Hi Heather Look at it as this, you need to start a new life. ANY problems you have with the sleeve is nothing compared what you are going through. Let your Dr. handle the insurance & they will find out what will be covered. Your new life is waiting for you. Good luck!

I am back at work ( Sleeved July 26th) & people are asking me about WLS for themself or the wives. I talked to a wife last night & her BMI is 46. She like everyone here feels trapped in her body. It has affected her life, etc. She like myself had gone to doctors & only told to diet or "just eat right". NO one every said Weight Lose Surgery! Why is this? I am angry now because we need help & there are a lot of people that are not getting the help they need. I told her think of WLS as fixing your body. It's no different than fixing a broken bone. But it's not being discussed most of the time. When I got off the phone there were tears of hope. This fine young lady is going to get her life back.

Ok most doctors have a person who handles insurance. When I called my insurance they told me several things I would have to do to have the surgery. When I went to Dr. Clarks seminar the insurance lady handled the insurance for me once I decided to do this. I recieved a letter one week latter from the insurance company telling me I had been approved. I did not have to jump through the hoops. I had surgery 2 weeks later. I wrote the insurance company thanking them & letting them know how this has changed my life. As for losing weight, my Dr. did not need us too, BUT he has a store with protien shakes for us fat people. I started the shakes 2 weeks before ( 4 shakes a day & walking) I lost 20 pounds before surgery. I read in a WLS book "Nothing feels as good as Thin!" remember this as you start your new life.

If she went back to work would she get to keep her insurance? If not you are stuck with starting over? I feel bad for you.

Very Funny

A friend of mine was 550 & has lost 235 pounds as of last month in 13 months. He paid $26,000 for his sleeve & would do it again.

This isn't sexy (maybe by someone?) but I was surprised by it & thought it was funny. I have lost 45 pounds & as I was standing at the toilet letting out some water, I looked down & saw little me. Now I did not have to bend over or use a mirror, no just old fashion "looking down".

That's great! I take my grandkids to Water Country & I am looking forward to next year not needing a T-shirt. Once I lose my weight I already told everyone to call before they come over because I will be naked...

I betcha most people do NOT know someone who even had this surgery! It's like saying to someone who told you "I'm cancer free." then tell them "It will come back."

Have some of you been to support groups? Do they help? I'm doing good now but could easy be in your shoes. I tell myself this Sleeve is a GIFT over & over to keep me straight. But I miss food right now.

You are right BUT if you do not change your ID picture you will get the same reaction. It's nice that you are you have lost that weight. I can't weight to get there!

You should not be eating soft food yet. You should just be drinking. Drink slow. Just sip wait about 2 minutes & sip again. You are 2 weeks away from soft food. Getting in enough liquid will be tough for now because your stomach is still swollen. Work on 1oz of protein shake at a time. Get a medicine 1 oz cup. Also take stool softer. It will make going easier.

I had the sleeve two weeks ago. I have come to the conclusion the sleeve is a "Gift". Most call it a "tool" When something gives you back your life that is a "Gift". I have never lost weight so easy & fast before. I am not hungry & my cravings are gone. So the sleeve is nothing to be afraid of. Go get your life back.
