  1. Hey Carolina Girl, My wife & I have made many trips from Williamsburg VA just for the BBQ in Carratuck NC. We always drive home with a few pounds of BBQ & Sauce. So I can relate to you. I'm being sleeved on Tuesday the 26th, because we would drive down to NC for BBQ. Welcome to this board.
  2. Looks like you had a lot to do. Every insurance is different. Before you know it Aug 8th will be here.
  3. I was very lucky. I went to the Doctor first on July 5th and having surgery on July 26th. So 3 weeks for me. Athem in VA is wonderful.
  4. You guessed right. Your hormones & body are adjusting. Read it in a book.
  5. Welcome! There are a lot of great people here ( like me! ) and advice. What happen to your cousin? Sorry for your loss. You will find very few people understand Weight Loss Surgery. Just remember you are doing this for you. You have to live with you. I have been told "dad as much as you like food!" My reply is "Right, as much as I like food. That's why I need this." So good luck & look forward to your post.
  6. Yesterday I'm at Dr. Clark's office & I am meeting with a lady about my up coming surgery on July 26th. Towards the end I'm all happy & having a good meeting about what my life will be like after surgery. I tell her I first saw " the Gastric Sleeve operation on TV and I knew then I would never be trapped in this body again." When I said that I just broke down crying. I was fine one second & crying the next. WTF??? I was embarrassed. I did not have any clue this was going to happen. Goes to show you how your feelings can stay hidden. I guess it also shows how much this means to people like us.
  7. Might end up buying my old clothes by mistake. Better take the wife with me.
  8. I keep stuff. You never know when you may need it. But I try to follow the rule "if you haven't used it in 5 years throw it out." So 3 months ago I decided my walk in closet was to crowded. I figured I would never be skinny again & threw out all my clothes under size XXL. You know the "one day clothes". One day I will wear it again. Then I saw the "sleeve" on Dr OZ & now on July 26th I have my surgery. Should of kept the clothes....
  9. Wow you are on your way. You have lost weight already! Great! Your surgery is one day after me. I love your list, except about having sex with your husband I don't even know him... Papa Jack
  10. Where can I buy a stick to beat the LADIES off when I lose my weight?
  11. How long are you waiting to have surgery? Now if this makes you feel better. I was on another forum & they have people from England on there. One lady said she is having the "Sleeve" done and was first told she was 13 months out. She just got a update and they added 10 months more on the wait list. This is socialized medicine. It would kill me to have to weight so long to get things done.
  12. Wow I feel blessed my insurance Athem in VA approved me with no hoops. My BMI is 43. I was so happy to see that number. They scheduled everything that day. They have one lady who deals with insurance. What I do not understand is why the Insurance company's have us diet? We need the surgery, not another diet. I feel for everyone how has to weight for months. Now if this makes you feel better. I was on another forum & they have people from England on there. One lady said she is having the "Sleeve" done and was first told she was 13 months out. She just got a update and they added 10 months more on the wait list. This is socialized medicine. It would kill me to have to weight so long to get things done.
  13. Come to think of it, my wife did that once! I came home early & she called me by another name...."Sam are you back?" We laughed about that for months...
  14. Please Add Papa Jack on July 26th. Thanks Decided to copy the June sleevers! Someone mentioned that we should have a master list of everyone who was sleeved in July just like the June sleevers. I will gladly take this on Please let me know if you need to be added to the list, removed from the list, or if your date is wrong. I will update as often as possible. I just gathered dates from posts in the July forum This should make it easier to follow up with each other, compare progress, complain together, Celebrate together... all that good stuff JULY FIRECRACKERS July 1 Kath-A-Leena Simply_KiZmet July 4 Heather H July 5 Wendy1974 July 6 SmallerSoon samanthafecher July 7 DawnOfANewMe biggriz July 8 ashleyc Hansi July 11 ccbcdeke amybaby33 Texasmom65 Bitties JayMiss Marilynn July 12 Nancy Rivers debgwoody Tara B kamay1234 aminahthediva73 Leslie jencomenz jflow75 mythreechildren2001 Bryn Dawson July 13 readytolive skinnyb2012 July 14 LaValeHawk sweetdreams July 15 Silverlining July 18 MLD valentine InProgress Jensharley Tripletsmomma July 19 readyforachange38 Hanir July 20 2ahealthierme singand_dance LeahG jennifer6791 July 21 Bemabound July 25 sleeve me plz humpty dumpty July 26 Tipsynoodle July 27 boots1 Khy DrMommy Ruby Sheila aslimmerme July 28 phardin July 29 peppercma daviso July 30 cutie pie
  15. When that happens to me I check my zipper or look for "boggers" Good story
  16. Samething happened today to me also. I go July 26 also. I know how you feel. I was shocked, worried, then happy. Now mine is as a outpatient. I saw on another forum where some women where asking to stay a day or so in the hospital because of the kids. They get more rest away from home.
  17. I first saw the sleeve on Dr. OZ show last month. Checked out the "NET" about this sleeve. Saw Sentra Hospital in Hampton VA is one of the top hospitals around for the "SLEEVE". Went to Dr. Clark's seminar Tuesday - July 5th Met one on one today with Dr. Clark - July 7. Insurance approved the sleeve. All pre-op was scheduled next week. JULY 26th is my surgery date. This 56 year old, 290 pound man is on my way to get his life back. NOW THAT's FAST!
  18. A guy that told me about the Sleeve a few weeks ago was 550 pounds 13 months ago. He has lost 235 pounds with the Sleeve. He told me it was the best thing he has ever done & would do it in a minute. He took out a loan & paid $27,000 because his insurance would not cover it. He also said his wife is haven't done too.
  19. WOW! IF I wasn't married for 39 years,... Living in VA.... A Grandfather... If I was Rich.... Maybe we could of..... You look very nice. You should be very proud of yourself. Best of Luck on your marriage. If you ever need Marriage advice, Ask my wife! I'm just a man.
  20. I met this guy (Bubba) & we were talking & he mentioned he was over 500 pounds 13 months ago. Now this guy is about 6' 3" & slim. I asked how & he told me he was Sleeved last year. I had just started to read about it that week. To meet someone whom had this done meant alot to me. While he was educating me about the Sleeve I got choked up because there was hope for me. This person does not know how much his story touched me. Later on my friend who is thinking about getting the Band next year, I introduced them. Now my friend did not know about the Sleeve. After talking to Bubba, he is now researching the Sleeve. You may get a negative reply, but there may be one person in the back of the room that may see you as a bright light of hope. This is the person who may silently ask you about you Sleeve. I will not say anything until I have it done. Then I can encourage others if I am successful.
