  1. You are correct! Women are Judged more, but they also are catty with each other. Just watch Survivor. It can be 2 guys & 4 women left & a guy will win because the women can't seem to work together.
  2. Hockey??? Isn't that the sport they try to knock out your teeth? Are you a Dentist????
  3. Funny. I like this.
  4. Most guy's don't go to Doctor's. I went a few years ago to my family Doctor & he said my wieght was fine because I did not have anything else wrong. My wife was hoping he would put me on a diet. I was told to start walking. (yea right.) Then this year got a new Doctor. My first visit was a blood work & meet & greet meeting. He told me "When You come back we are going to do something about that wieght." Now this time I relized I was in trouble. Stuff was starting to bother me & I was ready. I was excited when I went back 3 weeks later. I got a regular man's physical & my wieght was 290. He didn't say anything about my wieght! WTF! I asked him about it & getting on a program & was told "You know what to do, just eat right. No need to throw your money away for some one who will tell you the samething." He's a great doctor but I guess he just doesn't know. But now I have found this after seeing the Sleeve on Dr. OZ. So things work out. How has your Doctor's attitude been? Good? or uninformed? I will not see him until Jan 2012. I hope to be well on my way to my new life.
  5. HI!!!! I live in Williamsburg and will go to the first meeting July 5th. My wife is going with me, she's concerned as a spouse would be but she knows I need to do something. Can you tell me your story please. I am almost 300 right now. I am 56 & want to get older & get my life back. I want to get the sleeve by the same Doctor. Did your insurance cover the cost? If not how much is it if I pay for it? How are you doing? I met someone last week who had it done 13 months ago. He got it done in Atlanta. He was over 500 pounds. He has lost 235 pounds. He said it changed his life would do it again. It cost him $27,000. The strangest thing happened. When he was talking to me, I teared up because I was looking at "hope". I can see myself skinny one day. What was your time frame from first metting to now? Thank you, My email is jgilliam1955@cox.net
  6. Thanks everyone. Most of you think like I am starting too. My health first than Insurance or payments.
  7. I am going for my first meeting July 5th. I know my insurance covers Gatric Bypass, but not sure about the sleeve. Now the question is; Would you get the Gastric Bypass because Insrance covers it or would you take out a loan for the Sleeve?
  8. This is normal. I am eating more now to get my BMI up for my first meeting (next week) so I can be sure it is covered by insurance. We will miss it BUT we all know this is a new trip to a better us. food has become a bad four letter word.
  9. You were in abusive relationship with your friend not much different than a married couple. Some people are poison. Stay away from them! Take care of yourself. Because you are getting better, she see's she can't control you any longer. You are a threat to her! You have to take care of your self first. No one else will. Fix facebook so you don't have to see her comments. When you are moving on to better people & things she will still be a bitter person. Bless you. Papa Jack
  10. Your story sounds like mine. I stayed off the scales. Stop fighting the diets. Been around the same overwieght person for several years. But this year my blood presure has started to creep up. Other things are starting to happen. So I have decided I need to stop fooling myself. I will have the sleeve done & start taking care of my body. I will use the scales as a tool this time. I wish you the best.
  11. This is like asking your husband "How do I look?" It's a trap question. I have been married 39 years. You never tell the truth.
  12. Your so sweet thank you.
  13. Damn You! You made my cry when you wrote about your mom...
  14. It could be no one knows anything about this. When a person hears about this they think it is a high risk operation so they are concerned. It is lack of understanding that causes people to judge.
  15. What are some books to read out there? I ordered one from Amazon "By Dr.Garth Davis - The Experts Guide to weight-Loss Surgery. He was very positive about the sleeve. Are there any up to date books? Thanks!
  16. I have my first meeting July 5th. Looking forward to changing my life. My no longer list; 1. Not being scared I will meet some one before I gained wieght. 2. Having some one look at my face & not my belly first. 3. Not having friends at work pat my belly and laugh. 4. Not having a friend ask my wieght and laugh when I tell him. 5. Met a old friend and when he thought I had left the room, he said "My God he's fat." 6. Walking up to a ride with my granddaughter praying silently they have a fat person chair so I don't have to walk back. 7. Not having some one say "Why you breathing so hard." when I am just sitting in a chair. 8. Not having my Dr. say "You know what to do to loss weight, just eat right." When asked for some help to lose weight. 9. Hoping the store still has my size clothes. 10. Having the Grandchild say, "Mom say's you don't ride the rides because you are to fat." NOW FOR SOME GOOD STUFF!! 1. Taking walks with the wife. 2. Holding my wife. 3. Riding rides with the kids. 4. Buying regular clothes. 5. Looking forward to activites. 6. Riding in a plane to Alaska to see my sister. 7. Seeing my feet. 8. Getting my lap back so my wife can sit on it. 9. Having my Grandkids see me skinny for the first time. This is all for now. .
  17. Could be just old age. My daughter tells a story a stroke victim was assited to the toilet. Everytime he was placed on the toilet he would moan. The staff could not figure out what was wrong. Then one of them figured out the jewels were hanging in the cold Water each time he sat down. Do not know the fix.
  18. WOW!! WOW!!! WOW!!! You guys & girls are amazing.
  19. How are you doing now? I live in Williamsburg and have my first meeting on July 5th. Sentra in Newport News. How much have you lost? What was it like? My wife is concerned about me having it done, as a good wife does. I'm 283 ight now. I need my life back. Are you glad it was done? Recovery?
  20. Sorry about your Loss. You sound like a strong person. My best wishes for you.
  21. WOW! Same thing is happening to me! My wife of 39 years doesn't understands why I just don't diet. Like a good wife, She's concern about the risk. I told her I have 100% of bad risk if I don't do this. I just forward this forum to her to look at. Last night she was looking for the bad things that could go wrong with this. I saw this on the Dr's Show and found out a hospital 30 miles away do this. I have my first meet on July 5th. My wife will go with me to the class. Hopefully she will start to see I need this. If I don't get this I'm a walking deadman. When I think about getting my life back I tear up. I will not tell anyone at work about this until I reach my goal. NO ONE understands what fat people go through unless you have been there. Thank you for your post.
  22. Hello! I have BC/BS in Virginia also. I live in Williamsburg, VA. I am thinking about having this done. How does the insurance part work? Thank you. ] Welcome and good luck!!! I have Federal BC/BS - they follow what's applicable in each state. I had to appeal the initial denial last September. I got approved in November. The insurance coordinator at my surgeons that many insurance companies have begun including the sleeve in their covered weight loss surgeries. In fact, Virginia BC/BS began covering the sleeve 2 months after they granted my approval on appeal. You sound confident and I don't think anything will stop your success! Can't wait to hear good news from you!
