  1. I was banded 8/01/11 and it was a God send. Things were going slowly but steadily. In January I started having severe heartburn/reflux issues and no matter what pill, liquid med, ect I tried I got no relief. I was in so much pain I went to the er. I was admitted and my surgeon removed all the fill from my band. After a 5 day stint in the hospital, I had an egd done, protonix, dilauded, pepcid by IV I started to feel a lot better. I was told I had an esophageal erosion. I was given another med for that. I stayed with no fill for about 2 months the first 2 fills were fine just no restriction. So last week I went in and had another cc added. I am now up to 3. But again here comes the same pain I was dealing with in January. My GI doc said it had nothing to do with the band. Does ANYONE else have this issue???? Also I burp constantly....I heard thats a sign of a slippage with the band. I am terrified. I would love any advice you can provide! Thanks all and God bless.

  2. Okay, just to be clear...........Xenical is a fat blocker NOT an appetite suppressant. Also with the band we are already giving up certain nutrients that our bodies need therefore we must take supplements. How do we know if the fats that the xenical block aren't the good fats our bodies rely on??? I would say consult your surgeon. ALSO, I am sorry to sound like I am preaching but when you chose the life style of being banded you knew there were certain things you should no longer eat. If you do, don't cheat do the healthy thing and hit an extra mile on the tread mill..... Not judging, I am just saying! Good luck to you all!!!

  3. I am truly hoping someone can can help me with this. I am 1110 days post op and 2 days after surgery I had TERRIBLE searing pain under my left rib cage and I STILL have it to this day. I was re admitted to the hospital for 3 days and they could find nothing physically wrong. It's no where near my incisions, it doesn't go away with moving or walking. It just hurts SUPER bad, They have me at home on 6mg dilaudid (crushed) a day. WEll, thats fine but it doesnt explain why this happened or if it is ever going to subside. Has anyone else had anything like this happen to them after surgery??? I was told it could be a torn muscle from surgery or from trying to pull myself up I did something. IDK, but would appreciate any advice!!! Thanks!!!!

  4. OMG, I went through this yesterday and I ended up eating taco bell as my girls backed out on our plans.........GRRRRR!!!! Day one of the liquid diet isn't that bad. I am fortunate that I only have to do this for 4 days. Hope all is well with you,

I am starting my liquid diet on Saturday morning. I went to the store today and stocked up on what I think I need for 2 weeks. We are going out to dinner tonight since it will be my last meal out for a while. I WANT A STEAK. I'm thinking either Outback or Texas Land and Catle. Not sure? What did you eat?

  5. I am so happy for all the the responses. I thought I was the only one who had the concerns I did. It's comforting to know I'm not. I met with my nutricionist last Friday and I only have to do my pre op diet for 4 days prior. So, I am happy about that. My ninja 1100 has arrived and I've been blending as much as possible. sugar free snow cones were great in our ultra hot weekend. So hard to believe, 12 days until the surgery. I want to wish everyone the best of luck and I think we cld all be a great support to each other. I am on Facebook you can find me at bellaitaliana30@gmail.com I look forward to reading about everyone's experiences and success. Also, for more support check out YouTube. Lots of inspiring vlogs. I'm under, keepsgettinbetter. Talk to everyone soon. God Bless.

    Jane.

  6. Hello! Well, my surgery date is set for August 1st. While I am SUPER EXCITED I am also SUPER NERVOUS. I think because I have a little more than 2 weeks to go, it's all becoming so real. I see the home stretch!!! I had my final meeting with my nutritionist today and she said I only need to do the liquid diet for 4 days. Really she said I didn't even need to do it as I am on the lower bmi scale but she wants me to get used to the way things are going to be post op. I have been purchasing products for a while now, I ordered a pill crusher, a shake weight (SHOOOSH, DON'T JUDGE ME! LOL) and yes, it DOES in fact work. My last purchase was the Kitchen Ninja 1100. I CAN'T wait to try that thing out!! So, who else out here is going to be joining me on "The Losers Bench" in August?? To those of you waiting for surgery, what are your thoughts and concerns????? I would really like to know if I am the only one freaking out a lil.

  7. Okay, so I am officially scheduled for banding on August 1st. I am really excited. The only thing is my mom and a few other family members are trying desperately to talk me out of it. I am nervous about surgery in general and the people closest to me are trying to make me second guess my choice as a 32 year old adult. My mom flew off the handle and was offended that the Surgeon (Who I used to work for and I trust) advised me I was obese. (THIS I ALREADY KNEW) My mom was like, "how dare him call you that"? Well I am 5'3 and 210lbs. She keeps saying he's letting me have the surgery so he can get the money from insurance. I assured her this is NOT the case. Has anyone else come across people being negative about their decision? How did you handle it?

  8. I am sooo excited! I had my final meeting with my surgeon and tomorrow I will be getting my surgery date! This is FINALLY starting to come together. When I first started this journey with the seminar, I never thought this all would be so close to happening! I am a lil anxious, I wont lie. But I know this is all going to be great!!! Who else out here is a July Bander????

  10. You look absolutely amazing!!!! You really are a great motivational person on this forum. I met with my surgeon today and since I did all my evals first, we are submitting to insurance immediately!

One more thing -- I actually didn't find it to be as painful as I thought it would be. I'd say it was more like a 4. The gas was uncomfortable the day of the surgery, but it didn't hurt -- it was just uncomfortable.

My shoulder was the only thing that hurt (from the gas), but it was just an ache (basically, a constant stabbing pain, but not one that was so bad that I would cry about it! Complain, yes. Cry, no! LOL). And, the shoulder pain faded quite a lot each day until it was just really faint, then it went away entirely. My incisions and port area didn't hurt at all (though i just went back to my October 2008 post about surgery and see that I wrote that my port area felt a little sore after surgery). That said, I slept on my stomach for part of the second night after surgery and was fine. Honestly, I thought the surgery was going to be a lot more painful than it was. I was surprised that it wasn't harder.

Am going to try to post this one without my gigantic signature photo! No clue how to make that thing smaller!

    Best wishes,

    Catherine

  11. My name is Jael. (Prounounced Jay el) I am a 32 year old Italian female from Chicago. I am the mother of 2 fabulous kiddos and I am in good health with the exception of the weight and high blood pressure. 5'3 209 ! I have done all my evaluations and finally met with the surgeon today. 12. Zumba is GREAT if u like to dance!!!

I seriously cannot thank everyone enough! Banane44.gif

I really needed all of the responses. I really liked hearing that I was not the only one going through this. Believe it or not, I seriously think that the one that got me in the right mind set was the one that pissed me off the most. (I'm sure you ALL know which one I am talking about!)

with that being said...one poster said I didn't have to work out outside...and they where right!

I DO have a Wii. And I looked up some of the weight loss games for it, and I am wondering if anybody has any recommendations?!

I read about the Biggest Loser challenge and the reviews are good, anybody have any experience with it?!

    thanks again, everyone. thankyou.gif
