  1. I lost alot starting about 3 months after surgery, I take Biotin (since about 2 month before the surgery) and good multis. I also still do a Protein Shake 1 time a day. No one noticed except for me.....and I have thin hair ro begin with(OH LUCKY ME!! The one thing naturally thin on my body is my hair, lol) It was scary when I would shower and brush my hair and it was all over everything! It went on for a few months but now it is better and coming back in as normal maybe even alittle thicker. Remember if it does happen, it is only temporary! My friend and I (both of us banded) always said loosing alittle hair was well worth the weight loss results!!!!

  2. That was me last year!!! Luckily, I was still in bed, not feeling well from the morhine they gave me in the hospital and I didn't go anywhere...........BUT...........this year I am at my goal, 105lbs lighter, getting ready for the gym and later going to a BBQ where I know I can realistically handle the food and enjoy myself! It is only one holiday and it's so importnant to follow the Dr.'s orders!!! You can do it!!!

  3. Until I hit my goal I took 2 multis a day, 2 Calcium a day and 1 Biotin. Dr said now that I am maintaining I could do the same routine but take only 1 multi. I used Bariatric Advantage until goal. I wanted something formulated for us but now I do Centrum chewable. I also would forget inthe beginning so I bought a pill case from GNC and packed a few of each in my bag so if I forgot at home, I had them with me at work.

  4. I was banded 7/1/11 and I'm 165 today....269 at surgery. I would be disappointed too. Are you eating slider foods? Are you exercising? I still do not eat Breakfast, I do Protein Shakes instead and I do not snack inbetween meals. Although at this point I can eat almost anything, I always eat my Protein first then veggies and very little refined carbs at lunch and dinner. I had a long history of dieting before I was banded so I felt like I knew how to eat balanced but just never could stick to it preband. If you need alittle refresher, why not make an appt with your nutritionist and get a good plan in place AND exercise, exercise, exercise. You can still do it!!!

  5. I'm done loosing. I honestly had no goal in mind in the beginning, or maybe I had small goals placed in the back of my mind. I didn't know I was done until I got alitle too thin. At one point my skin began to hang and my face looked drawn and I just felt like I looked to skinny, I put on about 3-5 lbs and feel like it looks better. That's how I knew I was done. I feel great, I look great(without looking like I'm anorexic, lol) You will know what is good for you but I was initially using the bmi calculators to give me an idea, especially since at 269 if felt so far away and unachievable, but then BAM! all of a sudden, I was there!

  6. Just let them all know! I bet they will all be supportive! I found that all of my friends were sooo supportive and my family was only worried about the surgery itself, my husband and my mom were nervous wreckes about me being put under....what life would be like for me after.....etc BUT, 8 months laters and 100 lbs lighter.........they are so supportive and proud of me. I tell anyone who asks how I did it and even if I down play it alittle people are always very happy for me and feel that it takes just as much dedication as regular diet methods. Tell, you'll be glad you did!

  7. OK, I'll try to motivate you, LOL!!! I was banded July 1st. at 269 lbs. At that point I was sore by the end of the day(teaching 1st Grade) and unable to keep up with my 7 year old daughter. I woudl wake up with awful pains in my legs and my feet. Today I am 170lbs!!!!, at 5'10 I wear a size 10!!!!! (I'm so proud I want to wear my pants inside out for everyone to see!) and I'm running my first 5K at the end of March. I exercise Monday-Friday but nothing crazy, running and light weights but started out doing the bike and no weights. Right now I have a horrible strand of strep that not only is making my throat sore but has attached to my joints and muscles, I've been out of the gym all week, let me tell you, you're body feels better exercising rather than not!!! Do it girl!!!!! You will LOVE the way you feel!!! I also watch what I eat, Protein is my first priority always! You can do it!!!! I'll be 40 in May and I look and feel better than when I was 30!!!!

I'm very open with people about my surgery and I always say, " I didn't go through surgery to not loose weight, I was doing that all on my own"

  8. YES!!!! I teach first grade and an on my feet all day. My feet used to KILLLLLLLL me 90lbs ago, and my back and my knees too. I would get out of bed in the morning and hobble around, it was one of my deciding factors that I was just way too fat and I needed to do something. Now I have no problems at all. I work out, stand all day and still have energy for my family after work. It's wonderful!!! AND I can wear cute shoes while doing it all! wink.gif

  9. My hair started falling out in September, maybe October. I was banded on July 1st. It seems to be slowing down now but my surgeon assures me that I won't go bald and it will stop when I maintain my weight for a while.I've been taking 5000mgs of Biotin since May. I've lost almost 90lbs and I agree, it has more to do with the weight loss than the surgery. My friend has the lapband and it was just her 1 year bandaversary. She lost 120lbs and was loosing hair too. Now that she has been maintaining her weight her hair has come back in.......and she never went bald, LOL!! We always say it's a small price to pay!laugh.png

  10. I'm going right now to dump the rest of the treats from my kitchen too! I have a 24 hour gym and I LOVE it!!!! I usually go at 4am but I'm off from work this week so I've been going at 5, so that I'm home before my hubby has to leave for work. It is the best for me.......I love taking my shower and getting ready for the day knowing I have already finished my workout!

  11. I was banded in July and at the end of September I got a stomach virus. I was so sick and vomiting so often that my dr. took alittle fill out and then wound up taking everything out so that I could heal. I had nothing in my band for 2 weeks and once I felt better I was soooo hungry but I watched everyhting that went into my mouth. Just remember, it is only temporary so although right now you have to work super hard, in 6 weeks you'll be back on track.
