  1. i had surgery 5/31/11 and im still learning what I can and cant eat. I have problems with chicken and basically all carbs. Its good because now im finding alternatives (healthy). Sometimes I eat a little too much and end up throwing up as well. Its kind of like a slap on the hand! lol I think that its a long learning process but once we get it it wikll be great! My fav thing right now is eating lentils. They are a great source of Protein, filling and easy to go down. Also, tofu is another great find. Hang in there!

  2. So, I have 5.7cc in my band right now. I am due to see my Doctor on the 31st. Right now, I will eat and have to vomit almost every day but not all day. Eventually, it passes and I am then able to eat a good volume of food an dI do because I feel hungry. It is to the point where I have gained 4 lbs. I feel if this is the case then I do need a fill but then why do I have such isses with getting food stuck the first half of my day????? Any input is appreciated!!!:D

  3. If there is a part of the incision that is open, dont put anything on it that will keep it moist. You want the area to dry up and scab over. You are post op day number 4 and it should be dry by now. Clean the incision with some warm Water, making sure nothing is coming out. Take a band aid (use it as a steri strip) take the sticky part of the band aid and place it on one side of the incision pulling the skin together, closing the incision and put the other sticky area on the opposite side . I would try not to get the area wet for at least a day, probably 2. Then take the band aid off to see if the incision closed. If the incision is oozing thick green or white discharge or doesnt close, you should call your doctor :D

  4. Tabby Ann,

What is this card you speak of?! I had surgery May 31st and when I go out to dinner I always want to order from the childrens menu but I see the age restriction. Is there a card that we can get from the doctors office? That would be fantastic!!!!!!!

This is why I love this site!!!!!!!

    Thanks and good luck! :D

  5. Thanks everyone!!! Boy, did I learn my lesson!!!!! That pain is pretty bad and I always thought I had a high threshold for pain, but this!!!!! I guess I cant scarf down my food anymore.....lightbulb moment-- the lap band is working, yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone for the input, definitly helped!!!! Good luck everyone!!!!! :D

  6. So, it was my understanding that you should not drink after you eat something for at least 1/2 hour. I was told so that the food will stay above the band and let you feel fuller longer. I had my second fill on 7/22 and am now at 5cc total. I definitly have restriction bc I have had a few instances of vomiting. First, I get this horrible chest pain, ike the food is stuck. this has been happening more than I would like now and so I decided to drink a little in hopes of pushing the food through. The liquids actually made it worse! Once I had a few sips, I had to vomit. Has anyone had similar issues?? I would appreciate any stories and advice!!!!! Thanks!! :D

  7. if you recently injured your back and knee, you shouldnt go back to the gym just yet. There are a few issues that could be going on. You could just have a back injury that is causing pain down to your knee, making you think you have a separate knee injury OR you could have a separate knee issue like a meniscal tear. Obviously, you should go to the doctor, but since its not possible, the first thing I would do is rest. In regards to you back, if you could lay on a firm surface to sleep. Heating pads and if you are able to take NSAIDS like Advil or Naproxen (this will help with your back too). If your knee is visually swollen, you should ice it. If theres now swelling, use heat. I would not do any exercise for about one week. Just go about your daily routine. After one week, if your feeling better start doing stretches. As you are able to toerate that, you can slowly start to incorporate more exercise back in.

This is just my opinion :D Nothing beats you going to your doctor and getting a physicial and some xrays!

Hope you feel better!!!!!! And congrats on the weight loss!! You are an inspiration!!!

  8. I forgot to tell you nj! The NP has me lay down on the table and when he goes to feel the port he asked me to lift my head and shoulders like doing a crunch, he says its to help the muscles push the port to the surface more. once he felt it he had me lay back down. When I expressed my worry to him about being so hungry after having one fill already, he said that was normal. He told me that I was doing great bc even though I didnt loose any weight, I didnt gain either. The NP said most people gain even after their first fill. He said that it is common to not really feel restriction until after the third fill. I guess we have to be patient! LOL its hard for me I know! Im just so anxious!!! :) Also, even though my office is more agressive with fills, I dont go back for 3 weeks at a time. Your office is bringing you back every 2 weeks, which I think is great. Some people respond well to 1/2 cc, and slow and steady seems to be the name of this game... KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK EVERYONE!!!! WE WILL GET THERE!!!! :D
