Yesterday made 3 weeks to the day for me. I can eat just about anything but I try not to. We are "healing" and some of us heal faster than others. Just be mindful, maybe keep a journal, and wait for the first fill.
-
You must use some gas relief to help the gas subside. I bought a small box of gas x strips. It came with 18 and I thought i was going to eat the whole box. I was so wrong. The gas completely went away in about 2 days. When we are early out from the surgery and we feel like crap......its only natural for us to think we made the wrong decisions. Just follow the doc's orders and listen to your body and you will be fine!

Everyone is different but it is typically a consultation. the doctor will sit down with you and possibly talk about your history and what type of surgery you are looking to have. They will talk about the risks and benefits....yada yada yada. Then you will most likely get the preop testing requirements, which most doctors have.

No its not true. Typically you will have anywhere from 4-6 incisions and they will all be less than an inch in length. The largest incision is at the port site and is usually double the size of the others. My surg put my port and the incision for it inside my belly button. The rest of my incisions look like mosquito bite marks.

PB stands for Productive Burp. It happens when something is eaten that can't go down due to restriction, and it has to come back up.
Slime is what your body produces when it is trying to pass something through the band. It's very thick saliva and basically it the comes up and you have to spit it out.
These things usually happen when you don't chew your food well or eat something that you are not suppose to.

I was only on clear for 1-2 days, full liquids for 2-3 weeks, mushies for 1-2 weeks, and then solids. I was awaken out of my sleep with hunger pangs so my doc allowed for me to start mushies a lil early to calm the angry beast.
-
That's perfectly normal. However, to burst your bubble..........it will subside. I have heard of people not being hungry for about 3 weeks.

You can find a great circuit of banders on the blog scene. consider starting your own and make a few friends!

They're not really focused on weightloss at this moment because they are concerned about how you are healing. Once you get filled then the weightloss matters because it ties in to finding your sweet spot.

Do you mean lose 10 by the end of August? Trust me if you have been following a strict diet of liquids only you will have lost the 10 by the end of August. 2 weeks post op, I was down 7lbs from my surgery date weigh- in and I hadn't done any exercise.

I am an Office Manager so I do not have to be on my feet and I have no heavy lifting. I guess it's best to just see how my body feels and not rush things. Thank you for your reply!!
Its probably best to take more than you think you will need and return early if you feel up to it!

My surgeon did not want me to have any Fluid in my band because he wanted to be safe and not sorry. I am 2 weeks out (tomorrow). I do get hungry as I did preband but it doesn't take much to fill me up. I have gained some willpower so its not that bad. Bailey Rose is an example of what surgeons don't want patients to go through. Especially so early in this process, where we may be doubtful, regretful, or feeling less of ourselves. Good Luck.

Don't let the numbers get to you. There is a great chance that your doc will ask you to come down. This is only for your best interest. I wouldn't seek out a doctor that wouldn't tell me otherwise. Mine told me to lose aprox. 3olbs but I was only able to give him the 23. If I were you I would start cutting back on anything that I can so you can start to lose. Then when you have your visit you can let your doc know of the sacrifices that you already have made and find out if there are any others that need to be made. Good Luck and I hope to see you on the losing side!

I feel like something is pulling at my side and snap back but it hurtsssss...omg..also the top of my stomach burns it feels like heart burn especially when I breath in..when does this end
I never had a burning sensation. I would call the doc and have that checked out. The stomach movement is not so much of the "snap back" sensation you are stating. Its more like a Water ballon moving. Look into that.

CherieElise, is your name Cherie?
Cara, I live in southern California! I've had horrible gas pain but feel better this morning. I started farting last night, thank GOD and I think that's helped tremendously. Prior to that I was just burping, which was painful and not very effective.
Trish, Wow, already down a whole size! I can't wait for that. I've been a size 20 for like 4 years now, prior to that I was a size 24.
Jamie, wow, Micro surgery!? I've never heard of it. I'm jealous. I have 3 tiny incisions and one bigger one. They are all smaller then I thought they would be so i'm pleased.
I have

Today I'm doing ok, gas pain is better, i'm a fartin fool finally and I think that's what helped. I do heavy lifting in my job so I have 2 weeks off from work. I start school next week on thursday though so I really am only getting a week of nothing, then one days of school, 3 days off, then full time school mon-thurs of the following week, returning to work thursday night of that week. I need to NOT weigh myself. They dumped a ton of Fluid in me before and during surgery so I KNOW it's Water weight since I haven't eaten anything and i'm already frustrated that i've had a 2lb gain from pre surgery, lol. I know it's just Water, I know it's just water. <~~ that's my mantra. I am going to take my scale over to my moms actually because I will torture myself. That way i'll only weigh in about once a week. She lives in a trailer in the back of our property so it's not as accessible. Anywho, taking one day at a time and feeling pretty good today. Going to try and clean some house. It's disgusting.
I am past the gas pain but the farts were a whole lot better than the burps. The burps were almost crippling, I had to stop whatever I was doing to focus. Felt a bit like labor pains in my chest, lol.

DON'T WORRY!!!! It is perfectly normal. I was "healed" about a week after. My band has absolutely no Fluid in it for the same reason loserbob stated. Everyone heals at different paces and once you are healed you can eat as you normally were before. Maybe a bit less. Some people can't imagine doing what you have done because they haven't been faced with what you have......yet. However, for those of us who have experienced........it is perfectly fine. Just try to put the healthiest things in your body so you don't face disappointment. Good Luck.

OMG! I thought I was bugging out. I am 11 days out and it has subsided but when I was within the first couple of days I felt it. I don't know if it was the weight of the band or what but it was weird.

Hi, my name is Nikia and I was banded on Aug 3. I am married with 2 kids (9yr old girl and 6yr old boy). My highest and starting weight was 320lb. I lost 23lbs during my preop journey. My weight on the day of my surgery was 297lbs. I am currently in a size 22/24 jeans and a 3x top. Looking forward to my losses and I wish everyone the best of luck.

I had the same problem about a month and a half post op. I was terrified, because of course first thought was something was wrong with my band. Are you having regular bowel movements? I ended upnbeing constipated, which made my port stick out, thus irritating my abdomen and causing the pain. Did a couple days of laxatives, and it hasn't happened since. Hope this helps?
This helped me because I haven't pooped since my preop laxative. Which was 8 days ago. I will try to get my bowels moving.

I use a copper T IUD. It is one of the best decisions that I have ever made because hormones just don't cut it for me. The sperm dies after coming in contact with the copper. This IUD last for ten years while the Mirena IUD last for 5.

The gasx is ok but not for long. I am day 3 post op and the gas can somtimes be crippling. I can be in mid sentence and have to stop to do breathing exercises. Walking helps the pain for me also.

I think I have everything ready for my pre-op diet and surgery. Apart from 2 assignments I have left to do for university, and cleaning the house so I don't have to worry about doing it after!
For those that are banded already, how long until you were up and about? I know my doctor recommends me getting up and walking as early as possible, but how long till I can drive a car, or until I'll feel like doing grocery shopping or something?
My surgery was Wednesday at 9am and they wanted me up and walking at 5pm. I began my walk at 6pm just because I needed a minute or 60 to get it together. That was only because I didn't take so well to the anesthesia. I drove my vehicle on Friday after a Wednesday surgery. It was a very short distance, maybe a quarter of a mile. I felt like going food shopping the same day but that's only because I like to push myself a little but my hubby refused. We are going today. I hope this helps.

I am happy that everyone who has had their surgery so far is feeling well. I feel much better than my surgery day. I'll be ready to return to my desk duties at work on Monday! For those of you with upcoming surgeries, do not underestimate the power of the ANESTHESIA ! dom dom dommmmmmm! I never had incision pain or port pain (thanks to my "single incision") just couldn't stay awake long enough or stop getting sick because of the anesthesia. I am doing terrible at consuming my Protein requirements but I am a work in progress. Can't wait to hit the gym and pool and start losing. If I had the opportunity to do it again..............I would do it, with a major anesthesia disclaimer.

I was prescribed oxycodone for pain meds. With that I was able to sleep on my tummy by the 3rd night. I didn't need the meds in the day so I only took them before bed to ease the sleep pain. Nights one and two were back and side sleeping.< /p>
