  1. Congrats, I just want to share my PCP is the one that mentioned lapband to me!

She had been my dr about 2 years and saw my weight go up and down 20-40 pounds over the time she has been my dr.

She asked me if I ever thought about weightloss surgery.. and I just looked at her and Cried..

I never thought of it and now wonder why my other dr. who left the practice never did.

My first visit after surgery I was down about 30 pounds and she had a big smile on her face!

I thank god she mentioned it to be that day!

  2. I lost 107 pounds back in 1998 doing Weight Watchers and kept it off about 4 years.

It took me 14 months, I wrote everything down, weighed and measured everything. I did not stray from the points I was to eat.

Even before & after I would lose anywhere between 25-75 pounds just to regain it. I am a lifetime member. "lifetime" is key, even with the band I am Lifetime to watch every thing I eat, the band reminds me of this now.

I am down 91 pounds(17 months out) and this experience is totally different. I love my band and wish I would have done this when they first came out!

  3. You will be fine if you remember all of the above notes! I am 58 and I too have lost before, and gained back many times over my years.

I plan on doing what I am doing now and keep doing it, it is a lifestyle change along with a diet.

And hell, if this band of mine acts up I would do another surgery if I had to! (hoping my band is with me till death do we part) I am never giving up, I like the way I feel 91 pounds down and working my next 25 pounds!

  4. yes, 1/2cc will make a difference! I have never been stuck since getting my band July 2011 till last week after having a 1/2cc October 30!

I am debating if I should cancel my appointment for Tuesday after Thanksgiving since I am right where I need to be I think.

(had a little stuck episode today but it passed thank god)

  5. Just so you know I am 15 months out for Lap Band surgery and my husband has gained around 25 pounds if not more.. he Snacks more and blames me since I don't eat..lol NOT>> I eat just fine and healthy.

He is just eating the wrong foods like bags of pretzels at a time!

he also has a bad heart and was told to lose weight by his Dr.

he is retired and can't exercise with the heart and most likely COPD.

  6. Congrats! Thats my 1 year anniversary too! I love my band and it was just what I needed to get this weight off!

I started using myfitnesspal.com to track what I eat and it has helped me lose over 7 pounds the last 4 weeks. I was overeating Yogurt! too many carbs.

  7. I have gotten used to it, I just play on the pc for half hour after eating. lol

the reason you don't drink half hour prior and after is so you do not wash the food thru your band.

It helps you stay full longer! It works for me! I am almost 10 months post op and down almost 65 pounds!

It is not that bad once you get used to it.

  8. Very funny story, I too have a drawer full of oversized panties... freaked out this am thinking I was going to have to wear a pair. But my new ones were in the dryer thank god!

I am going this weekend to buy some smaller clothes as I am down about 55 pounds. I put off buying them too since I have been losing about 2 pounds a week, but now stalled at fighting with the same 1 pound over the past 3 weeks. So yesterday I signed up for my first 5k so I have no choice but get

my butt on the treadmill each and everyday!

Good luck to you and it is great feeling when you hold up a pair of panties and think no way they are going to fit and then they do!

  9. If you have had up and down weight problems it will be in your chart! Me, I am thankful that my GP asked me if I ever considered WLS, I cried and said no because my Dr. before her never mentioned it to me, she gave me a name of a Dr to call and it took me a while but July 25 I was banded.

My first visit back to her she was smiling and so happy for me!

  10. I had a full hysterectomy about 5 years ago and was banded July 25 little over two weeks ago.

The pain for the band was nothing like the hysterectomy! Getting the band was almost painless! I had pain in two places, where the stupid nurse put my iv in my hand and my port area. Even those were not as bad as the hysterectomy. trust me.

I slept on the coach when I had that but slept in my bad after the band. Relax if you survived the pain of the hysterectomy you will be surprised that there is not much pain with the band!

  11. I am also on mushy food, but only 2 ounces every 2 hours or so... I had my band on July 25, this is my second week this is my regiment for the day.

2 ounces of mushy's, wait half hour, then drink 4 ounces of Protein shake and Water with in the hour. Then wait half hour, then start all over again.

I do not think I would be ready to go out to eat yet.

Did you speak with your nut? They should have told you what to do when mushy stage.

  12. I don't think I want people to know when I get banded besides close family that will probably have to help me day of surgery and what not. Has anyone else kept their band a secret from people when people start asking how you losing all your weight? What made you come to the decision to keep it to yourself and has it been easy to keep quiet?

I have told everyone, except my brother! Everyone thinks it is a great idea, except my one son. (he is dieting right now and doing well for the second time)

I just know this is going to be a great tool for getting this weight off.
