  1. Hi Shirley, I am on MFP and I see that you refer a lot of the people there. I have a question. When I initally enrolled in, the calculation were like 500 calories over with my stats. Isn't most lapband patient between 900-1200 calories a day? It gave me like 1700 (give or take), but I changed it to reflect a max. of 1200, was the a good thing to do?
  2. I just made week 4 and have not run into any problems with any food I have eaten chicken, fish, ground beef, and today had beef fajita meat for the first time. That's what scares me I can eat anything and I feel if I allow myself the same amount prior to surgery.
  3. I am at the 4 week post-op mark and feel the same exact way. If I allowed myself I could eat as I did pre-surgery. But I still feel as though I am eating to much. So far at my weekly weigh-in (Thursdays) I have not gained weigh, but fear that it is soon coming. My plates for dinner are almost (a tad less) the same as before surgery(I be sooooo hungry), however I don't go back for seconds as I usually would. I agree that this can be consider the ever so famous "Bandster Hell". I don't want to fail!!!

    Rash

I was banded on 8/11/11 and I also got a rash over my entire stomach and it itched like crazy. My surgeon said that it is most likely a allergic reaction to something and advised to take benadryl and if it does not get better to call office. The benadryl cleared it up.
  5. I was banded on 8/11/11 and noticed that I am still eating fast and not chewing as I should, but I am not having any problems. By the time I notice what I am doing I am halfway thru my meal. I am going for a fill on 9/27/11 and I am terrified, I need to get this under control so that I will not have any complications following my fill. Did anyone have this problems before their first fill and how long did it take you control eating habits?
  6. Thank you all for your feed back! Terri special thanks to you, your post was such an encouraging message. I smiled the entire time reading it, feeling much better by end.

  8. My weight loss is moving like molasses (in other words really slow). I was banded 4 weeks ago this Thursday. I have my days when I feel really sad and upset about this. I guess I am ready to see results and I am trying my best not to get discouraged.
  9. I bought all my supplements that are required for lapband patients. For the Calcium I bought the Viactiv carmel chews. I am to take 3-4 chews a day, so I opened the pack and took one and was surprised at how good it tasted. So something told be to check the nutritional facts................OMG one chew is 20 calories, that 60-80 calories for a supplement. After I finish this big pack I am going to try the pills if my surgeon allow me too. Also was anyone recommended to take b-12, are you taken them?

    Calling all A11s!!

Today makes my 3rd week. I am doing ok, weigh loss seems to be moving in slow motion (lol). Start solids tomorrow and so terrifed that this slow pace weight loss will come to a halt or worse gain.
  14. I am just starting solids and have been terrified to eat much because I don't want to see the scale go in the opposite direction. I have read numerous times that the body is healing and that one should not worry about weight or weight gain. Because I am already losing slow and it would hurt my poor lil feelings if the scale says I gained weight. I am easily discouraged and feel that if I see a gain when I am trying I would be devastated.
  15. I had my surgery on a Thursday and went back to work on the following Tuesday with no problems other then some gas. I actually got up Monday morning and got dressed for work and decided not to go because I know I would have a major attitude with my gas pains so I stayed home.

    Calling all A11s!!

I started mushies on yesterday (friday), I think I did poorly already. I think I had too much potatos, I am just having a hard time eating puree (baby food like texture). I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with food selections, getting protein, etc. I am afraid to step on the scale for fear of gaining weight. OMG..............I will be one of the those that fail!! Sorry I just had a moment or two. (I will tune in tomorrow with hopefully a more positive post)

I have a kinda dumb question. I was recently banded and joined my fitness pal. I started puree today and decided to start logging from this day forward. Ok here comes the question......................does blended food have the same nutritional value, for example if I took a baked potato, cheese, sour cream, etc and put in the mixer, is it the same? The reason I asked because I just entered it as a baked potatoe and the topping on my list. I know it seems like a stupid question, but I am new to this and just want to get everything right.

    Calling all A11s!!

Today makes my 2 week post-op mark. Feeling great no complaints........except I expected to lose more than I have. I am one to get easily discouraged, however I have lost a few pounds so I am proud of that. Hope all is well with you other August Bandsters. Oh yeah puree foods tomorrow.............YAY!!!!
  19. I read on lots of post about eating and drinking. And also read in my post op packet not to drink while you are eating. But I don't know why? What is so important that one should not do this?
  20. Once I get to the appropriate phrase for it I am going to have to try this Wendy's chili everyone keeps talking about.........lol! Laughing to keep from crying with this darn liquid diet!!!
  21. I will have to get in my protein by diet because these protein drinks/shakes are not for me due to taste and price.
  22. For those who are past the post-op liquid diet......do you still drink protein shakes (as much) or at all....or do you just incorporate protein into your diet other ways?????
  23. Excellent reply Russell, these are the exact things that I want to know. I hope that an exprienced bandster will give some detailed insight.

    How often do you weigh?

I have only been banded for 6 days, but I have decided to weigh myself every Thursday morning (which was day of surgery). I would not handle weighing my myself everyday well (with gains)...........I get to easily discouraged.
  25. I soooooooooo agree with you Sandycheeks, I am so over this liquid diet. Unfortunately, I was banded 8/11/11 and as of tomorrow I will have another week of this. I not saying I want to inhale everything I see, I just can't wait to chew something with texture. Goodness I can't wait until puree week!!!
