  1. I am one week post op and I recognize the feeling you're having in your abdomen. I think it's a combination of the band settling in and gas. My surgeon was HUGE on water intake- 64ozs a day no matter what!! I found myself gulping sometimes and it did feel like restriction. My band is completely empty because surgeon said it was a tight fit but I sill think you will feel some restriction just simply havi the band in place! So ..... hang in there. My stomach is feeli g more and more normal each day just a little bloated still. Hope this helps. It's an odd feeling isn't it?
  2. Wow! Congratulations on your Dedication and persistence!!!!!!
  3. I'm one wek post op and I take several meds some of which are quite large. The only one I break in half is Metformin ( horse pill)! The others I just take one at a time with several drinks of water. I have no restriction right now so the PA said this would be fine. The problem will probably get worse once we have restriction. For now I wouldn't worry
  4. Wow! Congratulations on your weight loss so far!!!! I think you Re the perfect candidate for the LapBand! Welcome!
  5. Brad, How are you feeling today. Have you talked to the docs office?
  6. Have you been drinking your 64 oz of water everyday? This is critical.
  7. CONGRATLATIONS!!!!!" WOW!!!
  8. I also highly reccommended the book Bandwagon. It is very imformative!
  9. I was up 5 lbs the morning after surgery! it took 3 dayls to get back to the morning op weight! I'm now down 6 lbs post op. I was banded last Monday. My doc says 3 lbs is fluctuation. 4 lbs is weight. Except right after surgery.
  10. I was banded 6/27. I had very little shoulder pain when I was taking short walks (15 min) throughout the day rather than the long once a day walks or bike I'm now doing. Soooo today I am going to do several short walks to try and keep it at bay. Is this something we are always going to have when we are gassy?
  11. That is. my first short term goal as well .
  12. HELLO APPETITE !!!! It has returned as predicted one week out! Here's where things will get real interesting !
  13. This is my version of a Frappicinno: 1 scoop chocolate or vanilla Protein Powder. ( I llike Designer whey because it only has 2 g carb) 1 c skim milk 1/2 pack of individual Starbucks Caramel flavored instant coffee Crushed Ice Whip it up in your bullet and enjoy! I have this every morning for Breakfast.
  14. The weakness you are experiencing sounds like dehydration. Are you getting your 64 ozs of water in everyday? That was my main goal from my surgeon for this first week. Hope you start feeling stronger soon.
  15. First BM was day 6 post op. I have been on liquids 3 weeks now. two pre op and one post op including 6 days clear. Probably different.
  16. I was just looking on my food list and there are NO starches listed for any phase!!!!!! I have been so looking forward to cream of wheat and oatmeal and they are NOT on the list!!!! I had remembered that the nutritionist told me no potatoes; whipped or not, sweet or white; or any breads. Crud! I was really looking forward to cream of wheat. His phases are 1. Clear Liquids one week 2. Full Liquids - 2 weeks 3. Soft proteins added one week 4. All soft Foods added one week 5. Solid Food Trial Period Begins
  17. Brad, Sounds like you are doing a bit better. Thank goodness!
  18. Beeegut, PLEASE call your surgeon! If you're doing the ab workout I think you are-you easily could have torn the port from your abdominal wall! I'm just saying!

  20. I have two Golden Retrievers, 3 And 31/2 years old. They are so much fun and love their walks, but my main form of exercise is swimming laps in my pool. Harley, the 31/2 year old, has taken to swimming right along side of me! It's hilarious! We race each other - doesn't get much better than that. lol
  21. Brad, I am also self pay so I DO understand! I am under the understanding that insurance would pay for this type of issue, especially if you are admitted on an emergency basis. Just a thought. Take care. <3 Lisa
  22. I was banded June 27th and I love love the band so far! I can only hope my appetite continues to be so depressed! Ha Ii lost 11 lbs pre op and 5lbs post op.Happy happy! [/]
  23. Brad, I've been reading your posts and thinking about you today. I am soooo sorry for your post op experience. It is NOT suppose to go this way. I promise. I am so worried about your general health. 18 pounds in 4 days is serious electrolyte imbalance. Is your bariatric team taking this seriously and really watching you? I know you don't want to hear the H word ( hospital) but it may be the best place to get you back on track without any long term effects. Best to you and your health. <3
  24. it sounds like you may have been too young to have this surgery. I hope you have your own income so you can take charge of your own food. That would really help. Also, maybe find an exercise partner. There are lots of activities you can do to stay active that don't cost anything. Maybe take on the attitude "I'll show YOU"! if mom continues to not be on board!
