  1. Finally!!!!! I'm in the "Green Zone"!!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!

  2. My throat gurgles!! Very embarrassing because it also is loud enough for everyone at the table to hear. This started when I reached the green zone.
  3. Well I am a crazy person when it comes to journaling my food so this is how I handled our early Thanksgiving dinner on Tuesday. Before the meal I planned out exactly what I would eat and journaled it. Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: 3 oz turkey ( ate all of this first without anything else on my plate) 1/4 c stuffing ( didn't eat it all ) 1/4 c mashed potatoes 2 T gravy 1/4 c fresh green Beans Dinner: 3 oz Turkey 1/16 piece of pumpkin pie with 1 T SF cool whip It was somewhat easy for me because it was just my hubby, son, and myself so I didn't make my fav. (sweet potatoes)! I was able to easily stay under 1000 calories and lost a pound this morning! Very happy! I had a great time visiting with my son, who lives out of town, and enjoying the day guilt free. Also his enthusiasm for my weight loss was very motivating. On his last visit I was down 30. Have a great day however YOU choose to do it! We are all blessed to have this wonderful band helping us with our journey!

    Omg, I'm Normal!!!

What an awesome achievement! You are, and have been, a true inspiration to me throughout my journey! I think of you often when the scale isn't cooperating, and realize the dilligence it takes to stay the course on this sometimes slow journey. Thank you Cindy and a huge Cingratulations!!!!
  5. I've told my husband, son, sister, brother, nephews, and one close friend. I, like many others, don't want the scrutiny of others. What do I tell them? I tell them the truth - I did one month of liquids and now I play a game everyday to see just how little I can eat!!! I'm a very honest person!! lol

4 Years Later.. Better Late Then Never

I had my gallbaldder removed and this surgery recovery was identical in terms of incision soreness. Both surgeries were very easy cor me. I can't imagine needing even two weeks off much less a month. The gas pains were much worse with the lapband surgery, but the cure for that is to keep moving! Good luck and please don't focus too much on the pain. Just see how YOU feel. Everyone deals differently! No pun intended!! lol

    Help Needed Please...1,000 Calories

I also stay under 1000 calories a day and have trouble some days getting to 800 with the diet my doc has me follow. This is what I ate yesterday - Breakfast: Protein Shake Lunch: Albacore Tuna pouch mixed with 11/2 t Lite mayo Dinner: 4oz Tilapia 2 brocolli Spears sprayed with butter Snack: sugar free Jello 1oz turkey Jerky I have restriction now, but I ate like this before restriction per my docs orders and guzzled lots of Water to stay full!!!!!! Also -eating large quantities was not my problem before it has always been way too many carbs which led me to taking massive amounts of insulin. And of course when you're taking that much insulin your body holds on to EVERYTHING you eat. I am now taking 1/5 the insulin pre surgery! I'm thrilled! Good luck and follow your nutritionist's directions and you'll do great! We are all different. 800 works for some 1500 works for others.

    Confused about my calorie intake

I completly agree with Xavier! I lost very little the fiest two months after surgery, eating about 700 - 1000 calories a day. And then all of a sudden, without changing anything the weight litterally started falling off! Our bodies are all so different. You can't tell someone you guarentee this or that will work because it did for you. My advice is to stay the course as your nutritionist suggests and the scale will start moving down! Good luck!
  10. I am 5 months post op and have not experienced hair loss. I have NOT lost rapidly and I am religious about counting my protein every day. I get between 70 - 100 grams every day. I eat very little that is not protein. I do not think this has to be a problem from my research.
  11. I know all people are not as fortunate as I was, but my post op experience was a breeze. I was up walking an hour after surgery and walked the halls constantly until they let me go home! My sister, who's an RN, and I went shopping and out to lunch on the second day post op. I never had trouble getting out of bed on my own or making my broth to eat. I ate very little that fiest week after surgery because anesthesia wipes out my appetite for a week! Everyone is so different so I would let your doc advise you on the 4 hour ride home. Also I was walking with my newborn in a front pack two days after my c-section, much to my OBGYN's dismay, two days after being released. And went back to work for a half day the next day after having my gall bladder removed. Everyone's body reacts soooo differently. I think it helped me having two abdominal surgeries prior to being banded. Best of luck and I so happy for you! You will Love the results!

    Help! Banded on 11/11/11

I understand the thought of food makes you ill right after surgery. Anesthesia does that to me. After a week my appetite returns. In the hospital, right After my surgery, they wanted me to try juice, jello, and broth. My sister, who is an RN, was with me, and I told her everything was tainted. I was convinced it had somehow spoiled and I was NOT going to have anything to do with it! Calories are not a concern for ylu at this point, but water is. Sip ALL day long and shoot for 64 oz. They gave me a shot glass that I was to drink every five minutes all day long. Good luck! and it WILL get better.

    cheating

Chinese Hot and Sour soup. Take out all the stuff and just have the broth. Nice break from plain old broth.
  19. I had an empty band after surgery and my first fill was 4cc - no difference. 2nd fill 1 cc - no difference. 3rd fill .5 cc - no difference. 4th fill - 1 cc for a total of 6.5 cc's and now after 4 months I have restriction. I simply don't get physically hungry - only head hungry! Be patient and good luck!

1st Band Fill - Major Pain

Crackers and eggs are not part of the full liquid diet. Please follow your doctor's orders after a fill. My doc has me sign a document agreeing to the post fill diet before I leave his office. Did he put anything i. your band at the time of surgery? Many surgeons do so thT could explain the tightness of the 1.5 cc's. Good luck.

Do you eat the calories you burn?

Please check out the link below for more info on "starvation mode" and the band. http://drsimpson.net...estriction.html
  22. I had a fill on Thursday afternoon, 2 days ago. I went from 5.5 cc's to 6.5 cc's. I actually thought I already had 6.5, but they informed me otherwise! Here's what I'm feeling. During the 24 hours of liquids I felt pain in the center of my chest whenever I took a drink of water. The water goes down, but I have that annoying pain with each drink. I love water so this has been difficult. I'm use to drinking about 100 ounces each day! The morning after the fill it took me 3 hours to finish my protein shake and another 3 hours to finish a 20 oz bottle of protein water for lunch. I managed to get another 24 ounces of water that evening and a few bites of broth, but it was a chore. Today I had a scrambled egg for breakfast and sipped water and protein water the rest of the day. I have not been hungry at all which is great, however I 'm wanting to know if once the swelling goes down will it get easier to swallow or should I consider an unfill? I have had absolutely no issues until now. Easy post surgery and no issues with PBing, sliming, or stuck episodes. I would appreciate you sharing any similar experiences or advice. Thank you!
  23. Find a new doc. This one sounds like a control freak! He's going to always have a problem with you about SOMETHING!! Must be nice to be perfect like him. lol
