  1. This is great information, but I'm sorry to hear the rough time you had to go through. Did you hurt really bad and get nauseated when the band slipped? I'm pretty sure anyone would know when the band slips, right?
  2. Thanks Jen! I'm such an idiot and I know I shouldn't have lifted that, but I'm used to just doing stuff on my own! Hopefully, this horrible swelling will go down. I have never looked this bloated!

Thanks Sweetbaker....I am glad to hear that you weren't consuming your full amount either. It's just hard in the first few weeks.
  4. This Thursday will be 2 weeks since I was banded. I have been walking quite a bit, but how soon did you guys start working out like your arms and upper body? I am still pretty sore at my port site, so I know I can't do situps, etc, but I am mainly needing good excercises for these "bat wings" I am developing on my arms! HOw soon and what excercises do you guys suggest????

I'm scared I'm not getting enough calories at this point in my journey. That will definitely impact how much I continue to lose or don't lose, correct? I like myfitnesspal.com and think it's a great tool. It keeps telling me I need more calories, but I'm afraid it's right!
  6. I was self pay and didn't have to see a nutritionist. Sometimes it makes it harder for me because I feel clueless. My doctor is really good, but I don't like to drown her with questions that I know I can get answered on here. You guys are living with the band everyday and offer good advice. I am watching portions for now and then might have to step back when I quit losing to see what I need to knock out of my diet. I'm still not on regular foods yet, so it's kind of hard to keep up with the little bit I'm eating. Ready for things to get back to as normal as they ever will!

    My first Post-Op posting

I was banded on June 16th and I am loving my band. I went to the doctor on 5/31 for my initial consultation and then back on 6/24 for my post op consultation and I had lost exactly 20 pounds! I have made a lot of changes since being banded, but I feel better than I have in a long time and I'm really excited about this journey. I am almost scared to eat though because I don't want to gain any weight.....I know I need to get out of this mindset!

    1 Week Out...

I will be two weeks post op on Thursday and I have yet to really eat a meal. I am just not hungry. I feel great and I'm losing weight, but like you I know it's not good. I am trying to make myself eat more, but it's just hard. I never thought I would have a problem eating! Crazy how the band changes you physically and mentally! Good luck on your journey!

    Hello From DeKalb

Good luck to you! I had surgery the 16th so I'm a newbie! Are you from DeKalb, Texas????

    Savory Please

What would actually happen if you ate more solid foods like meatloaf during the mushy stage because I sure did want some today......lol? Of course I didn't eat it because I know it's not good, but what is the actual purpose of the different stages? I mean, if you slip up once is it doing to make your band slip or what? I am not going to cheat, but all of my friends have been asking me and I'm curious!
  11. Is belching all throughout the day just something I need to get used to since I'm now a "bandit?" I belch worse after I drink something, usually Water, but it happens quite regularly no matter if I have drank anything or not. Sometimes I belch so hard that it actually hurts a little bit, but I'm sure this is normal. Can anyone else relate??

    Just starting & lost

Go for it girl! I'm 28 years old and fought with my weight until I couldn't do it anymore! I had surgery a two weeks ago this Thursday and it was the best decision I have ever made. I am down a little over 20 pounds and can already say I have no regrets. It requires life changes, but I'm in it for the long haul. You WILL not be alone I promise! This website is fantastic and everyone for the most part is supportive. I'm always here if you need anything!
  13. Kind of a random question, but I'm a big "sweater" and it is horribly embarassing. I have been this way all of my life and I am hoping it will get better wtih weight loss, but I'm not so sure that's the problem. Have you guys noticed a diference when it comes to sweating?
  14. lea3277

    Sweating

I very seldom hear of females who sweat as bad I as do around my face and neck so I am glad I posted this to the forum. It's been an embarassing issue i have dealt with for my entire life and it sucks in the "professional" world because you are right Pitbull, it is hard to be taken seriously. People always want to bring attention to my issue and then I get nervous and the problem worsens. It sucks!!!! I am praying the weight loss will at least lessen the issue and it sounds like this might be a possibility. I can only hope.

    SOFT FOOD IDEAS....

What kind of food blenders do you guys use?? I need to invest in one....I'm also in the "Mushie" stage.
  16. lea3277

    Sweating

So there is hope for me.......YES!! Thanks for the feedback!
  17. Need mushie ideas that are quick and easy......I'm getting tired of mashed potatoes and I'm craving meat!!!!!!

    Sweating

The weird thing is that sweat around my face and head where you abslutely cannot hide it! It wrecks my life. My pits are fine. I always have weird conditions......lol. Oh well, I would rather be thinner and sweaty than fat and sweaty, I guess! Have to find humor in it somehow.

    happy so far

Good Job! Like Rozie.....I'm a newbie and need all of the "success" stories I can find. I can honestly say I am loving my band, even though it's early on for me. I love these forums and getting everyones input. Best to learn from the people have been through and experienced being banded on a daily basis.
  20. I had my band put in on the 16th. Is it too soon for me to drink a Protein shake? I have been on Clear liquids, but I would like a Myoplex shake or at least a few drinks of one.

    Swimming

i was wondering the same thing.......I am ready to go to the lake, but sounds like I will have to wait!
  22. i haven't been pigging out at all. My doctor actually suggested drinking a slush or smoothie per day this week only just to add more calories, since I wasn't getting enough. I don't really like them so that is the only reason she thought I could get by with that. I drank water tonight so I did good! I've been really strict and I have been making good choices when I eat (well, more like drink!)......I just don't want anything at all at this point. Thanks for all of the feedback and good luck on your journeys! I had mine last Thursday and I have lost 20.....I've never been this motivated, but I hope it sticks!
  23. I had surgery Thursday a week ago and I am wondering if I should be able to drink a whole small slush from Sonic. I drank one today and it didn't bother me at all. I guess I just didn't think I would be able to drink a whole one. Also, how soon could I drink a mixed drink? I don't want to rush it, but I'm going out tonight and I kind of want one. I am at the stage now where I'm not taking in hardly any calories so it won't hurt me from that perspective, but I know down the road I will have to be really careful with "empty calories."

    Slipped Lap Band??

I was banded about a week ago and was wondering the same exact thing!
  25. I too feel like someone pumped me up with an air tank. I had surgery one week and one day ago. I am Gas-X's newest customer! At least I belch for the most part.......more disguisable than the other end.
