    GNC or Vitamin Shoppe Suggestions

LMD, I KNEW I could count on you for some good info! So all of the brands you mentioned are in store? Of course I've been researching everything for this sleeve except for Protein shakes. And a broad like me does not have a lot of pennies to be throwing around wastin on different Protein Shakes. The great news is that my daughters who I just told about my decision to have WLS want to support me and do a 2 week liquid diet too! They are super supportive and I couldnt have been more touched when they told me. They'll be doing slimfast, and hope to lose a few pounds for a dance they'll be attending soon. We'll be making our first trip to GNC and Vitamin Shoppe today, wish us luck!

    Rating protein powders

I dont want to have to rely on ordering my Protein stuff online as shipping gets expensive and I have to REMEMBER to keep ordering stuff when it gets low. From this thread I'm gathering that I can go to my local GNC and get Wheybolic Extreme which tastes pretty good (I know, I know, I need to taste it myself). I have two daughters who would also like to go on a liquid diet to help support me (and to look good for an upcoming dance they're going too lol) and I really cant afford to buy hiqh quality protein stuff for all of us, so they've agreed to do slim fast. If any of you have any other Vitamin Shoppe or GNC suggestions, please share. I'm supposed to start my pre-op diet on Tuesday and I would rather go local than to order a whole bunch of expensive crap online.
  4. got my protein shake samples. scared to try them!

  5. Thanks for the bariwise info. I hope I like it as it will be great to have different options other than the "creamy" type shakes during this pre-op journey. OMG, I still cant believe we're getting sleeved sooon!

  6. OMG! Are you panicking like I am as we get closer to the 18th? LOL...it's a good panic, but panic nonetheless!

  7. Hey! Thanks for friending me!

    OCTOBER 2011 SLEEVE ROSTER

Omg, I just grinned like a cat when I saw my name on the list! Woo Hoo!
  9. I was discussing my surgery with my awesomely supportive hubby this morning, and he asked me to give him a list of things that we will need to do, know, or have after I'm sleeved on October 18th. He understands that I wont be eating much and will only be having liquids right after surgery but he wants to hear first hand from someone who's lived it. Any tips and pointers for him you could give are greatly appreciated! I'll be showing him this thread later on tonight, hopefully there will be some great suggestions and info for him to have so that my post op days go by nice and smooth!

From: I feel like time went backwards

I'm so looking forward to getting sleeved and having that "clarity" that you're talking about. It seems that once you can get a major issue/hinderence in your life cleared up, you can focus on how to rearrange everything else to better suit you. I'm excited for you, I can feel your positive energy in your post. Congratulations!
  11. Just ordered some samples from mybariatricpantry. I'm dreading the protein shake, but looking forward to it at the same time. Weird, I know!

Post-Op Tips For Your Spouse/Significant Other

Thanks for sharing nraeh! Your post just made me all warm on the inside. Sounds like your surgery has brought you and your hubby close together too! My poor hubby is dreading the shopping that is going to take place once the pounds begin to drop!

Only HALF the man you were a year ago? What a loser! (of course I meant that in a GOOD way!) Congrats on all your success!

Post-Op Tips For Your Spouse/Significant Other

Rick, I can so visualize that scenario in my house! My hubby is definitely gonna have to play portion police with me too! And what is her surgeon's name? Any doc that prescribes filet mignon is alright with me! Thanks for the tip about the scale and the portions. I've already told him that its time to purchase some smaller plates and utensils, but I can see how the scale will be beneficial to me in this process.

Post-Op Tips For Your Spouse/Significant Other

My hubby is awesome and supportive, however, he's the type that just likes the "meat". He did attend my info session and was at ease when he heard what the procedure entails and asked a few questions of his own. He's awesome, but definitely does not have the patience to read through the forum and all it's posts, hence the reason I asked for the vets to give me a few pointers that I could share with him on this thread. I'm gathering from the posts above that he should prepare to be very attentive and ready to take on most of the household stuff, which we already figured. I didnt think about the weight restriction thing, I'm gonna have to explain that to my little one when he wants me to pick him up. Did anyone have mood swings? How soon did you get back to your normal sex life? I'm sure these are the kinds of things hubby would like to know....

Dr. Oz and the 700 pound woman

I totally agree with the money thing. Publicity and money will make a person do a lot of things, especially if they're feeling hopeless. The more press and attention she gets, the more monetary opportunities she'll receive.
  20. 22 days to go! I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas to come so I can open all my presents!

  21. Hey Lady! How are you? You havent killed anyone lately right? LOL

To tell or not to tell...

Sorry things went as you expected, I'm the "hopeful" type as well. The good news is that it's out there. You dont have to disguise or hide your new lifestyle, and eventually they'll get over it once they see the change in you physically as well as mentally. Stop second guessing yourself. Just because you're the baby of the family (me too!) doesnt mean you arent capable of knowing what's best for you. This is your time to be selfish. Have your surgery and recover without care or concern for what people think. Doing that will just hinder your healing and make it harder for you to concentrate on what you need to do to lose your weight and become accustomed to your new life! I wish you all the best! (((((hugs))))

You're thinking like someone who wants to succeed. Dont give up now, it'll be so worth it in the end! You can do it!
