    Eating Poll

I agree congrats on the weight loss. Thanks everyone for being honest. I was really strict in the beginning and now I eat a small amount of whatever my family eats. I have lost 65 pounds since January and I am really happy with that, but I have a lot more to loose. So recently I have been being hard on myself due to not being so strict because I have hit a plateau. Part of it is due to not being able to work out. I had a sinus infection and then last week viral meningitis which of course I didn't want to do anything. Before that I had been doing a good job of at least working out three times per week and so I was still loosing weight pretty well. I think the worst part is I have started thinking, how much can I eat, rather than being happy that only a little bit makes me full. I don't like this kind of thinking so it is helpful to hear from everyone. Thanks. '

    Anyone never had a fill?

I am six months in and just had my first fill last week. It wasn't pre-filled because the doctor stated that and said he was suprised at how much I have lost without it being filled. I have lost 58 pounds so far. I was still losing weight each month, but it had slowed down a bit and I noticed I was hungry a lot and had to eat more to be full so I asked for a fill. Mine was a little painful. I had some complications during my surgery and my surgeon said that mine is kind of hard to fill because it is in deeper than most. Before my fill I was able to eat anything without it feeling stuck. So far, I am not able to eat any bread without it feeling like it is getting stuck even if it is small and I eat really slow and even a very little. I hope this goes away or I will ask that some of the saline be taken out. I almost didn't get the fill because I was worried about this getting stuck issue because I hate it because I feel like I am going to choke or throw up and I hate both. So I can see how some people struggle with it.

    shoulder-arm pain after fill

I had also read something similiar to this. But I will say, in the beginning after having surgery from time to time this would happen until learned how much I can eat without it happening. I had my first fill this last week and now I am having it a lot - I think partly due to the fact that I don't know how much I can eat. I worry that my band may be too tight, because I can't eat any bread without feeling like it is getting stuck. That is a horrible feeling. I am going to give it another week. I know my doctor doesn't want me to eat bread, but I like to eat whole grain every once in awhile.
  4. Hello. I am new to the Lap Band Forum. I had my surgery on January 17, 2011 and have been doing well. I have lost 55 pounds so far and I am really happy that I made the decision to have the Lap Band. I have a hard time asking for help, but I realized that it woud be good to try and get and give support on this forum while I am going through this process. So here I am.

Thanks. I appreciate that. I haven't posted my day of surgery story yet. But I will have to say that the pre-op was good, the people were nice and I was pretty nervous. I will be honest and say that I was in a lot more pain than I thought I would be after the surgery in the area of my port. But my doctor said I had an unusual situation where my stomach fat was very thick so it was a little more painful than most. I had a couple of friends at work have the same surgery and they went back to work in a couple of days, it took me a week. But even with the pain I experienced - I am so glad I did it. It will be worth it. Let me know how your surgery goes.
