@Renkosswhat a fabulous summer you've had so far and summer has just started! And great job in losing weight while on vacation, that is rarely done

So tomorrow for work we are going to a pizza joint. I am trying to hard to be good and keep my carbs down esp. My stomach does not handle salad very well. Any suggestions? They have fried raviolis, fries, fried mozzarella sticks, fried zucchini and chicken tenders (4 for $6.99) and wings that are super expensive and of course pizza. Good grief what should i do?

I'd bow out of the pizza place. That, or you can always just eat the toppings from the pizza and leave the crust. See if they have a low carb option as well. I once ordered a deep dish pizza in Chicago, IL low carb and it came with a sausage crust instead of dough. Was really good too! If you don't do salad well, then I'd opt for the chicken tenders over any of the other stuff. Good Luck.

Could you bring an opaque water bottle with a Protein Shake in it? Sip on that and avoid all the poor foods?...if that's not feasible for you, eat something healthy before you go and then maybe just have either a slice of thin crust pizza or the chicken fingers ( if you can avoid the ranch- I'd struggle with that for sure) Good luck!

    Hi Cathy
I related very much to what you have posted.
I have asked my husband not to bring in any baked goods ...which were not even an issue to begin with, but became one....I too, gave up exercise...but yesterday I did a beginners workout in the pool. I feel good this morning, just a bit sore.
    Thank you for posting!

Hello my fellow WLS peeps. I am on a mission to lose 50 pounds that I have regained. I am feeling hopeful and know that getting back to basics will do it. I would like this thread to be a place where we can come and be transparent and accountable. I plan on checking in with a weigh in every Monday starting tomorrow. If you want to join me, let's do this!
    Heightist weight: 289
    Lowest: 157
    Goal: 150
Attached is my before surgery pic, me at my lowest and where I am today.

Good morning friends. Today is my weigh in day. I got a new scale but my weight is pretty much around the same as last week. My new scale tells me my body fat, muscle mass, Water weight and some other stuff which is pretty cool. It's reading up .6 which I'm not sure if it's the new scales calibration or what but I know I've been eating right and exercising so I feel great. This past weekend I caved and had like 3 Starbucks caramel mochiatos in the span of two days and learned that drinking my calories isn't the wisest choice. This journey is much more to me then losing weight, its healing my mind and heart and learning to truly love myself. It's not something that will happen overnight but I know that I am well on my way. I created this thread to keep myself accountable and a part of me wanted to run and hide because I didn't have a huge weight loss but I realized that I am not doing this for anyone but myself and this is my journey. I will not quit and I know that I will reap exactly what I sow, I'm expecting a harvest on these good food choices and exercise seeds I've been sowing lol. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week and sticks with it as this is a lifelong change that must be made and the longer we avoid it the deeper we get. We can do it! I can't wait to look back on these posts in 6 months and see how far I've come, the time will pass regardless, I am choosing go make my time count!

On another note, does anyone have an iWatch? We can share our activity to keep each other motivated. Let me know!

Back from my crazy June schedule! Glad to be back on track. My husband and I went to Philadelphia earlier in the month for a long weekend via Amtrak train. Had lots of fun, saw some really great historical stuff, visited with both sides of family who live out that way, and of course dined out quite a bit. Fortunately my husband tends to be my food Nazi and everything was kept reasonable. I was allowed to indulge in one treat, and I picked a piece of Italian Creme Cake. It wasn't all that good. I have found that sweets just don't taste the same anymore to me. So giving them up is no big deal. Didn't lose, didn't gain that weekend.
Next was a 1st birthday party for my cousin's son. Lots of stuff that I could not eat (such as cassata cake, Buns, Pasta salad), but I was able to do a bunless hamburger with fixings along with some veggies. I did have a bit of chocolate pudding, but just about 2 tblspns worth. It again wasn't what I thought it would be. Learning that the sweets are easily forgotten now. It's the crackers, pretzels, chips, etc. that I have to really stay away from.
Last but not least was my week long trip to Orlando, Florida (Disney World) for a few days and then a 4 night Bahamian Cruise with my daughter. I am proud to say that I thoroughly enjoyed all of the festivities (within reason), and actually came home 4 lbs lighter (lots of walking...lots and lots). I think I probably sweated off at least 2 of those pounds. Man was it hot!
So, vacations are over. I'm proud that I was able to really stay on track, and due to the extreme exercise, what I did eat was easily lost.
I've been catching up on everyone who has posted. Stick with it! This is a Marathon, not a Sprint, and even though most of us are at least one year to many years out, I think that just owning up to the regain and being proactive in getting back to where we want to be is the biggest hurtle. We are all fabulous regardless and we will shine through and on. Hugs to all.

Hello friends! I just wanted to encourage you all to keep going and not quit. Lets remember why we started this journey in the first place and how helpless it felt when we got our surgeries. We may feel that same sense of helplessness to a degree today with regain but know that if you continue making new choices, it will pay off! Drink more Water, exercise, Protein first, limit sugar and carbs and you will see results!!! Keep at it and don't buy the lie that you can't because you can!!!

I'm with Liz on this, don't give up. We are all on this journey and we have good days and bad days. I murdered some chocolate brownies the other day and got in the "well I blew it, might as well just have more" mindset. Despite falling, I've decided that I will always get back up. Our tools are only a portion of weight loss, 90% of it is mental. We must renew our minds. Rooting for you

I am so glad that I found this thread! I am 13 years out from my bypass and 35 lbs have crept up on me. I just barley found this website. I have support at home but since my bypass I have had no follow up with my Dr (i feel like i went to a meat factory) and no support system there. My regular Drs are not as familiar with bypass so being this far out I have no idea what to do or if I should have anything checked. So since my surgery I have had three pregnancies and 4 kids (i have a set of twins). I was really good with my weight gain there only 15 lbs for my son and daughter and 30 lbs for the twins. My weight gain came after the twins. I started to drink pop again. Big mistake. my portions have increased and my exercise was zilch. I hate the way I look. I feel like I did before my surgery when I weighed 272 lbs. I have set a goal to loose that darn 35 lbs the healthy way with diet and exercise. I am going to cut out carbs as much as I can and have quit drinking soda. I have also increased my workout to at least 45 min every day. I love the fact you chose to do this! I look forward to joining you on your journey.
    Current weight 172.4
    Goal Weight 140
    Thank you again!

I weighed in at 172.8! Two more pounds! I'm getting there! Cutting out the bread, crackers, and Pasta really made a difference. Why do I love carbs so much?! I also went back to an hour of cardio and 30 minutes of weights every day except Sunday for the past two weeks.... I had missed a couple days of workouts the two weeks I didn't lose.
12.8 pounds to goal!!! I'm so scared! Terrified I won't make it. That my body will just quit losing even if I'm doing the same thing. I'm hungry and it's hard, so cutting back lower than 1,000 calories a day.... ugh, I just don't know if I can do that.

Did you keep the old scale, just to see if they weigh you the same? That would be a good starting point, to know if one weighs differently, then switch to the new one... maybe? Very cool scale!
I caught myself doing the Starbucks thing a couple weeks ago... and I didn't lose two weeks in a row. And I was order the SKINNY or the NONFAT, but still, it's liquid calories, and apparently, my body didn't like that. No weight loss for two weeks. But I know when I get to my goal, I can drink a Starbucks on a weekend as a treat. I won't need to lose then, just maintain.

Good morning friends! I am excited about what today will bring as I embark on my journey of getting back to the basics. I plan on eating 3 meals today with no snacking in between and one Protein Shake to make sure I get in all my Protein. I plan on trying to plan out my meals for the week so I don't get overwhelmed. I also am striving to drink at least 64oz of Water if not more. I hope and pray you all have a wonderful day[emoji173]️

May God bless you and keep you[emoji173]️
