  1. Tell me about it. Thanks so much for these recipes, I may try one or two. My dietitian's menu said I could advance to strained soups like Lentil, Chicken with pastas, etc. (no eating the pasta part though only strained) yogurt and cream of wheat starting on day 3. I have a tiny bowl of cream if wheat, 3 carnation instant breakfasts, and broth ( chicken or vegetable) throughout the day. I realized I wasn't drinking enough water and had to take Colace, but now I'm drinking more water a day and feeling much better. Tomato soup irritates my stomach something awful. Tried it day 3 and 4. Must be the acidity in the tomatoes. Too soon I guess, so no more Tomato soup for me for a while. I tried the vegetable broth today and it was delish. My husband said they also make a seafood broth, which I plan to go back and get. My husband's a chef, and how I miss his big meals. He needs to learn how to cook up some bariatric recipes. Having a cookout today, my big test of will power. Thanks for sharing guys. I needed a change up. I was bored to death too with the same ole. Still got more weeks to go. Good part, I've lost a bout a pound a day. Slow and steady wins the race too.
  2. I'm only 5 days post-op so I'm not suppose to have anything but, Jello, carnation instant breakfasts, broths and cream of wheat. My restrictions suck, but I'm doing very good. Lost almost 6lbs already. The band only works if you follow your dr's instructions. I'd only be sabotaginging myself if I started off this early in the game allowing holidays and others opinions get me off course. I'm on a mission. If I can't do it forth July 4th holiday weekend I won't be able to long term either. Sticking to my guns. But I will tell my daughter she's the selfish one.
  3. My adult daughter said I'm selfish for not having a 4th of July family cookout. Said its not their fault I decided to get bannded now. I think they are the ones being selfish. It has been pure torture watching them bring Chic-Fil-A and everything else in my home for themselves knowing I cant have any of it. Granted they shouldnt have to suffer because of my retrictions, but its my house, my money, my pool. Why should I shellout to buy food I cant eat? I do wnt to see my family, so I told them all hey are more than welcome to come over, but are responsible for bringing items they wish to how on the grill. I'm providing fresh NJ corn on the cob, a macaroni salad, and plates and utensils only. What do you think? Am I wrong?
  4. That is awesome! Congrats! Inspirational.
  5. My hubby and adult daughter just came in with sandwiches from Chic Fil A. Uuuuurrrgggh! Now I'm making cream of wheat. This is going to be so hard.
  6. 4th Day Post Op and I was giving my toddler a banana to keep him busy while I cook him breakfast, and without thinking took a small bite and swallowed after like 2 chews. Now I'm scared of the repercussions (getting stuck). I hear it really hurts. It happened minutes ago., so I'm waiting to see what happens. Should I wait to drink anything (broth, crystal light, etc.)?

  8. The ice cream man just drove through my block. I ignored him, but my husband pointed it out to me. I said, "we have ice cream in the fridge already." Me, I have sugar free pops so if I want something sweet that will do. All the worse foods for you taste the best I tell ya. Chewing sugar free gum right now and that really works too.
  9. I know chewing and spitting is considered a disorder, but whatever! I did it a few times, and haven't since. I'm not nor will I ever gonna laxatives, and I definitely won't make myself throw up because I ate something I wasn't suppose to. I'm trying my best to stay on the wagon thats all. So anyone trying to psycho analyze stop it. Everyone deals with things. differently. It was something that helped me at the time. I wanted to feel the texture of something other than Jello. Anyway licking Doritos is funny too.
  10. Had surgery 3 days ago and am tired of liquid diet already. Well not sick and tired of it yet, but just tired. More like bored I should say. How much Jello, Soup broth can you eat/drink. Weighed myself today and I'd lost 3 1/2 lbs since I last weighed myself 2 weeks before surgery. I know I gained weight since my last weigh in because I was eating everything I could since I knew it was the last hoorah. I had pizza, steak, lamb chops, corn, macaroni salad, ribs, shrimp, everything I knew I would not be eating for a while without any hesitation. I had to have gained at least 3 lbs since I'd last seen my doctor, which is why I believe I've lost more than 3 1/2 pounds since my last weigh in. They didn't weigh me on surgery day. Anyway, I'm sure its all Water weight, but a pound is a pound is a pound. I'll take any weight loss. The swelling has gone down quite a bit, and now I can feel where my port is much better. My husband went food shopping right before surgery and managed to get the worse, most tempting items. There are so many temptations, and everything is high in calories. I've been bad and did cheat by chewing a teaspoon worth of scrambled eggs, meat, etc. and NOT swallowing it, but spitting it completely out, juices and all. (i know its disgusting) I've done this about 6 times since yesterday. Just really craving texture other than Jello at this point. Otherwise its just been chicken broth, crystal lite juice, and jello for me. I've been going to bed early, around 8:30 or 9 pm, which helps me alot. If I'm not up late, I'm not craving those Snacks at night. Having my daughter to help me with the baby is a blessing, even though he kicked me in my stomach today by mistake. I feel good otherwise. It doesn't hurt as much when I bend or try to stand up. I am so happy to be banded right. I just wanna dance. Its gonna be a tough road I know, but I don't care. Got all of my sugar free, reduced fat crackers, foods, etc. for when I am finally able to eat regular food. I can't wait. I've had enough of the liquid stuff, but gotta do it. Talk to you so0n Oh yeah, coughing has been a challenge, but its easier now.

  12. Congratulations to all recently banded. I was banded earlier today and feeling pretty good considering. Urinating like a race horse every half hour is tripping me out. It wasn't this bad when I was preggers. So excited about this journey. Already my husband commented I'd never see 165 lbs, while the nurse agreed that 100 lbs was too much weight to lose. They both made a mistake by telling me what I can't and shouldn't do. Gonna make it that much sweeter when I reach that goal. My true goal is 135, but can definitely be happy at 150. I'm 5'8",so that wouldn't becan unhealthy weight. But for now I'm taking it one day at a time. I'm banded baby!!! Yay!!!
  13. Surgery went very well. On my way home as son as hubby comes out from pharmacy w/my meds. Feeling that gassy feeling in my left shoulder and a little sore around port, but otherwise pretty good. It hurts when I laugh. Can't wait toget home and have some chicken broth. Home now. Took my meds, was only able to drink about 2 onces of broth, now I'm gonna try to get some sleep.
  14. Thanks all, I appreciate it. I'm in the waiting room w/hubby. Got my wrist band on about to go back, butterflies and excitement at the same time. The next time I post, I'll be banded yay!!!
  15. I have surgery in a few hours and am so anxious, I only got about 2 hours of sleep which I'm sure I'll regret. No pre-diets required, only no food or liquids after 12. For some reason I keep thinking about that double strawberry cream ice cream I passed on after dinner. Regretting it now. It's gonna be a while bebore I'll be able to have that again. Been up reading all kinds of threads here and laughing to myself about my mother's attempt this morning to find out how much I actually weigh. I refused to tell her because she's sure to use that info in some kind of hurtful way. She couldn't believe I wouldn't tell her. Ha! Ha! Gonna try to get an hour or 2 sleep (on my stomach) cause I won't be able to. Naturally a belly sleeper. Will fill you guys in later on how everything went. Must remember to bring my camera to document it. Goodbye and Good Morning.
  16. My surgery is tomorrow morning. I'm a little nervous. My stomach was doing flip flops earlier for no reason. Havent felt that way in a lonfpg time. I know it was just my nerves. Okay now, but still a little nervous. Went last minute grocery shopping with my hubby and daughter, who will be helping me with my 1 year old for the next few days. Excited about beginning this journey. Praying everything goes well.
  17. Just got my surgery date today. June 27, 2011 I will be banded. So excited!
  18. Catherine55, you are so inspirational. I just got my surgery date today. June 27th I will be banded. To think in 13 days I will begin my journey back to the old me. I'm a little nervous like you allicap, but I'm more excited than anything. If I can birth 4 kids without an epidural, I know I can handle this. i've had my tonsils and gallbladder removed, so I'm no virgin to surgery. I know it wont be a breeze, and I pray everything goes fine, but I'm so ready to do this. Now ask me if I'm this hype the day before, and I'll probably be shaking in my boots. But as of today, Its full steam ahead. I just want this weight gone.
  19. Every time I here of People leaving the U.S fou cosmetic surgery, I think of Usher, the singer's wife almost dying in Brazil while getting liposuction. This can happen anywhere, and I know that alot of people chose to go outside the U.S. because it's cheaper, but I'm so afraid to. I'll have to wait doubly long to save double the money, cause I know I'm gonna need a tummy tuck. Would love a full body lift, but I'm so afraid of them. I here it's the most complex and the most dangerous of all cosmetic surgeries. Half of people who undergo the procedure have some sort of a complication. I'm just a little too scary for that.
  20. They are my favorite breed since we had one when I was a child. King was the smartest dog I'd ever had , until we got Charlie our Kerry Blue Terrier. German shepards are beautiful and smart, and very protective. Congratulations!
  21. Man getting a discount with that card, wonderful! My hubby asked me the other day id I'm sure I wanna do this? I wil be going in for surgery the end of this month or early July. Its gonns be a trip. My family is so negative. i anticipate hearing alot of snide remarks about my diet, and my portion sizes. But I'm ready.
  22. I agree with both Sandworms and Rachel you get out of the band what you put into it. Unless the band has slipped or their is some type of malfunction, it will do its job, but your job is still the hardest. It is was determines significant weight loss from plateaus and weight gain while having it. I've noticed a trend over the last 6 months on blogs, forums, youtube etc. from bandsters who are having trouble shedding the pounds and aside from band malfunctions, they are all cheaters. Whether that be with alcohol, not exercising, or poor food choices. If your drinking alcohol on weekends, or fruit juices high in calories, snacking on cookies, ice cream and other high calorie items you were told to stay away from, you are NOT gonna be successful losing the weight. If you put in the work and follow the diet, you will lose the weight you want. I've also noticed a trend in those who lose alot, and who are most sucessful at keeping it off over time, and that is, they've become alot more physically active. They take gym classes, do workout tapes, 4k runs, etc. Lapband isnt a magic pill, its just a tool to help you, but you've got to be willing to put in some work if you want to be successful. Good Luck, I'm sure you can do it. I intend to work my butt off to lose all the weight I want to. If you are too, you will.
  23. My mother who is 65 does them at the Y as well. She has lost 30 lbs since she started and looks great. She herself even laughs about how old the people are there. i asked her about the men, and she said they were so old, they had one foot in the ground (sorry!) she loves it though, and it definitely works. I just opened my pool and planned to get some cheap underwater weights from Five Below. I swim laps, but want to incorporate strength training while I'm swimming to. Hoping I'll burn more calories this way, plus like you the treadmills, eliptical machines and walks are murder on my knees. Water aroebics avoids that tension on our knees. You should definitely do it. i cant afford any gym membership right now, so I'm using my WII Fit and pool as my workout methods. Good luck! I heard those Y Memberships are costly too. Hopefully you can get some sort of discount.
  24. If I lost a pound for every negative comment I got about my weight, or lapband and the decision to get it, I'd be the same size as Halle Berry. When the receptionist at the pulmonary office said she was gonna call me Queen cause I reminded her of Queen Lateefah, I wanted to smack her. No offense to Queen Lateefah, shes a nice looking woman, but being looked at as big momma, Mammy, and anything else matronly is not flattering. Even compliments are half hazard. I dont want to be seen as some sex object, I just dont want to be looked at in disgust when I eat, and void of any physical attraction. Sorry, I was venting. Your trainer is a jerk, you may need to get a new one. Being over weight builds a tough skin we are scrutinized so much, but it also makes you bitter. I dont want to be bitter. Do what you must to make yourself happy, and dont let anyone steal your sunshine.
