  1. What I really wanted to say was, " hey there is no need to be jealous..I know it sucks to be the fat ass in the room now, but hey you can go lose weight the RIGHT way too". bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha AWESOME!!!!!
  2. I am on the 28th! Feeling a little left out of the september group being that it is the very end of the month! I am 41, 5 ft 1 and 231 lbs. I am a little nervous because just this week my allergies have flared up and I have a cough. I do not want to be coughing after surgery. Staying dilligent on my allergy medicine and praying nothing gets messed up!!!! Pre op diet is vegetarian low fat so I am not suffering to bad. Practicing on protein shakes and found some good combos I like.
  3. I drank the barium for my pre-op test last Friday. I have had WICKED gas since then. I don't know if it was the fizzies they made me drink or the barium. My "stuff" is still coming out a lighter color.... I can't imagine having to do that AFter the sleeve!!!!!! chewbacca in the house... wawwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  4. I read an article that recommended not dying your hair for 6 months to a year after surgery. OMG no way!!! I am 41 and have not had my natural drab brown now gray streaked hair natural for at least 15 years!!! I don't want to end up BALD from hair loss but I also want to keep coloring my hair.. Any suggestions? Would semi permanent be better??? Any hair stylists get the sleeve??? Should I just start saving for a wig???
  5. PB2 (the powdered peanut butter) makes my protein shakes taste like heaven!!! And if you are going to cheat, puree the heck out of it!! My doc's protocol is for 6 weeks, if I can eat it with a fork, it is to thick. And I don't know if you have blended and then strained anything, but I am AMAZED at how much thickness there still is even after blending the crap out of stuff in my blendtec. Please be careful!!!
  6. On the 28th of September I am having the sleeve, a hysterectomy and gall bladder removal with 2 surgeons and the davinci. They both say healing time will be quicker because there is less "pulling" and tweaking on the muscles. I trust my surgeons. They are men and this is a gadget. WHen is your surgery scheduled? I just hope my stupid allergies get better so i don't have this cough!!! Davinci can't help me there!!!
  7. I JUST got done making the same thing!!! IT IS GOOD!!!
  8. OHH I do have a story... At our little carnival in our town my 70 lb son and I got on one of those caged spinny/upside down rides. Well, I got on ok, sitting next to him and the bar that goes across BOTH of us comes down. My big ol belly kept it from even coming close to touching him. He is completely loose!!!! So when the ride starts going, I am having to reach my arm across and be his SEATBELT and keep his head from whacking the cage. I think we both came out bruised and he was a little freaked out. I laugh about it now because we came out ok and we have a memory. whew what a ride!!
  9. google "dry skin brushing" http://t-tapp.com/success/michellep/index.html Take lots of photos because you may miss the gradual changes. I need to start brushing, surgery is in 13 days!!!
  10. I was just at Sprouts today. They have a b1g1 free right now on some of their stuff including some soups and beans/lentils. Beffa, I will keep my eyes open for alfalfa seeds. Have you tried central market? I know they have wheat berries (to sprout wheat grass) in their bulk bins but I have never looked for alfalfa seeds. Would they be in the garden center at Lowes?
  11. I asked for one for my upcoming surgery. We will see what happens...
  12. Aorora, Yes, I have 2 amazing surgeons and they will be tag teaming me in the or with the davinci robot. Based on the ultrasound report I just read on me they will probly remove my gallbladder too. I would talk to your surgeon and let him/her know about the hernia. If your wlsurgeon "can't" do it he may be able to schedule a surgeon to jump in there after your sleeve.
  13. I went and had my pre-op tests done today and they gave me everything on a cd!!! SO I was looking at my barium swallow photo and I THINK I can identify my stomach but I can't figure out hat the top thing is. It looks like the stomach feeds out of it but I don't think it is the esophagus.. Maybe the liver??? Before anyone freaks out, I am not asking for medical advice, I am just curious. I also think what i think is my stomach looks "bent". Any comments??
  14. LOL.. well, a little embarrassed... I THOUGHT i was having an endoscopy, but actually it was an upper GI. hehehehe I was so confused, it was kinda funny. But hubby and I both took the day off from work so it was nice. Nasty barium shake made me gag... I am trying to load the cd they gave me of all my tests. They took a shot of my stomach and left it on the screen while i waited for doc and i swear it looked alive!!! Like an eel, or a hair less cat. The assistant guy said hey its the loch ness monster... hahaha it was funny....
  15. I FINALLY feel like this is FINALLY getting close! 2 weeks from today I should be sleeved. Going today for: Endoscopy (blah)- Any advice for after???? EKG Chest XRAY Blood Work and an Abdominal Ultrasound to see if we should take my gallbladder while we are taking my stomach and my uterus... hmmm.. Wonder what this stuff weighs......
  16. Post some pics!!! I can't even respond to your question cuz your livin my dream!!!!!
  17. Those sound goooooddd... I need a cupcake file!! Thanks for sharing! I am pre-sleeve but it is stuff like this that makes me think I will eat BETTER after my sleeve.
  18. I had the "hoops" to jump through for insurance. 6 month supervised diet, psych eval, sleep study. But as far as "pre-op tests", once I got my surgery date of september 28 they then gave me the pre op test orders. The pre op tests have to be done within 2 weeks of getting your surgery (at least with my surgeon). I am having bloodwork, an ekg, a chest xray, and the endoscopy thing. After doing some reading and the light bulb going off in my head I asked my surgeon if we could check my gall bladder. SO i have an abdominal ultrasound the same day I have the other tests. I think that is all. Some boxes we can't check TOO soon. Good luck on your journey!!!!!!!!
  19. Puree sounds gross but I have been practicing to see how I like things. I find that most non meat soups (especially bean soups) blend really well. My doc's stages are different, after I get out of hospital I start on all blended/applesauce consistency foods for 5 weeks. SO soups are good, I make boiled cauliflower then blend it with some broth and cheese and add non flavored protein to that... I have a lobster bisque soup for after surgery and if i like it then I might get bold blending other things. Maybe store bought creamed soups? Check out some bean soups, good protein. Good luck!!
  20. oh PLEASE let me be cold!!!!! I am always the hottest person!!! (haha) I suffered all summer in the texas heat without ac in my van, cold sounds really good!!!!!!!!!
  21. I HATE artificial sweetners too!! I really tried to "like" crystal light but it is nasty. I am pre-sleeve but am looking at ways to bypass all artificial sweeteners. I want to try "fruit infused water" and I will be juicing some. ON the juicing, primarily greens with a few low glycemic fruits (don't want to hijack the thread with freak outs that I am going to juice, I will watch the carbs and sugars.. ) Agave Nectar is what i try to use.
  22. LOL.. This is great! Keep the names coming. It's a great laugh. Still thinking of what to name mine. Two types of sleevers are really sticking out to me lately, the analyzing and the lets throw in some humor and cuteness to get through this. I will definetely name my sleeve and I will have a cutesy doggie bag for yummy leftovers that will make multiple meals.. And I will still lose weight and be successful. Sleevie ray vaughan bwahahahahah love it... maybe SLeevie Nicks too!! Slevette, Sleevietta, Sleveline, Minnie, Austin Growlers, Sleeva (like diva if she is picky), Pouchie, ok, i will stop now... hehehehe
  23. I like leftovers. Less time in the kitchen, less dishes to wash. And my two teenage boys love anything and are bottomless pits. The responses have been interesting. Thank you!!!
  24. There are some events I go to every year that serve some delicious food. I hate to waste it and asking for a "to-go" container may not be possible (ladies luncheon at church, husband's christmas party with the best food i have all year). I have visions of my grandma at the buffet with her little ziploc baggies taking food home for her dogs. Has anyone invented a purse sized reusable doggie bag that is discreet?? LOL.. it seems so funny to ask this but what the heck!! Who wants to throw away 4 ozs of filet mignon!!! I would love to hear how y'all bring home your leftovers. No point in wasting it if it can last a few meals!!! I thought about keeping a mini car adaptor plug in ice chest handy in the car for when I do have leftovers.
  25. I have noticed quite a few post op folks talking about eating and "not feeling full." Does this mean you still "feel hungry" or are you just not feeling that sensation you are use to to know when to stop? My surgeon told me to measure my food in either 1/4 or 1/2 cup servings (i need to look) and eat that so many times a day. With all the water he has me drinking I don't expect to feel the ravenous hunger I would feel now, but just curious about the "full" feeling. I am hoping to train myself to eat based on measurements and not the feeling anymore. That "full" feeling pre op for me equates to a giant chipotle burrito, chips and guac. No bueno...
