  1. I had my first fill yesturday. I have a 10 ml band and my doctor put in 2.5 ml's. I was really hoping for a better result but still feel that everything goes right down, and my goal for fullness and lack of hunger is not what I had hoped for. My next appointment is not for another 6 weeks but I am going to call to see if he would be willing to see me again sooner. dry.gif. I know it's a "process" but I was really hopeful about continuing my journey at this point with a successful first fill.

  2. Thanks friends for saying what I really needed to hear!! I have been trying to exercise a bit, never been very good at that part <_<. I have been drinking a lot of Crystal Light, maybe I should drink plain Water more as well. I know I did not get heavy drinking too much Crystal Light in life but it does have calories. I have been looking at my carbs and fat but I will be more conscious of that. I guess I just needed some feedback and you all gave me some great words!! Thanks again!!

  3. blink.gif Well, here I am, guessing that I have already arrived at "Plateau Island". Between pre op, and inital post op phases of diet I quickly lost 19 lbs. Now I am on soft foods, calculate, measure and log everything I eat (900-1000 calories a day), and have not lost any weight in over 2 weeks. My band buddy at work keeps telling me it's because I haven't had a fill yet, but my thinking does not accept that. Fill or not, I am still only eating 900-1000 calories a day. My only hope with a fill would be that I would be more satisfied and less hungry with what I am eating. Any thoughts out there?? I am trying so hard, when you have 60 lbs to lose, you would think some more would come off, even if it was 1 lb a week or something!! This is where I would always stop losing weight with my dieting before the band and I am so scared right now.

  4. I noticed that too LOL :)

People mentioned eating being the culprit.......hmmm.....not so sold on that though in my case?

    U?

Well, although I have tried to be completely compliant with the Full liquid phase, I admit that since the swelling has gone down, I have tried to eat some things with poor success (throwing them back up). I ate 2 bites of a turkey slice and it immediately felt stuck and came back up.

  5. SO WEIRD!!!!

I had this yesterday! I did not know what it was? Thought could it be related? I asked myself the same questions a u? I iced it a bit and that helped. Thought to myself maybe bc I am sleeping on my right since the port is on left?

Curious if we get replies~thanks for posting!

*BTW* I am 2 weeks post-op tomm. too!

Allicap, I love getting your replies because we seem to mimic each other so much!!!!!! Lets see what happens to "our" post!! I have definitely been sleeping more on the right than the left though too!!

  6. Hey there friends, I am 2 weeks post op and overall doing really well. BUT, a few days ago I developed a "side ache". My left side feels the kind of discomfort you get when you run or exercise and get a side ache and need to stop. Only mine is constant and increases with just walking (so my activity has not been where I had hoped). Just wondering if anyone in Lap Band world is familiar with this or if I actually pulled a muscle with something unrelated??

  7. Hi Apple! I'm having the same problem! My band is empty, but I can't keep anything down! I'm going for an upper GI on Tuesday. I'm glad you're feeling better! It gives me hope! Did your dr say why he thinks you weren't able to eat?

My abdomen was full of air still and probably swelling as well. Things actually started to go down easier and easier once I heard that everything was OK. Maybe I was more anxious than I realized :P

  8. I was banded June 16th and I am supposed to be on full liquids but was having much difficulty this last week so was on clears for most of the time. The couple of times I had Soup, I had some split pea soup because it is really high in Protein (as far as Soups go). Tonight I am going to have some from Fresh and Easy: 1 cup (which is more than enough if I can get that down) is 140 calories with 9 gms of Protein!! Just an idea. :)

  9. After a very difficult week of getting stuff down, having an Upper GI, and crying a few times, I think I am finally turning a corner towards "band life". I was getting more and more anxious as things were having difficulty getting down if they had any consistancy at all. I have lived the last 9 days on Crystal Light, Isopure, and chicken broth. Anything thicker (like an actual shake) just wouldn't go down without a great deal of discomfort. My wonderful doctor had me do and Upper GI yesturday which showed that everything is where it should be which relieved a great deal of worry at that point. Anyway, I am down a couple lb's and the pain is better and better. Still a little round in the middle with bloating but that too is getting better. Whoo Hoo! All I have to say for those people who bounce back and go to work after only a few days, you guys are rock stars  !!! I really needed a full week off of work!!

  10. I got banded June 16th as well! Today has been the worst as far as pain and restriction in my stomach goes. I think my stomach is swelling in reaction to the band being there. I woke up this morning having difficulty getting pain meds down for the first time since surgery. Anyway, getting up and walking around helped a lot. Still just trying to stay hydrated, a little afraid to advance to phase I fully with my shakes today. Drinking Isopure instead.

  11. HI!

I am only one day post op but the port pain is real bad!!!

Anyone have any suggestions other than icing it that got you through? How long did you feel the pain there?

Thanks in advance for you support~

Hey Girl, I am just 2 days Post Op and the majority of my pain has been in that area as well. I have just been taking my pain meds and Gas X strips with decent relief. You are not alone!!

  12. Tell you what. Put away your scale right now. Take it out again when you're two weeks past surgery. You'll be thrilled at how much you've lost.

Thanks, you guys are the BEST!! I guess I am just getting anxious, excited and nervous! I have been working for this since last October and now my band is waiting for me tomorrow!!! I am so ready, prepared, informed... blah blah blah, but I have had such a hard time with weight loss thus far, I am afraid I will be THE ONE it just doesn't work on.

  13. So, I went to the doctors on Monday for pre op stuff. I get my band TOMORROW!! Anyway, I have been on these clears with Protein Drinks for 3 days and have not lost ANYTHING!! I am nervous now that the band won't even work because apparently eating less that 1,000 calories the last couple days has done nothing to my fat stores. Am I expecting too much?? I would love some feedback because I feel doubtful at this moment. :(

  14. I'm using a magic bullet and have noticed I'm getting about 2" of air floating above the shake. I used 1 scoop of Jay Robb, 1/2 cup canned sliced peaches, 1 cup 1% milk, and 4 ice cubes. I have to keep the bullet pulsating for 20-30 seconds minimum to puree the peaches since I'm only 8 days post-op.

What am I doing wrong or is there a fix to this besides putting it in the fridge and waiting for the air to dissipate?

The GNC Blender Bottle is really cool!! No air bubbles in my shakes so far!! $ 8.99.
