  1. Sorry it is so constant - the reason for the gas is air that is blown into your stomach during surgery - Try drinkling some hot tea - peppermint seems to work as well as a heating pad - it will get better promise
  2. I am just now starting on solids and like everyone so afraid of vomiting and getting stuck...I choice very carefully what to eat and CHEW CHEW CHEW CHEW CHEW- I mean it is liguified before I swallow (which is what my doc said to do) I take very small bites - and watch the clock and take my time to give the swallow time to move down.Another thing I did to start was have something moist to add to the food I was trying ..such as ketchup to help moisten my first go with a new food. I actually had porter house steak tonight and told my Hubby I was afraid to try it -- he gave me the tenderest part and said you have to start sometime and I am right here with the hot Water ready if you need it! So i went for it (i am a conavore and coiuld eat meat all day - I took teeny tiny bites and dada I ate about 2 oz~~~!!! Of course everyone is different and they say after you have a fill you may not be able to eat things you did prior --- Here is to all of us for no PB Vomit or SLIMING~~
  3. I only know that sugar can trigger your appetite for more sugar and they are considered empty calories

  7. Welcome - you will find this forum very helpful. The poster's are freindly and informative - I have found this to be a great place for information and to ask questions. They are also so motivating~~~
  8. Of course I am only 3 weeks post op but this is what helps me - 3 meals a day if I snack it is usually 1x a day and my choice is sugar free Jello or sugar free posicle - now that watermelon season is here I am going to have watermelon LOTS AND LOTS of liquid- Sugar free only no calorie drinks 9Sugar Free Crystal lite- Kool Aide - Hawain punch and plain old Water is great in this HOT Texas weather (Sugar Free Hawain Punch is sweet so takes any sweet cravings away~ I was a big sweet eater) Protein as main food -keeps me satisfied- have some fruit in the am with Breakfast and lucnh, veggie with dinner Very few carbs - I love Sweet Potatoes so if I really want potatoes I choose Sweet vs White Excercise daily - like someone above posted anything to keep your body moving for a period of time Use small plates- bowls and my grandson sppon and fork If I feel "head hungry" I will usually sip on something till i figure out if it is real hunger - if it is I eat Keep myself busy - reading- walking or do my needlepoint instead of previous habit of bored - watching TV and eating a bag of chips or Cookies I do not focus on food all day such waht will I eat - when can I eat etc. Hope this helps Good luck
  9. Can someone tell me what the Tricare requirements tog et the band are?
  10. I need ab excercises as well and at a loss (I had back surgery so limited on floor excercises) have tried crunches on ball but I quess I am not coordinated enough yet because I slip off the ball or rather roll ......hubby finds it funny ..i find it annoying What is Plank? And Body Pump? Any suggestions would be great -- I have a pool does anyone know of pool excercises for the abs?
  11. I agree I think that was rude~ Since she has been banded for two years and never got stuck before - she obviously does not know what to do - hence the reason for posting her question and attempt for help....
  12. You are both only 4 and 5 days post op I would not focus so much on the protein - I too became satisfied on 1/2 protein shake 4 oz each meal (drinking 2 a day maybe) which is what my doctor advised for the first 5 days - drink the protein shake slowly to avoid getting "full" Protein will keep you energized and satisfied - you do need your liquids - tea- water-crystal lite - sugar free Kool aid and Hawain punch (they have great flavors in individual packets) you do need to stay hydrated- If it is any consoliation I was concerned because I could not "eat" much and mdoctor said that is typical for at least the first week. Remember you are still healing --- :scales:
  13. I was an addict - Diet Coke Addict~~~ monimum of 3 a day usually more -- I gave it up 3 weeks pre-op (I am now 3 weeks post op) and even I can;t beleive I do not miss it like I thought I would -- so far so good - hang in there may not be tto bad for you either Heres to hoping for ya :bananajump:
  14. GREAT JOB~ You are an inspriation
  15. I had 10 days liquid pre-op and 1 week clear liguid- then 1 week liquid (anythign you could get thru a straw- 1 week mushies and then slowly start solids- Every doctor is different and remmeber the band has to heal and settle itself for a bit after surgery - and if your like most of us - you will not even really want to eat the first couple fo weeks GOOD LUCK KEEP US POSTED
  16. Welcome Skinny girl - This is such an informative site with such helpful people - Good luck on your journey SO far I LOVE MY BAND And I am sure you will too
  17. So today was the first Measurement Date since day before Surgery - Boy it was tough not measuring before today Patience is NOT one of my virtues BUT I did wait - LOST 10.5 inches total! I am pleased - Bummera - I only lost 3lbs in the last 10 days I thought it would be more BUT 3LBS IS 3LBS~~~ and no gain - hoping I am just retaining water since I am due TOM have symptons but no activity for the last 2 weeks ARGGGGGGGGGGG And no chance of pregancy thank goodness
  18. Thanks for the information- can I ask if the doctor said 2 weeks of liquid why you are chosing to do one week??
  19. ABSOLUTELY~ I am 3 weeks post op and LOVE MY BAND- I was always tired - took a nap every day no energy- Now I have tons of energy already - have not taken any meds for Diabeties in 3 weeks! ~ Feel great no more naps and its just getting better - now I will keep having more energy to play with my gransdon and my grandson that is on the way~ Can;t wait to weigh in in the morning and see how much more weight I lost- Just remmeber the band is a tool- you still ahve to so your part however the band has helped me stay focused and gives me more desire to continue with good habits
  20. Hi I am 50 years old was banded June 8th - recovery was fast and I am doing great LOVE MY BAND ALREADY- Haven't weighed in 9 days will weigh on Saturday but I am confident I have lost a few pounds ....(had to change weigh in date due to travel for work) Of course I am dying to get ont he scale early :Banane45: but alas I will be strong~ I will update ticker Sat.... It took my stomach about 1.5 weeks for the swelling to go down - You ladies walking already is great - my experience was the same the first week- walk walk walk -and GAS X Strips. Now I did not have severe gas pains UNTIL 4 DAYS POST OP-- THEN OH MY however The pain in the shoulder was very sharp (takes your breathe away) but only lasted for an hour or so - this happened Day 5 as well - then Day 6 for just a few minutes and since NO GAS PAIN- My advise HOT LIQUIDS- HEATING PAD AND GAS X Worked great during the gas pains - Hope you all have a great recovery and please keep in touch would love to chat with ladies in my "age group" and as positive as you all seem to be :cheatfree:
  21. My total calories each day are 500-550 and yes I do eat about 1/2 cup each meal 3xs a day occasional snack of sugar free Jello or 100 calorie chees bites I also drink at least 64 iunces of liquid a day
  22. Forgive my ignorance ..what is the chest strap
  23. I agree - I am 3 weeks post op and following my docs rule to the letter- I eat ona small plate -small bites chew chew chew and eat "good foods" The max I can eat in the 20-30 minutes is about 1/2 -3/4 cup and I am very satisfied - (I go for my first fill July 19th) I do ignore the Head hunger and do not want to Slime or Vomit so I am very careful with amounts etc. My doc never said I COULD NOT EAT MORE he just reccomends the amount that should satisy me and banders- What I chose to do is up to me ...So far docs rules have worked
  24. Protein Shakes - soft cheese-Eggs,Tuna Fish and Beans of any kind refried etc...I still have a tough time gettinG in all my protein and I am 3 weeks post op starting solids ;0
