Can I Just Live Off Muscle Milk Light Please?! =)
I work in the building right next door to Cytosport, the company that makes Muscle Milk. My co-workers and I always try to guess what flavors they are working on each day based on the scent. When they are manufacturing, you can smell it for about a block in each direction!

How Do I Not Tell Anyone?
I'm three months out and haven't told anyone at work. Lots of people are noticing my weight loss, (60 pounds now, including pre-op) but also noticing the Protein and vegetable based meals I eat, my healthy Snacks, and they see me "checking in" at the gym several times a week via Facebook or Foursquare. When people have asked about my loss, I point to those things. I'm not an easy loser and I'm working hard for every pound. I dont feel like im being "dishonest" about what im doing. I feel like I'm one of those people who could easily stay heavy despite the sleeve if I wasn't working so hard. I don't feel like its my job or my place to be an example or a poster child for wls to anyone. I was back to work at 4 days post-op and had my surgery done over the Thanksgiving holiday, so i didnt miss more than a few days of work. I don't think anyone has a clue about my surgery. None of their business!

First Day Back At Work after Gastric Sleeve Surgery... Nsv!
I went back to work six days after my surgery (did a couple half-days, that first week back). I have a desk job so it wasn't too bad. Not ONE person other than my family has noticed I've lost any weight. it's so weird! I didn't tell anyone at work what my surgery was about, so I'm definitely under the radar!

Gastric Sleeve Surgery Incision Question
I am three weeks out and still have that sensation, too... It's more like a twinge or pinch in my muscle, close to the surface rather than deeper down in my abdomen. Sort of annoying, but I'm hoping it passes soon.

Did You Get Disability Time Off From Work Or Have To Use Vacation Time For Gastric Sleeve Surgery?
I also planned my surgery over Thanksgiving, I ended up using two sick days and two vacation days in addition to the paid holiday time off I had. I went back to work a week after surgery. I have a desk job, so it wasn't a huge deal for me.

I Can Take Big Drinks Of Water At 1 Week Post-op.... Is This Ok!?
I was thinking the same thing! I've had no issue getting my liquids in. It's not like I'm chugging anything, but it's more than a tiny sip that I can manage. It still takes me plenty of time, so maybe they aren't all that big...

Pre-op appointment done!
Hi All! I had my last pre-op class yesterday in South San Francisco. Just one week till surgery and I am getting SO nervous! Luckily I have plenty to get done at work before then, and an early Thanksgiving dinner for my family this weekend, as I will be in hospital on Thanksgiving (hopefully going home that night, I will be thankful indeed!) I'm an emotional rollercoaster right now, and it looks like a LOT of us are enjoying that particular ride! It's SO helpful to read about the rest of you, makes me feel like I am not alone!

Another NSV at 11.5 Months out!
I always used to joke that I must be a queen because my pantyhose told me so! I'm getting sleeved next week, can't wait for them to quit telling me that!

So, Just How Many Times Did You Freak Out Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!
I am eight days out from surgery, and have had a few mini-meltdowns so far! I want this SO badly that I worry every step of the way that something is going to happen to postpone or somehow disqualify me from having surgery. I go in for my final pre-op consult and blood work today, and then I should be good to go. I can't wait to be past the point of worrying about having the surgery. The hard work to come will be a welcome respite from the "hurry up and wait"!

Surgery day is November 23rd
My surgery day is also the 23rd, Just two weeks out now. I'm nervous and excited!

How open were you about getting sleeved?
I tol my sister and she pretty much cut off all contact with me. She definitely has a lot of her own issues to deal with, is morbidly obese and will find every excuse not to do anything about it, yet constantly and incessantly complains about her health. I hope this hasn't been an irreparable rift between us, but i refuse to live the rest of my life carrying this much weight. I am scheduled for surgery in 2 weeks. I have told my fiancé and my kids. They are very supportive, except my 14 year old som is very worried for me. We do a lot of talking through feelings these days! I am telling my boss and a supervisor that I am having surgery but not what it's for. I've had kidney stones in the past and I know they will assume it has something to do with that. I'm just not going to spend much time correcting their notions.

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
If anyone reading this is taking their info class at Kaiser Vallejo tomorrow, (Tuesday, June 28) let me know! I'll be there. I'm a tall redhead. I'll likely have a motorcycle helmet with me, because I can't leave it out on the bike! I'll be pretty easy to find! Say hi if you see me! -Christine

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
Hi everyone! My name is Christine and I'm just starting my journey with all of this. I am not a complete newbie to the process, as I will be the 5th (!!!) person in my family to be banded. The others have had various degrees of success, and, not coincidentally, various degrees of commitment to actually lose the weight. One of the hardest things for me may be to put aside my preconceived notions based upon what I have seen of their experiences and focus on my OWN experience, no matter what that may be. I have my info meeting at Kaiser in Vallejo next month. I live here in Vallejo and would love to talk to other Kaiser kids about what to expect from this process, though I've been doing a lot of reading already. My kaiser doc says she has no issue with referring me. my BMI is 36 and I have high BP and am waiting for my other tests to come back. Now that I've made the decision to pursue this wholeheartedly, I'm SO ready to get the ball rolling. I look forward to getting to know the folks here! -Christine
