    Any March Sleevers?

I have my pre op appt next week and will most likely have a March date! So hello March sleevers!

    I'm not telling.

I have only told my kids. I intend on telling my exhusband as he will be taking me to the hospital. I may tell my parents, but only after, AND ask them not to say a word to any of my other family. On the same token I am not going to lie either. If someone asks, I'll let them know, but right now, its my personal journey. I want to be focused mentally and be prepared physically through the process and not allow any external factors interfere or ridicule me for MY decision. I am not telling anyone at work unless asked also.

    surgery Feb 7th

Congrats! I am waiting to see if I will join you as a Feb Sleever or a March, much will have to do with my work schedule and kids spring breaks! I was wondering about stage two and about how much time I'm taking off of work. Right now I am hoping to have it mid-week or end of week and take off a few days, but not many. I want to save as many days as possible. I, too, will only be there 23 hours. Love plain yogurt!

Fun visual ways to track weight loss

Ok, I was just watching something and it reminded me about this post! So this really isn't on the subject of "tracking" weight loss, BUT it is about our commitment to weight loss. What about putting a ring on our dominant hand so that when we reach for food we are reminded of our commitment to ourselves, our family and our life? Similar to a wedding ring, just a regular ring that can hold up over the years that can remind us daily of this commitment...

    Where Do I begin?

Good luck to you! There are several people on here and in other forums who have switched to sleeve after their lapband fails. If you need some guidance you can search in the search engine for their group or for members with similar experiences! I hope you find the answers you need!

    unsupported spouse

Coming from someone who has been in a controlling and abusive relationship I tell you to do what is best for you. Find a friend or family member who is supportive and just have them take you and support you in this. I agree, don't allow him to control decisions that you feel are the best for you. Be strong and confident knowing that you deserve it, if this is truly your decision. Best of luck to you and we are always here for you too!
  11. Just approved! Got it today, very surreal...

  12. I have not yet had the surgery but I can relate. I am from Chicago and now live in Dallas. Whenever an ice or snow storm was coming my first priorities were getting gas and loading the pantry so I didn't have to leave the house. I would get excited to just eat the good stuff and watch movies, but now I guess we have to find a different coping mechanism through the storm. I was thinking about this the other day: cleaning, new projects, something to keep busy in the house.
  13. The insurance requires it to make sure you are educated about the process and have a chance at succeeding. The same reason for the psych too. They are investing their money in you almost as a wager, if you are successful, then they pay less overall from the health benefits of the procedure itself.
  14. Sigh, waiting...been more patient this time around, BC needs to respond asap...

That happened to me 2 years ago! If I could have afforded it I would have done the same thing! Good luck to you and now you have the control! Good for you!

    Extremely Nervous

I have been researching various wls since 2011 because of my back also. I was basically told lose all my weight and use my muscles they way they should be used to support my spine or get my vertebrae fused. So here I am. I am confident that down the road in a few months you will feel so much better! Best of luck to you and as always if you're in doubt call your doc!
  20. I want to clarify some things before I give any advice. Are these nutritional visits for you to apply for insurance or are you self-pay?

    Coconut milk

I don't like soy either. I am told the almond is better.
  22. I agree, that has happened to me too...felt horrible the first time I found out and I could tell it bothered my son.

    Before and after pics finally!

I couldn't post on your pic, said no permission, but you look great! Awesome job! Now healthier for those kiddos, congrats!

    tough decision

I encourage you to research as I did, was set for the band and a good doctor unrelated to what I was doing along with my brother who is a pediatrician both separately recommended the sleeve. I'm not here to convince you either way, it is an individual decision. I would search google for JMA or NIH articles comparing the band and sleeve. Also, Dr. Oz did a video presentation on the difference and posted statitics in his video regarding the long term % of "excess weight" lost. Good luck on your decision!
  25. I'd call the surgeons office and let them know they are missing out on $ because of this issue and speak with the office manager there, have her correct it asap through the surgeons contract with Cigna. I'm sure they will get that in pretty quickly, go past the coordinator straight to the surgeon's office manager.
