I LOVE Dr. Zizi!! He is a great dr. I have lost about 75 lbs, but I have to confess that I have been maintaining since about december just because I want to. I really feel great at the weight I am and enjoy eating a little of everything too much to get back strict right now. My best friend is having surgery with him this Friday.

Hey guys!! I am getting sleeved on may 1st!!! I'm so excited to find others on here from Louisiana!!! Have either of you had your surgery yet??? Would love to hear your stories!
Hey there! I'm from the Ruston area. Who is doing your sleeve? I had mine done june of 2011 with Dr. Zizi in West Monroe. I love it!!

YES,YES,YES!! Then I feel guilty for thinking that, like I'm judging someone who has my same problem. I just remember how miserable, self loathing and self conscious I was before my surgery and weight loss. I wish I could pay for every person who wants to help themselves to have this surgery. I feel like my normal thinner self when I was younger.

I'm 9 months out and I still burp when I eat. I don't know why but I have from the start. I don't even notice it any more.

I had one son in Afghanistan and one in Iraq and need a little anxiety help last year. I can't say about Zoloft but the dr put me on Wellbutrin and I actually lost weight! Good luck

Everyone has to do what makes them comfortable, but I tell anyone that asks. My reason for this is someone told me or I would never have even considered it for myself and I am so grateful that she chose to share. Since my surgery one of my cousins has had the sleeve and a best friend is having it this month, both due to my surgery and weightloss. Weightloss is such a battle and I just think I would like to help as many people as I can win this battle. I put myself in their shoes and if a friend was losing a lot of weight and I needed to lose too and asked them how they are doing it and they told me just diet and exercise and then I found out they had surgery I would feel a little betrayed. I just love what my sleeve has done for me and love sharing it.

Sounds like old blood.

I was full liquid for a couple of days post op then puréed adding solid foods each day and cleared for anything except carbonation and alcohol at 5 weeks.

I'm 9 months out and freezing all of the time!! I use to be hot all the time now I'm cold all the time. I think they took out my thermostat. Lol

My doctor said carbonation is allowed after 3 months and that you really can't stretch out your sleeve. If it is done right the stretchy part of the stomach is gone. Diet soda not regular soda is ok.

gettinthinner, I am the wrong one to talk about exercise. lol I don't do any other than walking at work, and that is not much as I am an ultrasound tech, and house or yard work. I live in Louisiana and it is already in the 80s here and also humid so I know where you are coming from. I have a treadmill that looks very nice sitting in my sun room but I've only been on it about 2 times. If you find that motivation please share the secret with me.

My surgeon never set a goal for me either. I was 135 when I was younger and just thought 150 was a weight I could probably get to and maintain. I am probably going to start exercising myself to tone up and whatever happens just happens. If I never lose another pound the surgery was a success and I will be happy with my results.

Thank you all for your support. You are all doing such a fantastic job!! I am so proud of us all. We rock!!!!!

I am 9 months out from surgery and have been "maintaining" at 165 for about 3 months now. I have occasionally gotten frustrated at myself for not getting this last 15 lbs. off and getting to my goal weight. It is totally my own fault because I eat anything I want and don't exercise. So yesterday I stop at Wal-Mart on my way home because I have NO shorts that fit and I'm standing there trying to decide what size to buy. The shorts are 50/50 cotton and linen so I know they will stretch when I wear them and I can't decide if I should get a size 8 or a 10 and then it hits me.... why the heck am I giving myself so much grief over these last 15 lbs, this time last year I was trying to decide whether to buy size 18 or 20 shorts!!! Wow life is so awesome now. I can run with my grandchildren, plant the garden with my husband and eat a tiny bit of anything I want and maintain a size 8 or 10. So maybe I will lighten up on myself and just enjoy the moment, I will get to my goal, maybe not right this minute, but I will get there. So I say we enjoy this journey and the new life we've given ourselves. I hope you all have a great day.

She didn't do it to lose weight, although she did lose a lot at first and has kept the majority of it off. She eats lots of sweets so I would say the fact that she has kept any of it off is due to not having but 1/4 of a stomach. lol I think that the fact that we are doing for weight loss will make us concious of not regaining. ( that made sense in my head) lol

Hey I'm not exactly an oldie but I can tell you that this surgery has been around a long, long time for stomach cancer and ulcers and such. It is new as a stand alone procedure for weight loss. My mother in law had abut 3/4 of her stomach removed about 30 years ago because of bleeding ulcers and she is doing great.

I don't count carbs at all so it's not a carb thing that keeps me from eating them, they just don't set well with me. I am 9 months out and I still can't take but a bite of a flour tortillia without feeling like it is a lead ball in my stomach. Maybe toasted in the oven? that's what I do to crisp them up and make it easier to eat.
-
My doctor told me I could eat anything at all in moderation. I guess each dr. is different. I eat corn, coconut whatever. The only thing I really can't tolerate is ice cream for some reason. It makes me so sick.

My doctor leaves a drain in for 6 days and it was not painful at all. It also didn't hurt coming out just kind of a strange feeling but no pain at all.

I love lemons and salt too! When I was first sleeved I would use an ice shaver (rival at wal mart for about $15) and fill a bowl with shaved ice then squeeze lemon juice over it and salt it and eat it. I ate a lot of that in the first few weeks post op.

Another one I've run across on here and another site I visit is people saying they are "6 (or whatever) days post off." What they obviously mean is post op. I'm in the medical field and this drives me nuts! lol
