Being Sleeved In The Real World

I have also found another little help when I want something sweet I have a Special K protein meal bar, I dont' count carbs so this is perfect. Tastes like a candy bar but 170 cal and 10 grams of protein. I usually eat half now and half later in the day. With a real candy bar lots more calories and no protein, so I feel like I have a treat and something good for me too.

Being Sleeved In The Real World

I am exactly like you penpen. I eat what I want but the amount is so small it is ridiculous. I have decided that I am going to live my life without guilt or regrets because those things sure didn't keep me from getting fat to start with and they certainly didn't help me lose the weight. I notice my thin friends foods and I eat even less than them! I eat a lot of chicken, steak, nuts and whatever else the family is having. I also have to eat about every 2-3 hrs. If I want something sweet I eat it, but one cookie satisfies me instead of the whole bag. I love this life and my sleeve more and more every day.
  4. Awesome! I love this post. I was thin all of my life until I was about 27 or so and never felt satisfied with myself just like you. While I am not at goal, I have another 20 lbs or so to go if I never lost another pound I would still be happy with me now. I love this new life and I love to read your posts. You go girl and live this glorious life you have given yourself.
  5. I am 5 months out from surgery start weight 239 current weight 172 and I have no idea how many carbs I eat. I count calories and stay under 1000 a day. I also have done zero exercise. I find that I'm beginning to love the stalls cuz that's when the inches fall off. I was in a tight 20 and now I'm in a 10 or 11. I eat what my family does just way, way less.

    Drain?

My Dr. left a drain in for 6 days post op. I had to drink sugarfree grape koolaid several times a day to make sure it didn't show up in the drain. It was to make sure there was no leaks. I was told if anything purple was in there to call them immediately.
  11. LOL.. I know this because I love sf grape hawaiian punch, that is my main drink and I was concerned at first cause my poop was really green and then a friend at work told me it was because of the drink. And yes she was right. Good luck.
  12. If you are drinking alot of purple colored crystal light or koolaid that will make it green too. Also the protein drinks make me go to the bathroom alot.
  13. Sugarfree hawaian punch is my main drink. It's sooo good. My surgeon said no carbonation for the first 2 months and then in moderation. I have tried a sip or two of diet coke and I hate the way it feels in my stomach.
  14. You are not alone. My first weeks I could hardly eat and felt so tired all the time. When u get to eat real foods and get your vitamins in you will feel better. I'm almost 4 months out and I still can only eat about 8 or 9 bites every 2-3 hrs but I feel great and have lost 59 lbs. Just hang in there it does get better.

    Dinner @ Chili's

I am the exact same way, when my husband and teenage son are eating ( neither one overweight at all) I have to leave the room sometimes. Just watching them eat so much and knowing I use to match them bite for bite almost makes me sick. The thought of going to a buffet is awful.

    Carb Debate (Friendly)

I totally agree that we each know our own bodies best. Before surgery I never lost well on Atkins or Sugar busters or any of the low carb diets. I do best counting calories so that is what I do. I've lost 58 lbs since surgery on June 24th doing this and I don't feel deprived or like I'm cheating ever. I just started exercising this week to bump things up a little. I am certainly NOT advocating this but a college professor did a research project I think it was last year and ate nothing but junk food and limited his calories and still lost weight. Of course you want to be as healthy as possible so that is not even an option, but I am a firm believer in burn more calories than you eat and you will lose weight. Just my opinion.

    Sleeve leakage

Each Dr. is so different, I came home from the hospital on mushie/pureed foods and by week 5 was cleared for anything. I know I felt much better the more I got real food in.

    50 down!!!

I am sooooo sorry longer-life, I was looking at these on my phone at work and between patients and I guess I just overlooked yours. Please forgive me. I guess what I think I do different is I do eat carbs and I don't forbid myself anything. I dont weigh anything and I really only track my calories. That being said I do try to make good choices. I think the key for me, and this is just my take on it, is that as soon as i forbid myself something that is all I want. It's the old mindset of feast or famine that I had before surgery. I eat what everyone else is eating and stop when I begin to feel full that way I get the taste of the food I want and yet can only eat a teeny tiny portion of it, but my stomach feels like I ate a whole plate full. That is exactly what I wanted this surgery to do for me.
