    Louisiana Sleevers??!

I was sleeved June 24,2011 by Dr. Zizi in West Monroe, La. I am down 30 lbs.
  3. I hear ya. Even the nurse that took me back to get me ready for surgery said you don't look like you are big enough for this surgery. I'm 5'7" and weighed 239. When I told her my weight she said well you don't look like it. Are you kiddin me, I'm 100 lbs overweight. Only I know how fat and unhealthy I felt at that weight.
  4. Hey I'm 3 wks today and it does get better. I had some complications post op and my first two weeks were full of crying and buyers remorse. Just stay hydrated and I promise every day you will feel better. My dr starts solids at 2 wks and that made a hugh difference. I feel normal now that I can have real food for my protein. Right now though hydration is your main goal. Good luck. I know you will start feeling better soon.
  5. I have NEVER lost much weight in the past doing high protein low carb I always did my best counting calories but on here all I keep seeing is carb, carb, carb. I'm wondering if anyone else is doing calories instead.

    Gross Question!

If you are taking iron that can make it green.

    Calorie vs carb

My dr recommended the liquid centrum and it's not too bad

    Calorie vs carb

Isn't it strange how our bodies are all so very different. In the past I have done Atkins and lost only 6 or 7 lbs in a month but if I do under 1000 calories a day I've lost up to 35 lbs I'm a month even using some of my calories for a sweet treat. So I guess this is the perfect tool for my weight loss. Good luck to all of us on our new lives.
  9. I am doing better every day. My dr starts solids after 2 weeks and that made all the difference in how I feel. Still taking iron cuz I lost a lot of blood. But like I said I feel better everyday. And I've lost 29 lbs!!!

    is this head hunger?

If you have a Mcallister's their chicken tortilla soup is delish and a little spicy. Sooo good
  11. So I know sugar free is the ticket but are there any other southern boys and girls out there that would kill for a glass of sweet iced tea. Can I ever have this again if so when. I'm 16 days post op

    Sweet iced tea

Well I fixed some with supper tonight for my family and I did nave a glass. No taste change. I still love it but it's gonna have to be a rare treat

    Lemon juice allowed?

One word YUMMY. Didn't hurt my stomach at all and was deliciously refreshing. And I got a cup of my fluids in. Lol

    Lemon juice allowed?

I love it with a little salt and just eat with a spoon. I use one of those sno cone ice shavers from wal mart.
  17. lyndynojo

    Snow Cones!

I stopped yesterday and got a sugarfree margarita shaved ice. Oh my goodness was it good!!!
  18. lyndynojo

    Raw veggies?

My plan says from days 18-34 I can add salad

    How bad is this?

I'm new also just 2 weeks and I haven't gotten all my protein in even one day yet. Idk I'm just trying to stay hydrated and do what I can with the proteins
  20. I totally understand Tamz, I'm 2wks out tomorrow and my first week home my husband was working evenings so I was home alone watching Diners,Drive ins and Dives and literally crying because I knew I could never eat like that again. Not never taste that food but never eat a hugh cheeseburger and fries and coke and dessert. I'm from Louisiana and knowing I will forever be limited on the Delish foods was really like a mourning period. I knew it before surgery but it wasn't real to me like it was afterwards. Now though I have come to terms with my new life. Ive lost 23 lbs in 2 wks and those lbs will never be back on my body again so that is awesome.
  21. I was sleeved on June 24th and still can't take a shower without feeling exhausted much less walk a mile or two. Of course I did almost die from internal bleeding but still I am amazed at what some of you can do soon after surgery. I hope to start some soft foods after my dr visit thur and maybe that will give me the energy. I have yet to finish a shake, usually just 3 or 4 sips is all I can gag down so I know I'm not getting the protein but I am getting the fluids in. I'm proud of you girls and guys that have the energy to get on with living hopefully I will be there soon too.
  22. Thanks for the info guys. I haven't taken any pain meds at all since leaving the hospital cuz I havent really had any pain severe enough and I am feeling better every day. I am going to lookfor that jello. I did have a little pureed chicken for breakfast and again for lunch and I feel better. I'm so glad for all of the commiseration and advise on this site. You guys rock!!!
  23. Well I'm only 13 days out and have had complications, but I wonder everyday what possessed me to do this. I love to eat and cook and I wonder if I will ever enjoy food again. I'm 5'7" and was 239 lbs so I keep thinking I could have gotten under 200 easily if I had just tried. If I could have a do over right now I would not even contemplate this surgery. Not to mention the money, I was self pay so I spent 13,0000 dollars of my families money to be miserable. So far I have lost 25 lbs and maybe when I lose 50 more and can eat and enjoy meals I will feel differently who knows.
  24. That makes me feel better , I have been really worried about not getting much protein. The only thing I have actually enjoyed was a sugarfree fudgecicle. Lol. Not getting to walk as much as I need to now I've been worried about blood clots. Im not usually such a worry wart.
  25. Thank you all so much. Just knowing I'm not alone helps so much. Also hearing that it is normal to feel this way after all of the easy recoveries you hear about. I still can't believe I really did this. Lol
