    50 down!!!

Indymom, I don't really have a structured eating plan but here is what i had yesterday. breakfast- 1/2 of a fried egg, 1 piece of bacon. ( i couldn't eat the whole egg) snack- peanuts lunch- about 6 or 7 bites of spagetti meat sauce with very few noodles. ( again i was full on that) snack- 2 ritz crackers with a wedge of laughing cow cheese supper- i grilled ribeye steaks and baked potatoes for my family and my son gave me part of his, i ate about 6 or 7 bites of steak and 3-4 bites of potato. snack 1 oz of goldfish crackers. I know that some people are carb sensitive and it hinders their weight loss but I must not be, it has never bothered me. I use to eat a lot of sweets pre op and that is one thing i really don't eat now. I've had a bite or two and just have really lost the taste for them. I usually eat whatever my family is having only way less. I think my whole day of food is less than one meal was pre-op. LOL

    Would you sleeve again?

LOL. Yeah it's much better. And truthfully after my brain has had time to catch up with my tiny tummy I don't even miss it.

    Would you sleeve again?

I agree with Raine, any surgery has the risk of this particular complication. I'm 50 and never had a weight problem in my younger years, but over the last 20 years I have lost so many times only to regain. I too was a volume eater. I have a husband and 3 sons that I could match bite for bite. Lol. I wanted the restriction of the sleeve, something to tell me when to stop and believe me it does that. Just take your time making your decision and do what you feel is right for you. Good luck with your journey where ever it may lead you.

    Would you sleeve again?

I had no health problems prior to surgery just overweight. None at all. The dr said he thought a small blood vessel didn't cauterize completely and opened up. I had surgery on Friday, went home saturday about noon and about 2 hours later my legs couldn't support me so we went back to the ER where I was admitted and promptly passed out cuz my pressure dropped so low. He didn't want to go back to surgery unless he had to and fortunately my bp started coming up, hr coming down and bloodwork stabilized. So he knew rhe bleeding had stopped. I was really anemic and had to take iron for several weeks but now I feel great. Even with this problem I would still do it over in a heartbeat. Even if I didn't lose another lb it would be worth it knowing I will not regain what I've lost.

    Would you sleeve again?

I had a major complication of internal bleeding, bp dropped to 40/10 and I was in ICU for a couple of days. For probably the first 6 weeks I had serious buyers remorse and couldn't believe I had done this just to lose weight. But as I started to feel better and the weight started coming off I made peace with myself. Now 11 weeks later and 50 lbs. down I am soooooo glad I had the surgery. Getting back to work helped because I don't have all day to just think about myself and my surgery. Hang in there and give yourself some time. Things will get better.

    50 down!!!

MAKF, a whole lotta folks on here won't like me saying this, but I only count calories. I stay under about 800-900 a day. I do eat protein first, but find that no matter what I want I can only eat a tiny portion. I am starting to exercise this week, but until now I haven't done that just because I don't have time. I'm gonna start zumba classes on tues and thurs. I have tried the atkins type diets before surgery and they never worked for me, I have always lost better counting calories. That is just what works best for me. Thanks ya'll for the posts!
  8. highest weight was 245 day of surgery 239 11 weeks post op (today) 190
  9. I am 10 weeks and at my 8 week check up my dr. cleared me for everything. He said try it and see how it sits with you cause everyone is different. Steak has been one of the easiest things for me to eat, but I have eaten everything my family eats only much, much, much less. Some things sit on my stomach better, but nothing has bothered me yet. So I would say keep the reservation and enjoy.
  10. I am the same, I'm 9 weeks and can eat anything with no problems. My doctor is the same with foods too, he says under 1000 cal and balanced diet with protein first for the first few months. I've lost 45 lbs so far and have 45 to go. I also don't feel deprived when I can have anything. Some people on here seem almost militant about low carb but I think whatever your doctor tells you to do is what to do and if that doesn't work you can aways try something else. Good luck.

    Carb Intake after surgery

I can only speak for myself of course, but my sleeve is doing exactly what I wanted it to do. I eat what my family eats, protein first of course, but still get to have what they are having just lots, lots less. I am still losing about 1 lb every 2 days. I feel full and satisfied because I don't deprive myself. I do stay at about 800 calories a day. I'm 9 wks out and have lost 45 lbs so I love, love, love my sleeve. I don't count carbs but I really don't crave sweets and breads like I use to. I haven't even started exercising yet so I can't wait to see the results next week when I do. Good luck. The first month is the hardest.
  12. I just want to say that I don't count anything. I have a teeny, tiny tummy now. I eat protein first and then anything else I want. I can't eat much no matter what it is. I am 8 weeks out today and have lost 43 lbs. so far. I didn't have major surgery so I could be on a very strick diet for the rest of my life. There is no way I can eat even a fraction of what I could eat pre-op so what is the point of being a super freak about carbs or anything else. I feel great and the weight is coming off.

Did any of you ever wonder...

I did the exact same thing. I lost about 2 lbs a day for the first 3 wks. Then nothing!!! I'm 7 wks out now and this last week I've lost about a lb a day. So don't give up it will move again. Ive lost 40 lbs total in 7 wks!!! Another 50 to goal but I'm at 199 now and haven't been there in about 10 yrs!!

    Am I bad?

My dr starts soft/pureed foods on day 3. I'm now 6 wks out and can have anything.

    Eating solids

I am 6 weeks and at 4 weeks was allowed to try anything except fiberous raw veg. I have had all kinds of meats, veg and fruits. Salads at 4 wks and have had no problems. Somethings are heavier in my stomach than others but I started feeling better as soon as I got to eat solid foods.
  19. Came back to hospital after severe weakness and nausea, got up to go to the bathroom and passed out. Now I'm in icu with a possible inernal bleed. Please pray for me. Don't yet if he gonna take me back to the OR or not
  20. I totally agree with you all, what is the point of having surgery and being on a strict diet the rest of your life. I could have done that with my stomach intact. I am almost 4 wks post op and my philosophy is the same as Disney's. I have koolaid with sugar, one pack in a bottled water is 60 cal. I don't see that hindering my weight loss esp as I can only eat 4 or 5 bites every 2 or 3 hrs. I have lost 34 lbs since surgery and I know that will slow way down but I'm not in a race of any kind. I just want to live life and enjoy the few bites of food I can eat. I

    Potty Talk

Yep the protein drinks will definately do it. They gave me stomach troubles before the surgery and still do. I can't even drink a whole one yet. About 1/4 of the way through I'm headed for the potty.

    Going crazy

You are defininately NOT crazy! That is a lot to consider. I had the same thoughts and truthfully don't know if I could have done it if I were the only parent. I think you would not be normal if you didn't have these concerns. I will keep you in my prayers. You have to do what is right for you. No one else can tell you to have the surgery or not to, it has to feel right to you. Good luck.

    Uti

So I have a UTI and my surgeon prescribed cipro. This pill is hugh! I just took my second one but man is it big. Got it down ok but had to eat a couple of crackers cuz the first one made me nauseous. I'm just over 3 weeks out and can't believe I can take this big ole pill. Lol
