  1. I would check into the pain with your doctor first as I had my surgery on the 21st and am not in any pain. Have you been active since the surgery? I guess with 7 kids, I am probably more active than most after surgery but that helps a lot. This was a major surgery and you and your body needs to recoup. I am not much for pain meds but I made sure I took the good prescribed stuff a few times a day after surgery so that I could sleep really well. I think your body can heal well while you are sleeping but needs to be active also. Don't feel guilty- do what your body needs until it is healed.

  2. OK this may be a stupid question- I apoligize for it right away. I noticed during sex last night that my stomach is really tender where the port is. I checked and it is not where the incisions are healing but where the port is. I am a week and a half out and they are doing really good. I am now about 250 so I have a stomach on me that will eventually go away but I am wondering if my port will always be noticable during sex.

I know this procedure will work but I in the back of my mind I am afraid that the weight will come back just like all the other times that I have gone down in weight, It always finds me back again.

  3. I had hiccups some after surgery. They were painful. I found that if I took deep breaths it seemed to go away. My problem was that I wasn't using all of my lung capacity in the hospital and they said if I didn't, I could get Pneumonia. I couldn't tell I wasn't breathing deeply. I had to do deep breaths 10 times for 6 times a day and try to get my breaths bigger each time.

  4. Were all put on FLINTSTONE Vitamins WITH CHOLINE. I have had substitutes, that say their equal. But NO Way !

look up the choline, and see what your getting. Almost 5 yrs. on them, and be on them for ever.

Their in the orange box. Get a coupon from the Website and try them.

When I am Hungry, I take 4 of them out and chew them. It takes away the Hunger too.

I bought the flintstones with Iron. What is the difference or the benefits of the Choline?

  5. I am 7 days out now and had some Chobani Greek Yogurt for Breakfast. I can do the pineapple but not many other flavors yet as I am used to the super sweet regular yogurt. I have never liked the Carnation Instant breakfast but have been having 2 of them a day for a week with a scoop of Protein Powder. YUCK. The only way I can stomach it is to blend it with ice. I am going to start branching to Yogurt once a day. It has 13 grams of protein!!!! I am also going to start buying the milk with added Protein when I go shopping today.

  6. My heaviest was 268 before going into the doctor. Now I checked and I am down 11 pounds and 3 days post op. 5 pounds lost since surgery!!! (I didn't have a preop diet but tried to loose by excersize to make surgery go better) I hope it keeps up. YEAH 257. I will never see the 260's ever again!!!!!!!

  7. It is amazing that the people who complain are also the ones who are not taking the dieting part of this seriously or the excersizing part. It won't work without all in place and people complain that they eat too much popcorn or icecream. Of course if you are not regimented, you will not loose weight. It isn't magic, it is just a tool that will help you if you eat right and excersize a lot. My life is now going to be so different as soon as I am approved to excersize. Since I am only 3 days out, doing things around the house is my excersize and then sometimes my temp starts going up and I need a break. I figure if I don't try a food that isn't good for me, I will not know if it agrees with me and then I wont eat it. If I break down and try it, I might find out that Ice cream or Cookies don't make me sick and then I will be more likely to eat them. Ignorance is bliss in this case I think. Just read the positive posts or really look at the people who complain. Is it because they don't excersize? Don't eat right? Eat too little? Eat too much? snack all day?

  8. Congrats!!! I was done on Tuesday so I am 3 days out. Little less sore each day!!! Can't wait till the swelling goes down so I don't feel so pregnant.

I'm banded! It went to smoothly that I was discharged the same day!! This so so surreal and exciting!!! Looking forward to my new life. Would love to talk to any others who are newly banded or will be banded soon.

  10. Funny things is, I came onto this site tonight because I was dealing with the exact same problem! I was banded on May 18th - I did no diet prior to surgery and have lost a grand total of 41 lbs. However, every 10 lbs I keep stalling. I work out every night for at least an hour (and I really mean work out!) I had been losing quickly before and then once I started going to the gym, my weight loss decreased. It seems to take me forever to get to the next pound lost. I especially stalled at the 285 mark, now I'm finally at 275 but I keep going up and down....then again, I weigh myself every morning. I'm thinking about just having my roomies hide the scale so I don't do that anymore. All I can say is that the scale WILL go down. Believe it or not. I didn't think it would go down once I got to 285...but now I'm 10 lbs lighter. I know that this may not help, but I'm right there with you. It's frusterating...but we'll do this...together!!!!

Maybe you are just gaining muscle. Muscles weighs more than fat and in the long run it uses more calories( I have heard.) Are your clothes getting smaller even if the scale isn't?I was just banded on Tuesday and am not an expert at this at all.

  11. I just got home today and had surgery yesterday. I am a teacher and so I don't have the problem of anyone at work knowing about it. I go to teacher related things all the time so I told my immediate family that I had a conference to go to overnight. I just happened to come home with the flu. The only one that I told is my husband and one friend at work since I don't want anyone to find out. The Lapband is just a tool and I think this will take a lot of work. I don't want people talking behind my back or watching what I eat or thinking I took the easy road. My parents, kids and siblings have no idea. It is my little secret and I want to keep it that way. That is why this forum is so nice.
