Anyone in here from the UK ?

Hi! I am in the UK - Guernsey to be precise. I was sleeved 10 days ago in Southampton and had a great experience. These boards are definitely the place to be for advice and reassurance about anything at all. Apart from a few food/drink items not being available in the UK (how many times have I seen Gatorade mentioned? ) and names of medications varying, the advice crosses over just fine wherever in the world you are. Best of luck in your journey, and any questions please feel free to ask! xxx
  5. Thanks everyone for the messages of support. Today is the first day I have actually felt really very good. I went to the Doc and had my stitches out, have been cleared to have a bath (oh how I miss my long soaks!), and have been walking approx 40 mins every day around the local park and back. I no longer feel the need to sleep most of the day, and definitely feel more normal. food wise I am preparing two tablespoons of food per meal and sometimes finishing it, sometimes not, but never wanting more than that. I'm down 10lb since surgery, so approx 1lb a day. I'm very happy with that considering my relatively low BMI. Clothes are starting to feel loose and I've had to throw a couple of vest tops away already because the straps kept falling down! :biggrin2: I visited my Gran yesterday where a large number of my family gather for a cup of tea and a chat on a Sunday afternoon. They all said that they can see a huge difference in me already, especially in my face. And they are all very happy to see me looking so well. It's my birthday in a couple of weeks, and I can't wait to get dolled up and hit the town. Even if I am only going to have a bowl of Soup and one glass of wine! :wink1: You were all right, it does get better, and quite quickly. Thanks for giving me a push in the right direction everyone! xxxx

    Period question

Heya Glad to see that it's all normal. I went the opposite way and had a random second period two weeks through my cycle. But I had stopped taking my pill for a month as recommended by the anaesthetist because I knew that I couldn't take any mediction on op day and missing a day meant I'd be out of synch for a while. I guess it's going to be a little while til things settle down and get back to normal. Our bodies need time to adjust. Hormones everywhere etc. Hope it regulates itself for you soon :biggrin2: xx

Hey Staysea! Best of luck girlie! I hope it goes fantastically well. So many people I've gotten to know are up this week. You're all in my thoughts! xxxx

    8 hours from my sleeve!

Hey Ericka! Woohooooo, you're nearly there! Best of luck, I hope it all goes smoothly. I'll be thinking of you. Looking forward to hearing from you on the other side! xxxxx
  9. Hey honey :) Thanks for the message. Feeling pretty good thanks. Managed a 40 minute walk to and from the Dr just now to have my stitches out and noticed my jumper is getting loose! Yay! The indigestion seems to have calmed down a lot too.

How are you getting on? Lovely to hear from you :) x

  10. Hi Melissa, I am 5ft 3 and weighed 210lb when I started my pre-op and had my surgery 10 days ago. So far I am doing pretty good. I'm down to 198 already and my clothes are definitely looser. I did a lot of research before opting for this surgery and I believe that it is the most sucessful for patients of our BMI. I obviously can't give you any long term feedback yet, but I'll be posting regularly. All the best with it! xx
  11. Hey Pete, I'm not sure! I'm only 10 days out so can't laugh at all yet because it hurts! But I know that when Jared Leto gained 67 pounds to play Mark Chapman in Chapter 27, he said that it changed the way he laughed. So perhaps the same can happen as you lose weight? Edit: And look! You've lost 67lb! Haha what a coincidence! Must be something about that exact amount of weight gain/loss that makes you laugh different.
  12. That is awesome Chilo. You sound like you're in a really good place. I am so very happy for you.

    What did I do?????

Yeah, I think that as long as it is very soft it wouldn't be a problem. Don't worry! xxx

    Sweet taste in my mouth?

Hmm not a sweet taste, but acid in the back of my throat wakes me up at night. Maybe you have sweet acid?

    Nausea heighten by smells

Smells haven't made me nauseous as such, but I have found that my taste and smell senses are heightened. (Like something from True Blood!) Everything tastes different and I can smell things I'd never noticed before. Very strange. I hope you feel better soon! x

2 weeks out, what are you eating?

I've been whizzing up just about anything I think might be suitable. Not all have been successful mind! As long as there are no lumps and it is a yoghurty consistency it should be ok. So far I've done: Fish in white sauce with broccoli and mash potato - blended with a little extra stock to loosen Portion of bean and beef chilli - blended with some lite soft cheese so it wasn't too spicy Cottage pie and carrots - blended with gravy to loosen (it was what my Mum made for everyone else so I got to have some too) Yoghurt and banana - blended with a little apple juice to loosen Hope that gives you some ideas! xx

18 hours post op - photos

Ahh yeah I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the explanation! When I saw my GP yesterday she noted that my rib cage and sternum area is very tender to the touch. Although there is no bruising on the surface she thinks that some sort of chest injury is contributing to these chest pains I've been having. Who knows? They seem a little better today anyhow Walk round the park, here I come! xxx
  18. Hi All, I thought some people might appreciate seeing photos of how you are rigged up once back on the ward. I know that I wondered how many dressings and tubes I would have, so here you go. This is me feeling pretty darned good for the morning after. Pics are: Me and my morphine button! Drips in left arm Tummy dressings Sexy inflatable boots giving me a massage Amount of Water I'm allowed per hour Hope this helps someone! xxxx

    Am I eating enough???

Sounds to me like you're doing pretty well hun! My post-op diet sheet doesn't suggest a certain number of oz of protein but just says to have 6 portions of protein per day. I think that considering you are feeling no hunger at all, you're getting quite a lot in. I'd be proud! :001_wub: xxx

    Post-Op SEX

Implants may be something I'll consider in the future, along with a tummy tuck. But one step at a time. :thumbup1: I hope it goes well for you if you go ahead xx

    Post-Op SEX

Hey Tiffy, I'm kinda worried about this too. Even at my highest weight I am only a C cup, and I know from past weight loss that my boobs tend to vanish before anything else! I guess there isn't any point worrying, I should probably try and get my head around it now in anticipation of it happening. Ericka, my post-op info sheet simply says "sexual activity may be resumed as soon as you feel up to it" :thumbup1:
  24. Thanks S4M, MP8 and GG! Lovely to wake up to! xx
