Welcome Stephanie! Can't wait to get to know you! I hope you have an easy time making your decision on which surgery to have. I definitely am against the lap band. Not that it can't change peoples lives...I just think the sleeve or other procedures are much more realistic for the long run. Good luck to you and see you around! ROFL!!! Guido! ha ha ha! Hopefully it will just be Friday. I'm just hoping to still get July 22. I start Vet tech classes August 28th and I want to be completely healed before then. I want to be clear to do all I need to do by then. So, that is about 5 weeks from the 22. Ya'll keep your fingers crossed for me! Yeah, I thought it strange that no one else could schedule too! :/

I KNOW!!!!!! Doesn't she know how high maintenance pre ops are???????? She should!!!!! She's been doing this for a while!!! I'm frustrated, but I know this will all happen soon enough! Thanks for the encouragement! At what age do we get patience? Cuz I sure don't have it yet!

I start my pre op diet on Friday. I would love to have support. I am jealous that your friend and sister are going along for the ride! That is great though. My hubby offered to do it with me...but he is already a skinny guy. I didn't want to ask him to do that with me. I guess I'm still in denial a little bit...I can't believe I'll be starting my diet so soon. Also, my Birthday is July 16...and I have planned to go out with the girls on the 15th.....I can not NOT see myself cheating and having drinks. We shall see. I don't want to cheat and will do my best to be a "good" girl. I have a 2 week pre op diet...but it is not as strict as most. I still am supposed to have 2 meals a day in addition to the 2 shakes a day....just supposed to avoid carbs and not have fried foods. Good luck to you both!

I have depression...and I think mine is hereditary. Both mother and father had it and dad took his own life. So, I think in my case....I will be on depression meds the rest of my life. I may need a lower dose though since I will be healthier and happier with my self. One day at a time...there is nothing wrong with taking depression meds. Once you lose some weight nothing wrong with trying to go off them! BUT!!! don't live your life miserable because you want to be pill free for one reason or another. I'm the same weight as you and an inch or two shorter. I can relate to a bunch of the things on your list. I never let my weight stop me...because inside I feel much smaller than I actually am...and then all of a sudden I will see a picture of me and not recognize myself. I'm really tired of being the biggest of my friends etc. We can find our silver lining together! Good luck and can't wait to see all your updates!

I want to know about this Egg drop soup w/o eggs. Did you strain it and at what stage...is that liquid or mushy? I hope everyone's hungries go away!!!!! Good luck...go away hungries!!!!

So, I thought I would have to wait until next week sometime to find out, but had a letter in the mail today from UHC saying that I am covered. I'm very excited. I should still be able to schedule my July 22nd surgery and still keep everything on track now. Very very excited....so planning to start my pre-op diet on July 8th....with my diet consultation on the following Monday the 11th. So very happy! The only thing I am worried about is I also start a summer class and will have a Tuesday and Thursday Class after the surgery. :/ Worried about pushing it....and hoping I can be there mentally. Will have 4.5 days to heal before the Tuesday Class. So Excited though!!!!!!

Hi Janice, Welcome to the boards. I'm pretty new myself. I haven't had my surgery yet, but expecting to schedule it on July 22. I think you made a good decision. I originally was going to have the Lap Band done. I was a little weirded out by something being inside me and was put off by the idea of having a port and having to keep going in for fills etc. My best friend of 25 years had Lap Band about 9 months ago and she has had a lot of issues. She has lost quite a bit of weight, but she ended up in the hospital dehydrated and she is a PA (physicians assistant or Jr. Dr. as I like to say). She suggested I not do the Lap Band. I had already scheduled the surgery and everything and changed my mind and then she suggested I not to LB then I for sure knew I needed to change. I'm very excited about my decision and can't wait to start anew with my new stomach and take control of my life. I've been very successful in everything else in my life, but just cannot get a hold on my life. I can't wait to hear your story and hear when you surgery is scheduled! Good luck!

I think it is quite a while before you can lift or do weights. I think I've heard 6 weeks or when the doctor clears you! Walking I think you can start doing right away. Starting out slow of course. We will be sleeve buddies...but it looks like I get to go first unless something changes. Good luck my friend. When are you starting your pre-op diet? I will start mine next Friday, July 8. I'm nervous sometimes too, but I've had several surgeries in my life and they have all went well....so I focus on that and how good the pain pills will be.

So, I hope to hear soon. It has been about a week since I changed my mind from Lapband to Sleeve. I was previously approved for Lapband and already had my surgery date and kept reading about all the problems people had with Lapband and the having to have fills and unfills and hospital trips...etc.... So, I am so hoping that UHC will approve of Sleeve since it already approved my Lapband! AHHHHAHAHAH
