    Do you have drive?

Mine is just starting to get back.. 3 weeks- too long! I was as happy as a 15 year old boy... until surgery... they never warned me about THAT!...
  2. Hi- I'm back... it was a good trip to SF. I found out my stomach is swollen and not allowing food down, so as they let me advance to stage III it was getting pluged and it can only go two ways... the easiest is up and out.... the reason I get so dizzy- is not eating, basically mal-nourished. I am back on liquids and off work until july 28. I am to give my stomach a chance to rest and then a week before my return start up again and see. Dr. says- it could be longer....
  3. was getting a blood test, the vampire was a customer of mine back when I owned a pizza shop.. (5 years ago) she read my name- when I stood up- she called my name again... it took her a few glances and then was all: uh you look way different...

What does "full" feel like now?

I can eat all the pudding and not feel full but only 3-4 bites of mashed potato or tuna salad and it sits in my throat ready to come back up.... I made a high Protein lasagna, today ( no pasta- grilled veggies) and had maybe 1.5 oz. flavorful but didn;t make me happy... and I seem to burp and or hickup after eating real foods...
  5. s this surgery not for me? I'm HELLBENT on this surgery, but if I can't have a glass of wine or two once a week, it's a dealbreaker this was a concern for me- look at my blog... i am all about making wine- 22/7... IMO- sleeve is the better of the two for wanting a drink... The phycologist and my surgeon both agreed, it would not interfere, however, the amounts would change- and to be very careful of crossover addiction. I slowed down quite a bit pre-op, and yes- on the fourth did have several Jello shots... one didn't hurt, so I had a few more through out the day while swimming... wasn't wine... I'm not gonna tempt my stomach at this time... I want it healed... I do have plans on doing a red wine jello shot... so what you got to decide is it right for you... after surgery, who knows until you try it... I am having trouble with a lot of foods, however ice cream and Cookies are no problem... yes- I had a skinny cow, and it was good! and I had 1 PB cookie, and it went down easily... I try mashed potato, quesadilla , and it is wanting to come back up instantly...
  6. Dargar- needs alot more mozz. between layers... to hold it together... I skimped... was more like a meat veggie pie.. Sing and dance- I'm tall and have very short hair... slightly sunburned from my lazing in the pool this week... please say hi...
  7. No regrets- I just can't wait for the dizziness and fainting to leave, and to be able to eat again... so far all meals today and two yesterday have come up... I am drinking real gatorade now... for the carbs and sodium as prescribed by nutritionist... I am so going back to soft foods!
  8. sorry WCG- I am not so much for guests today- my wife heard me fall and found me on floor... I have e-mailed drs. awaiting replies gonna go visit SSF tomorrow morn...
  9. Laz is done... gonna go swimmin' then bake it... (reserves spot for pix)
  10. there will be plenty... my Breakfast, didn't stay down... thinking of super soft foods rest of day... year..... life....

Labor Day - WHAT WILL YOU WEIGH???

Hi- I do not know how to make a real guess to my weight in 60 days... I lost 29 pounds the three weeks after surgery and 30 pounds the 13 weeks prior... after surgery I had great weight loss daily and then after 20 pounds my body stalled for 5 days.. now it is 2# every three days, though one day I see nothing and the next nothing then bamm! down again... SN..............Starting Wt........Current.......Goal.......Lbs to Goal chef neil ........320..................261..........200..........61
  12. Dargar- tuna was good- 3 crackers and 2 oz. 1 can = 3 meals Lee- my tests came back normal... besides drinking all day long... I am going to make effort in eating the Protein today, shake has 54g and lunch will be tuna... Dinner- I am making a lasagna today... going to grill veggies (red peppers, onions and zucchini) then cook ground turkey, add seasonings and chopped spinach. when cool add ricotta and parma cheese. then layer the grilled veggies where Pasta should be, ricotta meat mixture, sauce and mozz. cheese. 3 layers with sliced fresh tomatoes on top bake it up...
  13. Lee, Dargar, I am suppose to transition to things like eggs, tuna, cooked chicken (can) deli meats, cheeses as well as stage II foods. so far the lil rascal likes chili, egg salad, scrambled egg, cheese, tuna... and yesterday 3 bites of a dressed turkey burger... I shared with my wife, and gave the rest to my doggie... deli meats and mashed potatoes not so much. went in for a CBC. don;t know where the surgeon is going... also told me to stop Bp meds- I haven't taken any in 2 years...
  14. 1) How long have you been sleeved? 3 weeks 2) Who was your surgeon? Dr. Alami- SSF Kaiser 3) What were your experiences with your surgeon? great bedside manor, thorough, and great follow up with questions-via e-mail. 4) Would you recommend your surgeon? YES! 5) How much weight have you lost since your sleeve date? 29# 6) What type of sleeve do you have? Good question... 7) Would you recommend the type of sleeve you have? I recommend Bariatric surgery, everyone is different... 8) Do you find you still have the necessary level of energy to sustain a good workout? YES. 9) Do you find it difficult to keep the weight off once you have lost it? not yet- currently loosing 1-2#/day 10) Do you have trouble eating, such as getting stuck? yes- soft foods, like deli meats, don;t agree with me.. ok any food at this point other than cottage cheese/yogurt makes me sick. 11) What is the one things about getting the surgery that you regret? no regrets... just wish I was in the 5% that could do it without surgery... and keep it off! 12) Would you do this surgery again, or would you have made another choice? it's been a long hard struggle, yet, I have come a long ways... I'm half way to my goal in just over 17 weeks.

    Starting at the Very Beginning

Hi- Do not be afraid of the Roux N Y, although I am a n00b sleever, My wife which was your weight back in DEC. has now lost 125 pounds and has less trouble with foods than I have... please be open as you explore, each person is different. Losing the weight prior to surgery is easy... you don't have to think... stick to the program... now that I am sleeved- always thinking about food, and Water... what can I have, and will it stay down... Drink- Drink- Drink... although I am very happy after, I was on the fence through out my 14 week classes. The pre-op program foods took off the needed weight, and occasionally I slipped and drank some wine- that's what I do.. even yesterday- I can't resist some home made Cabernet. though it was only a smidgen of a glass... still came in with -2# for the day and 4# for the weekend. and I was traveling. Good luck and read everything you can!
  16. Hi- I too am exhausted after my morning shower.. today was much better, still fighting dizziness, Surgeon had me do a blood test. and then I heaved my lunch... at least my Breakfast shake stayed down...
  17. Hi- I have e-mails into my PCF, dietician and surgeon... I suspect they all were out late last night at fireworks... I am not on Bp meds- been off about 2 years. I am more worried about my blood sugars. reading on the net- and prior surgeon consult said liquids- I am working on making it over 80 oz. today. the dizziness started yesterday right before lunch and lasted about two hours.... my suspicion is I may not be eating enough. the transition to stage III has been hard.
  18. Hi- today was the first day- 3 meals- all went good, although between breakfast and lunch I had several fainting spells.

    Catheter question for men

Isn't that the worst? I could barely stand up with out fainting... then to drink... YUK! so glad that table fell backwards- or I woulda had two nurses scraping me up off the floor in that designer gown. oh and the removal- OUCH!...
  20. Hi- I also had a plateau - I was loosing 3#/day then it dropped to 2# and after 24# it stopped... 5 days... then it started dropping again... 1/2# then 1#/day... what LMD said... stay on program- It works... I know a sleever that stalled 5 months... now that I would worry about... most likely didn't follow program... My main worry is not weight loss but drinking and eating... staying hydrated and moving on to stage III - yesterdays lunch set me back... I am embracing the goodness of yogurt and cottage cheese! I really want to eat some scrambled eggs with salsa..
  21. I'm starting my 14 week class at Kaiser Santa Rosa tonight, anyone else going to be there? No sorry- they won't let me back have fun! say Hi to Tim, for me, if he is your facilitator. I'm going to water aerobics...
  22. YIKES! I tried to eat leftover last nights dinner- 3 bites and I was ready to burst then spent next hour with dry heaves... finally it came up... i'm stepping back down to the softs... 1 cup of apple sauce I'm good to go... why bother...

Not in the mood -warning TMI

we's been getting really short tempered with the kids too and i know he's having a rough go with things in general. now.....how do i broach THAT subject?????? Hi- not knowing the full situation... I talked to my Dr. not about sex- I was as eager as a 14 year old boy... until surgery... anywayz- between her and a counselor they thought a low dose of anti depressents would help. Remarkable how it did- when I saw the Psyc. for his opinion on WLS, he side stepped that and helped me with my stresses, which also was part of my weight issues. kinda amazed about how that all worked, and one pill daily makes me feel normal... now to wait and see if my labido comes back, down 54 pounds- hello- did they remove my MOJO too???

what med did they give you post op?

Hi- I had a pushbutton drip every 6 minutes- dilaludin? Morphine makes me crazy (ER) I stopped the drip on day 2 and went to tylonol/codein by mouth every 4 hours, then had same at home- only used it to put me to sleep- i didn;t sleep much in hospital- the machines would beep- my heart rate dropped to 46 - and would wake me... I tried the cpap but it didn't help. I have a low resting heart rate...even though I am fat. Morbidly obese everyone is different- after day one- the pain you feel is Gas... nothing takes it away... however walking and some downward dog stretches at home seemed to help get it passed. surgery site for me was secondary and hardly anything... when I got home my puppy jumped on my stomach... many times... gotta love them small cute dogs... my cat also slept right on top all night.. . My wife cringed, she was not able to sleep lying down for a week... please don't be scared, the things I had issues with going in were my least of my worries, drinking and eating and standing up, and then urinating after they took the catheter out... i could walk- it was just the getting up, maintaing through the dizziness... then I was a track star... nurses let me wander... and drinking... I had four little thimble of a glass and was supposed to drink 1 every 15 minutes... I got one an hour down... My wife would remind me, to drink... (though it sounded like she was yelling and the food trays... Oh boy... 1 spoon of apple sauce... enuf! however - each day gets better... knowing that one or two weeks you will be less than normal,
