After having different emotions, it finally hit me when I put the gown on and slippers. Surgery was at 7:30 finished by 8:45. I had an hernia repair. Didn't get in the room until 12:00. Slept with constant meds to make sure I wouldn't hurt so bad. Didn't suffer with gas just soreness when getting out the bed. First day nothing but ice chips. Next day I was given 2 ekg's at different times because of heart rate being high. I was feeling like this surgery wasn't bad at all, just the getting up was hell. Then the nurse informs me she is calling a cardiologists, now I said WTH, now fear creeped in. I said I made it through then surgery, now I have to worry about my heart. They wouldn't give me a satisfied answer except it happens sometimes. Your body has taken on stress and trying to balance itself out. Then you tell me I'm calling your doctor and taking blood samples. Don't worry it happens, but my concern was the fact I take a heart pill for angina(mild case). They sent 1 lead doctor in training and 2 students less knowledge then himself. He tells me the same thing. I go to sleep and wake up I'm hit with " I call another cardiologists because your heart rate dropped to 40. Now you got me scared as hell, but not because of the lapband directly. I know I have a minor heart problem, now my mind was playing images of (what if) over and over again. I go take the barium swallow which was just a few swallows everything was fine. Still wondering if I'm going home, my first walk was only down the hall the first day. It felt like I wanted to thrown up, that was the first ill feeling I had. It was due to my nurse giving me pepcid in my iv to fast, so my nurse order something for nausea started with the letter F, fen something. I didnt take it until the next day and my body was comotose. I was high as a kite. I was already taking Delotic(mispelled). This nausea medicine was 10 times stronger than my pain meds .I couldn't move my body was just like in a coma. Finally my nurse got me up to walk and that was the first gas I experienced when I got back, so walking does help. Any way I saw a few more Doctors and the bottom line was for me to follow up in 2 weeks with my cardiologists. Oh I had a little beef broth and later some vanilla supplement and I took my happy behind home. * I would do it again if needed, the surgery itself wasn't bad at all, I worried at times for nothing.

I know this is the 2nd best life changing decision I have ever made, next to being saved and having a personal relationship with God. Yet my stomach is turning trying to form into a knot. Putting pressure on my nerves in my stomach. As far as my head goes, I'm rejecting fast darts of fear coming at me strong, by dodging the thoughts and getting out of the way. Because if I start thinking negative I will then allow fear to creep in and take over the mass majority of my day. And damn if I've come this far with all the hurdles I had to go through to get to this point. So by me just writing this has snapped me back into digging down deep and giving me strength to overcome this threatening fear. God be with everyone having surgery this week and beyond. @Jannaboo we both can do this tomorrow @MandaElaine I'm a "punk" like you said about yourself too, when it comes to things like this. I can talk the talk now I have to walk the walk But I know if you can do it, I can too. So I will update Friday Thank you all for preparing me for what's ahead

Withdrawal= the act or process of giving up something / the act of withdrawing,etc. Just sitting having images of things I truly enjoy that I have to give up .Either for good or for a short period of time because of surgery. For me it will be liquor, especially mixed drinks. Sandwiches, Pop, and my Chicago Hot Dogs from "Sonic" my Nathan hot Dogs . Potatoe chips. I guess you could say all the things that got me in the condition I am today. Most of all I'll miss "Fishing" for a couple of months, because after surgery I can't take a chance and throw out my reel and bust my stitches. So my summer hobby I can forget this year. Sorry my food demon is messing with my mind a few days before my surgery but I guess that was to be expected. I'm about to Pray this off of me then I would be alright. Anybody else have something they have/had to give up for a while, or for good?

@Shoshanna "Get a boat and drown bait" I like that @Donna12 You are so right about normal activities, and yes it is scary about sleep apnea. But once you sleep with the cpap machine,, you will notice that you sleep much better without tossing and turning. You won't feel as tire the next day. I like your statement "Relay for life". You made me think of when I first started seriously going to church, and I would tell people I"m running for my life. Thanks for the flashback, that hit the spot. @Sojourner Very nicely said, that is so thought provoking. Your words of wisdom and encouragment surely penetrated my mind. Hi and welcome, I'm not a smoker so I can't imagine the withdrawal ordeal you have to go through. I can only assume everybody on this site has to endure some withdrawal to overcome. (especially food) So get in line with a lot of people that is scared of something relating to this life change. I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I'm just trying to say that you are not alone. It's ok to have those feelings until you are comfortable with the decision in your spirit. Once you know and believe this is the best route to take, in order to further your life span being healthier, then you will be on your way. Just know that everyone here will reach out to you and help guide you through. So don't be scared to the point that you take a "U" turn from the purpose you went to that meeting and felt good about it. Good luck

The Best spiritual presence I can think to take with you is GOD. He/She is all the "special" you need. (But I do know what you are talking about, like material things) but I just had to add that. My Prayers are going forth for you, keep us updated

Can someone tell me if swallowing pills was a problem after surgery? I brought a Pill Crusher to use, but I can only imagine the taste being terrible. I realize you can swallow a tiny pill the size of a Vitamin D pill. But I have meds that are round, the size of a dime, and some long. The pill that was described for me while taking 4 Meal Replacements shakes aday while on my pre-op diet are like horse pills. Well not a pill but a capsule.(to prevent gallstones) The Pharmacist told me if I open them they are very bitter. So I was just wondering what size pill could our band take without being stuck. My surgery isn't until next week, so I'm asking now.

@Sojourner Thank you for your infomation, and please thank your son. Because I was going to open a capsule. That made so much sense about the time release of a pill and its effect.
