Am I Different
Everyone here seems to be able to eat healthy and able to stick with the program. Why aren't I? How do you avoid your favorites/sliders like ice cream, etc.? I know some people will say it is ok once in a while is ok, etc. But if I could do that, I wouldn't have gotten fat. Yes, the lap band helps considerably with how much I can eat, but how have you learned to control what you eat? I have wanted to eat healthy in the past and was only able to do that for a while, just like dieting - only for a while. Yes, I have an eating disorder. There is no bariatric counselor in this area. Counseling wasn't in my program. How do you all do this? How have you made the mental changes? Terry

2 Months Banded And No Weight Loss
Have your dr. check to make sure you don't have a leak. I had something similar to that and when it was fixed, I noticed a huge difference. Let us know.

Starting Cooking For My Dad
I think it is a shame too. That would give him some interaction with some other people too. He needs that!

Starting Cooking For My Dad
jeani - thanks and I know you are right. I have been thru counseling a few times and it did help. Maddysgram - Meals on Wheels won't work. I tried to have him get that, but he said he can't stand long enough to microwave the food. Thanks for the pep talk!

Starting Cooking For My Dad
My father is 90 and his caretaker moved away so now I have to prepare his meals. This is the one thing I didn't want to do. My sister comes out every 6 weeks and freezes dinners for him. I go every am, noon, and dinner to get his meals for him. This is sooooo hard on me. My hubby does all the shopping for us because it is too hard for me to be around food. Now I have to do the shopping for my dad. Naturally the foods my sister has frozen are all wonderful and are the same foods from when we were growing up. They are so tempting! And he wants brownies, cakes, snicker bars, etc., etc., etc. This is almost too much for me to bear. I have gained about 2 pounds and I know it is because I am stressed at having the responsibility of taking care of him on my shoulders, plus being around all that food. I'm not worried, I will lose the couple of pounds. What I am wondering is - has anyone else been in a similar situation? How do you deal with it? Thanks for any help. Terry

Only Feel Restriction For 2-3Weeks After Fill
I agree with Jean. I had to be rebanded and it was because my band buckle was undone. Definetly worth checking out why this is happening.

Risks. How Did You Decide They Were Worth It?
I am on non obesity related meds and my Dr. felt that with the bypass it would be too hard to get my current meds at the right level because of malabsorption issues. That was why I chose the lap band.

I'm In Mourning...wanna Join Me?
I'm in mourning big time too. I can't eat any bread products so no BLT's, grilled cheese, sub sandwiches. Nothing like that. Or cake, brownies, Cookies, donuts. No pizza or burgers or burritos. Can eat candy and ice cream though. I think it must be a good thing for me that I can't eat those things. But I sure miss them, sometimes a whole lot!

Complete Failure
Same here. My band was unbuckled so it was like I didn't have a band. Please have your dr. do an upper GI to check. I had my band replaced and wow, what a difference. Also, it is hard to change a lifetime of thoughts and practices. I have trouble eating correctly too. I know I need therapy to help with my issues but cannot afford it. Don't beat yourself up or let others put you down. I have been there and it hurts like hell. Get it checked out! {{{{HUGS}}}}

Post Surgery: Why Am I Seeing More And More Surgeons Put Saline In The Band At The Time Of Surgery?
I had a barium swallow post op. I thought it was because my first band was defective and they were just checking to make sure things were ok.

Post Surgery: Why Am I Seeing More And More Surgeons Put Saline In The Band At The Time Of Surgery?
My Dr. put saline in my band during surgery. Don't know how much. Didn't have bandster hell. In fact, when I went to my Dr. just to meet him they filled me, but had to take it all out. I'm doing good!

It could also be the grease. I thought since I can't eat the crust, I would just eat the toppings, but that made me sick too!
