Finally getting help from my band

Tuesday had another fill. So far I feel like I need less food at a meal. I also get hungry between meals. I was hungry all the time before this so I didn't know when it was really time to eat. I hope this holds. I think I will start losing if it does. I lost 1 pound in the previous three weeks and I wasn't cheating. I was able to eat 1 to 1 1/2 cups of food and I was eating three to four times a day. Now I eat 1/2 cup at a meal and ususally only three times a day.
  2. Today I have been reading and watching youtube videos in order to get my mind around exercise and fitness. I hear people talk about liking and being addicted to fitness and exercise. It is like they are talking a foreign language to me. I have never enjoyed exercising for the sake of exercising. I used to love to walk to a destination and there were no limits on distance. But, to walk for the sake of fitness? Never! That might be my ADD, but it has never worked for me. As far as athletic exercise, I am the most uncoordinated person that ever existed. I was the last one chosen for the team and then I was only chosen if the teacher or coach forced them to choose me. So, needless to say I'm not the best example of fitness and exercise. The few times that I have tried to embark on a fitness exercise endeavor I have ended up overdoing and getting hurt or sick. So, this is something I have to do and I will figure it out. Last week I went to the gym and rode the stationary bike for 16 minutes. Believe it or not, that was too much. I was mostly in bed or resting for two or three days. I haven't been back. You might think that 16 minutes isn't much and so did I, but it was. I remember getting really tired around 10 minutes but I thought I could finish the trail I was on (the video) and I was enjoying it. But now, I know I should have done a quick cool down at that point and stopped. Things will be different this time. I know that my cut off point is 10 minutes so I will go back tomorrow and go for the 10 minutes. I found a video on youtube today that told me I should do my limit and keep at that for one week. I will not increase until I have done that for 1 week and then I increase that by 10% for the next week. I can do this. I will do this. This time I will not overdo and quit because I can't gauge my energy and abilities. 10 minutes and then 11 minutes six or seven times a week is better than 16 minutes and then a week off. I can do this. For future reference, the video link is http://www.youtube.c...t=FLFNut9fnDIMQ

    So proud of me :)

You should be proud. When you work in a store with groceries it there is always temptation waiting to jump off the shelves at you. Keep up the good work!
  4. Glad to hear that you have a perfect fill. I am getting close, but I always wondered how we would know when there was enough. I am finally getting full from a small amount of food. Had band installed on May 25th. How long have you had yours?
  5. Thanks for the part about the mind. I have not been able to figure out why I'm depressed lately. I never get depressed, but it it full blown now. I have only lost one pound in three weeks and that upsets me, but everything does. Been trying to figure out what to do about myself. Thanks for the help. And congratulations on the one year plus wonderful weight loss.
  6. Lost 1 pound in three weeks. Had a fill of .6cc bringing to 5.6cc. 1 pound lost is better than one gained.

  7. 79 days since surgery. I'm really getting tired of losing less than a pound a week.

    Learning to be banded.

So I finally feel like I have a band when I eat beef or bread. When I eat these I have to eat slowly and chew more. Surgery was May 25th but I have really never had any feeling that I was different. I still can eat too much of some things and I get hungry in two to four hours after most meals. But I am on my way. Stuck at the same weight for two weeks, but maybe the next fill and learning to live and eat right will break this plateau.
  9. Finally below 160 pounds and into the 150's. The last fill seems to have made the difference also. I have 5cc's in my 10cc band.

  10. I have six, including the one in the navel. Surgery was May 25, 2011 and the navel incision is now hard to see.
  11. Hi, I am looking for other Texas and particularly Dallas area Bandsters. Look forward to meeting you all.
  12. Congratulations Denise, Did you go all the way home or back to the hotel? Glad to hear you are feeling well except for soreness.
  13. Had a fill yesterday and I'm on liquids today. Also I finally lost another pound. I'm 1/3 of the way to goal. YEA!

  14. Good luck on your surgery. Missed you at the support group.

    Approval

Congratulations! I have UHC also and they have been wonderull. I also had a hernia repaired with the surgery which needed to be done for a long time so I feel like I got the band for free. It's good that you have a doctor you are satisfied with.

  18. The needle on the scale finally moved a little. My next goal is to get into the overweight range instead of obese.

  19. Went to Hula Hoop class Wednesday. Trying to do a little everyday. Also got my Cyberbike for the Wii. I am a cartoon person riding on a cartoon trail. It is fun.

    Over 60 bandsters?

I am 61 and was banded May 25th 2011. I also had many comorbidities. I don't ususally think of myself as old. Maybe I'm not realistic. The first time I thought about my age was when I was in recovery longer than usual because of my blood pressure not going down. They told my friend who was waiting I was doing well "considering my age". LOL. Seriously, I am glad that I had it done. I am down from four blood pressure pills to two. My blood sugar is more stable and I am getting more exercise. I have taken up Hula Hooping and got a Cyberbike for my Wii. I try to get in about thirty minutes of exercise a day. I say "DO IT!" We're not old, just need a little TLC.
  21. Can Hula Hoop for 100 rotations. Getting better.

  22. I do understand the fear of what the new body will look like, but for different reasons than some of you. I am three weeks from being 62 years old. My face doesn't look that old because my fat fills in the wrinkles around my eyes and on my neck. I have warned my husband that I will look older than I do now and maybe even look older than my real age due to the loose skin that might happen. That is scarry, but my choice was to stay fat (and younger looking) until I died of complications of extended and uncontrolled high blood pressure and diabetes, or to look older and get to really live to be as old as I will look. Sometimes the vanity still kicks in and I fear the wrinkles but I have to choose life.

    kinda sad/kinda happy

Sorry to hear that you are not going to be able to use the band, but thankful that the pain will be gone. Please come back and let us know how you are doing. Looking forward to hearing that the pain is less and then gone.
  24. I didn't have a slippage. I am doing well and uneventful so far. Getting hungry again, but trying to keep my eating down.

    Hi!

I know this is an exciting time for you. I have been doing well since surgery. I am a slow healer and ususally have complications to everything. This is one where I have not had any complications. I am healing well. Most people do well and I am thankful to be in that group. Let us know when you get a date.
