  1. I discovered a coffee protein drink. It is called CLICK. They carry it on amazon and at The Vitamin Shoppe. I went to one in town and got it. I love it. It only has 15 grams of protein and 120 calories, but it is something I can drink when I get up in the morning. It is good hot or cold, but I prefer cold. It mixes well in a shaker and comes out thick like a frappucino for SB.

    Numerology anyone?!

Happy Birthday! Sorry I was late. I don't know about numerology, but I would say that losing 30 pounds shows the significance of your commitment to being better each year. Can't wait to see what you do next year.
  3. Made a hula hoop last night. Is it the magic bullet? I don't think so. Now I have to learn to keep it up and going. :-)

    Hi!

Welcome, Skinny Girl. Your name says it all. Have you already been banded or are you in the process? I am fairly new here also (5 weeks post op). The people on here are full of information and so willing to help. Have a great day!
  5. I just discovered this and researched a lot on the internet. I made one today and am trying to learn. It didn't hurt me, I'm just not very coordinated.

    Mini Horror Story

That sounds like a very stressful event. Feel better soon.
  7. Denise, everyone feels different after surgery so we can't know how you will feel. But, that being said I would definitely spend the night to see how you are feeling. When you get ready to travel back home be sure to plan ahead. You will need plenty of Water and some Protein drinks and maybe a couple of little Jello cups. Then, when you get ready to drive home be sure to allow time in the drive to stop and walk every hour. I live 45 minutes from the clinic and we had to stop for me to walk due to horrible gas pains. Also, be sure to stay ahead of the pain by taking the pain medicines before you are in bad pain on the trip.

    Self Pay Jitters

Congratulations on finding peace with your decision. Welcome to pre-bandland!
  9. Yes, I have United Health Care Choice Plus. I had a BMI of a little over 36 with two morbidities, but my policy only required one. I kept in touch with them as it went through the system. My policy had 15 calendar days to make a decision, but it took them a couple of days to put it into the system. They did tell me that the doctor listing a potential surgery date helped because they try to finish it before the surgery date. I was approved in about 10 days. Good luck!
  10. I have always had a problem with overdoing when I exercise. I try to start small and work up gradually but I end up getting worn out and can't do anything for a week or more. This lady tells you how to build up after WLS. She said to increase the time by 10% per week. I hope this works for me. This is an excellent lecture for those new to the band or exercise. It is called "Lecture on Importance of Exercise Immediately After Weight Loss Surgery Weight Loss Surgery http://www.dynamic-progress.com/exercise-video-lecture/ http://www.youtube.c...t=FLFNut9fnDIMQ
  11. I would research the track record of your insurance. Do they usually pay on one co morbidity or do they put people through a lot of hoops and denials? Also, are you fairly sure you will have the same policy in one year? Is your company due to renegotiate their policies soon? If so, they might change their coverage. Here in Texas teacher insurance, they re stated the policy waiting period in April and it anyone who didn't start the process by then would fall under the new policy in August, which requires more money up front and the teachers might as well go self pay. Just saying, research it all then make the decision. We're here for whatever your decision is.
  12. Worked out with Kettle Bell for 18 minutes. It wasn't bad considering my history of hating exercise.

    Getter Closer

Congratulations on the weight loss, but even more on the physical fitness that lets you run so much. I know that at this point I could never do that. Seeing those of you who do it is motivational to me.

Surgery in 7 hours, can't sleep

    HAVE A GREAT DAY!
  15. What does it feel like? And if you feel it after a fill but it goes away, how long does it last before it it goes away? I had a fill Wednesday of this last week. I didn't feel much different until yesterday (Saturday). Now I feel full when I eat about three ounces of food. I don't feel hungry for many hours. Is this what I am looking for? And if so, does it ususally last? This was my first fill and I have 3cc's in a 10cc band. Thank you for all this help you all give us newbies on here.
  16. Tammy Dawn, Welcome. I love coffee also. I have used SB via coffee mix in my protein drinks. I also use almond milk in place of milk. It only has 35 calories and makes me feel like I have the milk.
  17. Sorry that they denied you. Glad that you are able to convert to self pay.

    need some positive encouragement..:-(

Fifty pounds since January sounds really good to me. Since you are having problems with food in the morning, I think you don't need a fill. I did read someplace that one mistake banders make is to wait for the "full" feeling to stop eating. They said to stop when you know you have had the right amount. If it wasn't enough you willl get truly hungry in a couple of hours. That is what I am doing now. I know that's what I did and now I've had to put myself back on mushies.
  19. My doctor said one to two weeks. The workaholic in me wanted to go back in one, so that's what I said. My paperwork wasn't done in time to get me on the schedule then. I am finally on the scedule for next week (4 weeks). I am glad that I had the time. I would not have been good at all at one week. I am over 60 and have firbromyalgia, elevated BP, and diabetic. I have recently been a slow healer in other areas. All that said to say, look at you rhealing history, age, medical conditions. Then, make a careful decision. Can you ask for two weeks or more and then go back early if you are feeling well and bored? If I could, that is what I would do.
  20. Glad you didn't have to have it removed. Good ending to a bad story :-)

So happy for you! The time will fly by.

    1st fill ??

Had my first fill Tuesday.Maybe the restricition set in last night, nearly two days later. Wednesday I didn't feel any differences. Thursday I thought I was hungry all day. I never ate a lot, but small bite sized snacks all day. Then last night I really was hungry (or so I thought). I ate two protein donuts from the eggface recipes. No problem for about three minutes then I felt a little chest pain and small bits of flavor in my mouth. The discomfort lasted for a while. When I ate breakfast this morning. I had three turkey links and one egg. I thought I chewed the sausages well. Maybe not, I have a feeling of fullness in my chest and a tiny bit of pain. I have heard that full feels different. I might be overeating because I don't acknowledge that chest and throat feeling as full. Learning, but hope I don't have to have PB before I learn.

    Anyone try HCG?

I did the HCG injections before the band. I gained it all back when I went off of it. I am sorry that you are stalled. Maybe you can talk with your doctor/aftercare team about this. They might suggest tweaking your fill or adding some exercise or intensity to the exercise. You wll get beyone this and when you follow the lap band rules the weight will stay off.

    chest pain.

It sounds like it could be gas. Gas pains sometimes come and go quickly and sometimes they last for a while. I found that the best way for me to move the gas out was to walk...walk....walk. It is good to see that you are doing well. Welcome to the boards.
