  1. Ok first off let me say I was sleeved on Monday the 13th. Everything went fine, they did do a hernia repair in the process which I feel has caused a bit more pain than just the sleeve would have and a few extra staples, yes I said staples....I thought I was only going to have steri-stips but in order for them to get to the hernia and repair it correctly I now have 14 staples sitting neatly in my belly. I'm ok with that, I already had scars from my gallbladder removal two years ago. I'm extremely fair skinned and do scar easily.

Anyway, on to the reason for this post! I've had MAJOR gas! I think without the gas I wouldn't have had to have hardly any pain meds. But this gas is killing me! Its so much better today but funny thing is, now I can feel it rumbling around in my whole abdomen but I can't get any out! It just rumbles rumbles rumbles.

I have been taking lots of walks, gas-x and deep breathing. I've done everything they have told me to do but I just can't pass any of it. Any advice???

  2. I am 3 days post-op and experiencing all that you are with the exception of the gas. I think if I could release some gas my world would be a lot better. I can feel it rumbling around in there but I just can't get it out. As for pain when you swallow, I have this somewhat. Its a kind of a delayed reaction and not immediate. It basically feels like I'm having a muscle cramp then goes away. I had to have a hernia repair at the same time so I thought maybe this might be some of the cause of the extra pain. Good luck, I think we are going to make it! lol

  3. Congratulations on your decision. I haven't been sleeved yet but from EVERYTHING I have read (and its been a TON...lol) you will never regret it! I can't wait for my own surgery next month. I'm like you, I researched for 4 years after my best friend has the gastric bypass. She has done wonderful but I was a little hesitant to go that drastic with my body. So, I decided lapband was for me! Well then I heard about the sleeve and I haven't turned back since. I'm scared to death of not being able to eat and throwing up everything like some people with lapband do. I know some people in my family have said it was just as drastic as bypass I know in my heart its what is right for me. I'm not rearranging my insides just losing a little that I don't need. I'm thinking of it like I did my gallbladder removal last year. If I don't NEED it, I won't MISS it! lol

I'm looking forward to following your journey. I haven't been on this website long (as a member, I lurked for a few weeks...lol) but there is LOADS AND LOADS of information on here from REAL people.

    Good luck and blessings!!! :)

  4. I am scheduled for surgery on June 15th so I am trying to get everything lined out and ready before I let that date sneak up on me! I've been wondering and would probably find the answer if I searched more (lol) but what works best for you guys liquid or pills when it comes to Vitamins? It seems like the liquid would go down much easier but might cause some nausea, but on the other hand it seems like a pill or chewable would be harder on my new tummy. Anyway, I went ahead and bought the liquid but I haven't tried it yet, so I'm hoping I made the right decision! Thanks!

  5. Hello and welcome!

I am having my surgery on 7/12. I am very comfortable with the idea of having the sleeve. Although the other procedure was an option, I don't want the procedure to be reversible! I want a lifelong tool. I think if I knew it could be reversed, it would not be as effective for me mentally.

    Blessings,

    Leslie

    That's my birthday! lol

Only GREAT things happen on that day! Blessings and good luck! :D

  6. Congratulations on getting your date!! My surgery is scheduled for June 15th. I agree that it does all happen pretty fast. You spend all of this time researching and reading then BOOM its here!

As for pre-op testing all I had to have done was a stress test. I don't have any history of stomach ulcers, hernias, excess reflux, etc. so I didn't have to have the upper GI thingy. Thankfully! Other than that just blood work for me. Good luck I look forward to following your progress! :)
