Where the heck do I get one of these No No lists? My doc didn't give me anything and I'd really like to aviod having any problems.

Right there with earthchick... I finally got one... I love it. It will liquify anything. And will help you stay on a healthy track after surgery. Definatly worth it.
-
Congratulations!
i'm a monday ahead of you..
i feel pretty good most of the time. Most liquids are sitting well most days. Biggest problem is what I think is an internal stich that is pullling. I basicly only have that one spot that causes pain. Feeling human again is great... Pretty soon you'll feel perfectly normal.

Makes me sick to think of all the money we have wasted in all of our pursuits. But happy about all the money we save on food now! I for one am tired of the fat race and ready to live life on my terms. Congrats to everyone on your lifestyle change and getting away from the fat race diet trap.

I had mine aug 15 First 2 days were horrid mostly because of nausea and no one told me how often I could press the button. I was pretty out of it anyway so I got told to stop pressing the button so I could stay concious. My first walk took me by suprise. I thought I would handle the pain so much better than I did. Things were much improved by day 3. I sat in the chair most of the day except for my once an hour walks. Day 4 went well too. Had pain in my left shoulder until they took the drain out. I took pain meds til day 5. I do still have some incision pain but it is totally bearable. I am getting in my liquids just fine, don't feel hungry at all, and my energy level is pretty average for me.

This is day 8 for me and it took the first week just to lose the IV liquid weight. But happily I am down 5 #s since my origional surgery day weight. Definatly take measurements too.

I had surgery 8/15 It was my first surgery ever and I'm 39. The first 2 days were very difficult because of pain and nausea. After that I did have main incision pain when walking. Only other pain was gas in my left shoulder which didn't subside until they took out the drain (which did not hurt) on day 4. Haven't taken pain meds at all since day 5. I still have some aching around the incisions ;more if I over-do it and rolling over in bed. As far as a pre-op diet I was required to do Clear Liquids and a bowel prep the day b4 surgery.

Definatly don't trust farts! Don't do it unless u r on the toilet. or sit on a towel. I couldn't fart without the extra til day 5. Didn't take anything for it, just let it run it's course.

I was sleeved 8/15. The first 2 days were horrid. Day 3 was a lot better but I had some nausea. Day 4 was pretty good but still had pain @ the big incision site mostly when walking. I had a drain until I left the hospital day 4. It didn't hurt but it was annoying (of course it was in the area of a hernia repair also). I spent day 5 @ my parents house and was sooooo tired. Felt pretty fatigued the past 2 days but the pain is soo much better today. I haven't had pain meds in 3 days. As for Vitamins. my docs instructions were 2 childrens vits a day. 2 pepcid 10 mg 4 gas x one Protein Drink the first week 2 the second. That's the main stuff. Oh and of course at least 6 cups of liquid a day. It has been managable but takes forever!
-
Mine feels the most like that when I walk. Which sucks cause I may not be walking as much as I need to. I'm trying not to take pain meds. I have a huge dent under that incision and a numb space from there to my navel... It's just weird.

My surgery is tomorrow... all that is required is that today i only drink Clear Liquids and drink a bottle and a half of magnesium citrate at 10am and again at 2pm (currently trying to choke that down). And then nothing after midnight. So I wouldn't worry about complications if you clean out your system the day b4

I just found out my surgeon is ok with it... during the full liquids portion of the diet... I was very suprised..Though the NUT said it may not make you feel very well.
-
Lilmissdiva- How far out were you... how long did it take before you could run. I think I would like it but can't do it now...too much pain in my joints. How did you work up to running?

Strange how things are different. I had a respitory (breathing) test... they sent home a practice contraption that I have to bring surgery day, blood work, an EKG, met with the doc and a class with the RN and Nut. Took most of the day.
-
Has anyone else gotten this response on thier EKG? I just looked up what it is and am now really freaked out. The printout said "can't rule out anterior infarct age undetermined" I have to go for some tests tomorrow but damn google search!
-
I hope my date doesn't change.. Had my pre-op testing yesterday and the EKG was abnormal so instead of going on vacation today, I spent several hours waiting to see the cardiologist for clearance... and I still have to go back tomorrow for testing! Now I'm worried I won't get to go on vacation or get my surgery. Fingers crossed tomorrow's test is all I have to do and everything will be back on track.
-
I'm august 15th too!
-
Surgery scheduled for August 15th... had pre-op testing and classes today... I now have to go to a cardiologist to get clearance cause something came up on the EKG... Ugh.. and Tomorrow was supposed to start my vacation. So in the middle of packing, I will be taking a time out to see the doc. Will get to my vacation spot eventually. Wish me luck... would hate to lose my date.
-
Good luck! I'm sure it will go great! See you on the other side!

monkey butt powder is cool... is started as a product for like construction workers... I first found it at a hardware store. They now have a female version. It is a very fine and silky powder. I think they sell it at Rite Aid

Same deal here...Have lost 39#s so far and still wearing the same cloths.. some are a little looser and some don't really seem to be...and though others are making "observations" about my loss... I don't see it and am just not gonna be happy until I wear a smaller size.

Well after you lose weight during your approval process... you will hear a lot of "since you are doing so well... maybe you don't need the surgery" I got that at least 3 times today at a grad party. I just tell them no.. and I've lost (and regained) this same 30 #s like 10 times and I need a long term solution.
Try not to let it get to you. You know what is the right decision for you and those who love you will come around and accept it.
I need an excuse but not a lie

I'd think that saying your stomach is aching or feeling sick wouldn't be a lie. Don't know where u live but maybe you can throw in jet lag
