  1. I'm was pretty stuck on the scales for the entire month of March. I think I'm only going to end up losing right at 5 lbs - which all came off pretty much this week (I was hoping to be closer to 8 lbs down this month). It is what it is, right? Move forward!

I started exercising a bit more and incorporate yoga as well as cycling and I love doing both. So I guess those would be my NSV's. Oh, I also started my own YT channel (cjmurphy901) - subscribed to me and watch my journey :)

Still no fill yet for me...ugh!!!! I had my surgery on 1/24 and I have had 2 visits with him and still no fill!!!

Hope everyone had a successful month!

  2. I had the band+plication done on 1/24/12. I did not experience any nausea but I was in a lot of pain for several days. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and did not return to work until the following Monday. It took me about 3 weeks before I could start exercising again. You will be so glad that you opted for the plication!!!! Best decsion I ever made...I almost opted not to but changed my mind at the last minute. It has been 9 weeks and I have not had a fill yet. 25 lbs lost without a fill and not really even hungry.

    Hang in there...good luck!!

  3. Yes, I had it done on 1/24. I'm so happy that I did it. I haven't experienced the bandster hell that a lot of folks talk about on here and I think it is because I had the ilap. I have also not had a fill yet because of it. My surgeon said that he has seen a reduced number of fills in patients that opted to have the ilap vs. just getting the band. Others may have had a different experience but I think it was the right choice for me. Good luck!

  4. Just to prove everyone is different...no bandster hell for me!! I'm never hungry and I have never had a fill. I agree with Carolyn, I wish I would have known how much pain I would be in. Everyone I talked to never mentioned how painful it would be after the surgery. It took DAYS for me to fully recover and about 5 weeks before I could start working out again. Hopefully, that will not be the case for you. However, it is better to be prepared than not. My incisions are not bad at all but I do have good skin (thanks to my grandma Helen!). This has been one of the best decisions I have made but I was mentally prepared to do the hard work that comes along with the band. You just need to make sure that your mind is right for this. The best of luck to you!!

  5. Becky, I'm sorry you are having such difficulty with the ticker!

Cindysmom, go to "My Profile" and click on the "Edit Profile" button on the top right. Then click on the "Patient Data" tab in the blue section. Then click on the "Photos" tab on the left. Whew, lots of steps! Good luck!

  6. I travel frequently with my job too! I am a bit spoiled b/c my company has a private plane and I get to avoid airport food (huge blessing!) but it is hard having to live out of hotels. Chikfila has become my bff while traveling. The chargrilled chicken salad with honey mustard dressing is around 250 calories and it is very filling. Oftentimes I can eat on this for 2 meals.

Happy and safe travels! I love STL!!

  7. Hi Becky Noe, regarding the ticker - go into "My Settings" and click on the "Signature" tab on the right. Copy and paste the code there. When you click save then you should see it. If not, you copied the wrong one. Find the correct one and then it should appear. Good luck!

  8. Stress can cause your body to do lots of things. I got stuck for about 2 weeks at the same number 228.4 (I was going nuts seeing that damn number over and over every day!). I committed to not weighing daily and now I just weigh on Tuesday. I also lowered my calorie intake to 1000 (not 1 calorie more!). I exercise 3-4 days a week for 30 minutes on the elliptical trainer. The first week after doing this I weighed in at 226.6 - OH JOY!!! Also, you didn't state what type of exercise you are doing. Weight training tends to stall folks for just a bit. It sounds like you are doing all the right things though. Stay strong, be positive and keep pushing...you will move that scale soon!!! Good luck :)

  10. I will be 5 weeks post op tomorrow with my follow up appointment scheduled for March 8th. My band is empty and I don't think the plan is for me to have a fill on that appointment in March. I hear that my surgeon likes to wait until the following appointment before he gives a fill. Has anyone else experienced waiting that long before their first fill?

  11. I found out that I had a rather large gallstone (size of a ping pong) a couple of years ago. I brought it up to my surgeon prior to surgery and he was okay with me keeping my gallbladder since this is not a stone that should cause issues in the future. I have heard of people having gallstones all their life with no complications. Good luck with your decision and on your journey!

  12. Your weight loss so far is great! I was two weeks post op this past Tuesday (I also had the plication!) and I have only lost 16 lbs post op. I did not loose a single pound this past week at all. Your body is still healing so it may take some time to start seeing the numbers drop. It will happen...in time! I think the plication is a great benefit. I have not had any hunger pains at all since the surgery, whereas I see others start experiencing this and feel like they can eat as much as they did before surgery. Good luck!
