  1. You have to set the levels based on the band. Somewhere on this thread I posted a link that shows amounts. On low carb days, I try to stay under 30g per day.

Btw, just fyi, you don't have to be in ketosis to lose weight. I've lost over 200 pounds without being in ketosis and eating lots of healthy carbs.

I will look for that link, if you are eating 30 grams you would be in ketosis, or are you talking about another time?

  2. I have tried several kinds and I just don't know why this stuff makes me feel sick about a hr or so after consuming it.. I tried stuff with no lactose just to see if I was intolerant, still same sick effects... I started to wonder if it could be all the Vitamins in it? I just really want to find something that I can use as a back up to get Protein in when I can't do it the normal way... Anyone else have this issue and have come up with a solution? Thanks

  3. I looked up about this, and I don't see how this would be effective for me... On low carb days it tells me to eat 117.6 to me that is very high... there is no way that my body would go in any type of ketosis with this level. When I stay under 60 carbs a day I will go into ketosis which then uses fat to fuel the body. And what they are telling me to eat in Protein is crazy 235.2? I struggle getting in the 60 a day the dr want's me to get in.. lol... And 98 grams of fat...???? this is what I am suppose to consume on low carb days...

  4. Melissa - you look Amazing!! Really, sometimes you can't see that in the mirror?? That is quite the transformation. And congrats on keeping the weight off! When you are ready to give it an extra push, those last pounds will come off. But I have to tell you......if you stay right where you are, you are FINE!

I still need to lose for a healthy bmi, I am still about 200 pounds!!! lol

  5. Well I got a lovely message that today I have been signed up here for 2 years. yayyyy. Well I did go ahead with my surgery on June 6th 2011. I am doing well, Am struggling with getting the last 40 pounds off that I would like to lose, but I can not complain losing over 100 pounds and keeping it off. Right now I am working on some Vitamin deficiency's nothing to do with the band, vit B12 shots and mega doses of D. And hope once I get feeling better I will be able to lose the rest. I am very proud of myself, and very happy I decided to go ahead with the surgery. I went from a size 24 in jeans to a 10-12. Sometimes I still can't notice in the mirror the changes, pictures work wonders for me to see my progress. I no longer have to use a cpap machine, my blood pressure is great, and no longer at risk for type 2 diabetes. I have not had to have a fill in over a year. Holding very well. Anyways, I wanted to let you all know how my journey has turned out, and share some photo's :)255064_10151120862871277_135323603_n.jpgpost-208839-13813135014588_thumb.jpg

  6. Got my first fill today! Gosh I am happy! This process can take a long time eh? I am starting to think that the reason the weight loss is slower with band patients than other weight loss surgeries is because of this filling stuff and getting to the right restriction. I am an impatient kind of girl to be honest... But I sure am one happy one finally getting A fill... lol

  7. yes very true. I have been known not to have much patience.. lol I feel like since I waited so long, been through so many struggles to get the surgery, I just want a break! lol... But I have made it thus far and will continue to do what I am suppose to and what I chose to do so I can be healthy.

And I agree If I or my dr thought any of the other surgeries were right for me, I would of had the other. I'm only 10 days out and I should be resting still. This to shall pass :) Thanks for the wise words..

  8. oh joy. lol sometimes wish I would of went ahead and got one of the other surgeries. I was to chicken I guess. But this is like having a tool that don't work for months after u get it... kind of discouraging. But well I guess that what I chose. Just wish I was better informed about exactly what would happen to me, how long the process took etc. My fault for not researching it deep enough... But. I know I have a tool that will assist me one day :) Thankful for that.

  9. I notice many people can have puddings, cottage cheeses and mashed potatoes at this point. Well my diet just included the same thing as the clear liquid just adding v8 and fudgecials and strained Soup. Well I decided to put all the Soups in the blender and make them liquid, veggies, meat and all. And it seems to be fine with me. Also I add a few teaspoons of mashed potatoes to it to give it a little texture, but still runny. I am much happier as a person since I did it. Does anyone see anything wrong with this? I was starving and this has helped so much. and it is still really liquid..... Idk but I am loving broccoli and cheese with a little skim milk and a few teaspoons of instant mashed potatoes. OMG yummmmmmmm.

  10. Omg. the last 2 days have been complete hell. I quit smoking 28 days ago. And thought the worst was over. Until I hit about a day before my one week POST OP apt. Being on liquids for another Week! I don't know what is going on, if I am mourning the loss of the eating food part or what, but I want to smoke worse than I did when I was going through the withdraws from it the first few days I quit. I don't know what to do! I worked so hard to quit and I am going insane..... Any other ex smoker go through this? What to do?????

  11. I had surgery on Monday Lap band with hiatal hernia repair that was large in size for my age the dr said. I am not feeling very good. pressure in the spot where they put the incision to lift the liver. Don't know if it is from the hernia or the liver is sore or what. Basically my entire left side still hurts. The worst is when I try to get out of bed, or have been sitting a while and get up to walk. My legs feel like Jello or like they have weights attached to them. I am not happy with my recovery so far. I don't know if it is normal to feel this way or not. I feel like I have gut rot or something all day. I am regretting having this done. I keep having horrible nightmares that the drs were stealing my organs. It's what it feels like at least.

  12. I never heard of that test actually. I did have just a normal hemoglobin test done at my pre op with my primary doctor. My results were normal. I did do some reading saying that smokers usually have higher hemoglobin readings also.... I was 2 weeks nicotine free at the time of my pre op... I didn't realize they could tell just by your hemoglobin.. good thing I had quit smoking 2 weeks before my pre op then..

  13. yeah It's crazy if you ask me, I mean I think as long as I quit he shouldn't care how long it has been... That in itself was a big step... But some peoples children I tell ya... I have had enough surgery's while smoking and did fine.. But... I really want to live a healthy lifestyle now.. So I did it.... But I hope they don't cancel me. I will be upset...
