    Ok This Sucks!!

I had surgery on Monday Lap band with hiatal hernia repair that was large in size for my age the dr said. I am not feeling very good. pressure in the spot where they put the incision to lift the liver. Don't know if it is from the hernia or the liver is sore or what. Basically my entire left side still hurts. The worst is when I try to get out of bed, or have been sitting a while and get up to walk. My legs feel like jello or like they have weights attached to them. I am not happy with my recovery so far. I don't know if it is normal to feel this way or not. I feel like I have gut rot or something all day. I am regretting having this done. I keep having horrible nightmares that the drs were stealing my organs. It's what it feels like at least.
  2. It is about 10 days post op and I am now not feeling any restriction again after the swelling in my tummy has went down. I am able to guzzle water like there is no tomorrow. Will it continue to be this way until I get a fill?
  3. is there a risk of slippage? or have you had a point where you may have stretched your pouch?
  4. yes very true. I have been known not to have much patience.. lol I feel like since I waited so long, been through so many struggles to get the surgery, I just want a break! lol... But I have made it thus far and will continue to do what I am suppose to and what I chose to do so I can be healthy. And I agree If I or my dr thought any of the other surgeries were right for me, I would of had the other. I'm only 10 days out and I should be resting still. This to shall pass Thanks for the wise words..
  5. thanks for that outlook, I just didn't know if drinking had restriction after fills like it did right after surgery. I couldn't drink much at all. And actually did have a problem getting in my required intake for the day. Really glad that is gone.. And I am happy to hear that it is possible to drink without having to much of an issue...
  6. oh joy. lol sometimes wish I would of went ahead and got one of the other surgeries. I was to chicken I guess. But this is like having a tool that don't work for months after u get it... kind of discouraging. But well I guess that what I chose. Just wish I was better informed about exactly what would happen to me, how long the process took etc. My fault for not researching it deep enough... But. I know I have a tool that will assist me one day Thankful for that.
  7. I notice many people can have puddings, cottage cheeses and mashed potatoes at this point. Well my diet just included the same thing as the clear liquid just adding v8 and fudgecials and strained soup. Well I decided to put all the soups in the blender and make them liquid, veggies, meat and all. And it seems to be fine with me. Also I add a few teaspoons of mashed potatoes to it to give it a little texture, but still runny. I am much happier as a person since I did it. Does anyone see anything wrong with this? I was starving and this has helped so much. and it is still really liquid..... Idk but I am loving broccoli and cheese with a little skim milk and a few teaspoons of instant mashed potatoes. OMG yummmmmmmm.
  8. Omg. the last 2 days have been complete hell. I quit smoking 28 days ago. And thought the worst was over. Until I hit about a day before my one week POST OP apt. Being on liquids for another Week! I don't know what is going on, if I am mourning the loss of the eating food part or what, but I want to smoke worse than I did when I was going through the withdraws from it the first few days I quit. I don't know what to do! I worked so hard to quit and I am going insane..... Any other ex smoker go through this? What to do?????
  9. I also caved today. I am so disappointed with myself. I am going to do my best to keep it under 5 cigarettes a day until I can eat mushies and then quit again when I can also walk as much as I used to. I can't sit here in my house and go crazy anymore with nothing to keep busy. Because I feel I am handicapped. 28 days I made it. Next time I hope it will be for good!

    Ok This Sucks!!

how long did it take you to feel human again? Also how do we get calories in? I don't get more than 200 a day right now and the dr said not to take my chewable vitamins yet. I feel weak and stuff. And the protein powder is making me sick when I even think about drinking any more of it.
  12. I still am in a lot of discomfort. Up on top where the incision is for when they lift the liver and also the port incision feels like it is burning. How long does this last? Also got a weird rash all over my belly I just noticed. Looks like little red pin pricks all over.
  13. I never heard of that test actually. I did have just a normal hemoglobin test done at my pre op with my primary doctor. My results were normal. I did do some reading saying that smokers usually have higher hemoglobin readings also.... I was 2 weeks nicotine free at the time of my pre op... I didn't realize they could tell just by your hemoglobin.. good thing I had quit smoking 2 weeks before my pre op then..
  14. yeah It's crazy if you ask me, I mean I think as long as I quit he shouldn't care how long it has been... That in itself was a big step... But some peoples children I tell ya... I have had enough surgery's while smoking and did fine.. But... I really want to live a healthy lifestyle now.. So I did it.... But I hope they don't cancel me. I will be upset...
  15. They are all tools... If one failed for you it wasn't because it wasn't the right surgery for you... It was because you were not ready to make the lifestyle changes you needed to in order for the tool to do it's job. No matter what surgery we have, we all have rules to live by. Don't follow the rules.. Don't get results... They are all tools that will work! If you do your part. If your stuffing cake, soda, chips down your throat being lazy not working out, whatever. It isn't going to work!!!! You are better off asking for a feeding tube than to keep having these revisions thinking that there going to do anything different than the last surgery did... It's what you put into it.. Yes I can go get bypass and definitely lose the weight. But It will alllllll come back if I don't follow the rules. There is no easy way out for us! We have to come to terms and make a life long commitment to change everything about our lifestyle and eating habits. I support every one of the surgery's there are out there... They all will help you... Pick the one you are comfortable with doing... Don't think one is better than the other or one you don't have to work as hard at.. blah blah.. Sure if you have a sweet tooth... I might consider the ones that cause dumping.. But I should know enough by now, to realize I can't eat that crap anymore if I want to be healthy! In moderation.. ha... I wish it were that easy... I sure as heck wouldn't be where I am today If I had the ability to have that kind of stuff in moderation... That's like telling a ex smoker, just one cigarette every now in then is okay... Yeah maybe for a few times, then it's back to the full blown addiction eventually... Food is like drugs... We are addicts.. Oh gosh... I can go on and on.. But.. I just felt like venting a little.. LOL
  16. I have no idea what is going on... I seemed to stop losing weight despite eating the same amount of calories and still exercising EVERYDAY!! I mean I am up to 3 miles a day at least on structured walks. I can not figure out how I am not losing ANYTHING now. I was doing great and I lost 30 pounds in less than 2 months and now... Well NOTHING... I bought two 2 1/2 pound ankle weights and started walking with them yesterday hoping that maybe I just need to do something extra, maybe my body is just used to it now??? I don't know... I am having surgery on the 6th of June, I weight in for the last time on surgery on Friday, and I feel so disappointed in myself that this will be the first time I have not lost Anything since my 30 pound weight loss. Is there something I am doing wrong? Do I need less calories now? I almost feel like I want to do liquids till I see the Dr on Friday to get weighed in so I don't feel like a total failure... So frustrated!

  21. Hello I am Melissa, I have been in the program at the hospital since 2009 and finally after fighting my insurance company for over a year I was approved for the lap band. I will be banded on June 6th and I am very excited. I have lost 32 pounds pre op weight loss and feel great about what is ahead of me... I am here to meet others who also have been banded and for support.
