  1. So far for me...I was able to get rid of one of my BP medications. I'm still on some others, but I am hoping with more weight loss that I'll be able to get rid of those as well.
  2. Yikes! I think you are making a wise choice to search for a new MD.

    My First Bandiversary!

Congrats on making a wonderful decision and for all the hard work you have done! Thanks for sharing your success!
  4. I had the same issues about 3 weeks after surgery. I was eating about 800 calories a day. I ended up increasing my calories to 1000 and started losing weight again. Now I eat 1000-1200 a day and lose consistently.

    HIT MY GOAL!!

Wow! All your hard work has paid off. It's wonderful to see that people can achieve their goals! Thank you for sharing your success!
  6. Today was the first day since starting this journey that someone who didn't know I had surgery and was losing weight asked me if I had lost weight. When I went to get my car from the valet (I have to valet park my car because the parking structure at work is so crowded that they have to constantly move cars around) the valet asked me if I had lost weight. I said "yes" and he said "I can tell". He asked me how much and I told him. He was like "wow". I was thrilled! It made me feel so good and that my hard work is paying off and that other people can see it.

    I'm so excited!

Thank you ladies for being part of the registry. I worked in pediatric bone marrow transplant for 3 years and now my research focuses mainly on finding new drugs for childhood leukemia and lymphoma patients. We do have a transplant protocol and I recently had a leukemia patient who had a donor who backed out at the last minute. It was devastating for the family and the little boy. Thank you for being willing to share a part of yourselves with a stranger.

    SEPTEMBER 13th!!

I have not had a fill so I'd dont have any advice there. But with regard to the pre-op diet...make sure you find Protein shakes/drinks that you like because you'll also be on them after surgery. I didnt find this site until too late or else I would have tried all different kinds of shakes to see what I liked best. Instead I was stuck with ones I hated and they started making me gag after surgery. If you look in the "Pre-surgery" section, there are lots of thread about Protein Shakes and recommendations. Congrats on being scheduled! Good Luck!
  13. Congratulations! You've lost 41 pounds in 3 months! That is great progress. Remember, everyone's journey is unique. You cannot compare yourself to others, it will just drive you crazy. I know for me, I didnt lose for a couple of weeks. Come to find out, I wasn't eating enough. I was only eating about 800 calories a day. Once I increased to 1000-1200 I started losing again and have been losing consistently. Good Luck with your second fill. I am sure the scale will start to move again.
  14. Hang in there I know it is tough. I had a very hard time after surgery since I was only allowed broth, Jello and Protein shakes. I had to start the diet 2 weeks before the surgery so 4 weeks total. I wont lie, toward the end of my liquid phase I started having a little bit of fat free cottage cheese and I ended up having some fat free, smooth blended pea Soup. The shakes started making me sick to my stomach so I had to do something to get protein in. I dont suggest you go against your doctor orders, just sharing my experience. You are doing great!

  17. Your surgery will be great! It's ok to be nervous and have some doubts, but you have made the right decision. You should never feel guilty for doing something to improve your health. I'm sure you constantly put other people first...this time is for you. Good Luck! Let us know how things go.
  18. Wow, I got tears in my eyes reading this post. This is so amazing! Bless you and your little one!

    Post-op Challenges

You Rock!!! What wonderful willpower! Italian is my favorite and I dont know if I could have been as strong as you. You commitment and dedication are paying off! Way to go!
  20. Congrats on your surgery! Get a small pillow to hold against your stomach when getting up or moving around. It helps to hold things in and not move around as much. I know how you feel about the pain meds. Vicodin has no effect on me either. Luckily I wasn't in too much pain after surgery. Get plenty of rest and keep drinking. You'll start to feel better with each passing day. I wish you a smooth and speedy recovery!

I have not had a fill yet, but my doctor does 4 cc during the first fill and then 1-3 depending on the person and size of the band. Good Luck with your healing and I hope you get back to your green zone as soon as possible.

started mushies and had a lesson.

Congrats on having surgery!! Those are some pretty hard core mushies for only being one week out. My mushies were yogurt, cottage cheese, Soup, soft cheeses, purees, refried Beans, tuna and some lunch meat and I had to wait 2.5 weeks after surgery. We were not allowed to have carbs until 2.5 months after surgery. My guess is that you may have eaten a bit too fast. Dont worry about how much or how little you might eat. Take everything really slowly especially at first. What an exciting adventure. It looks like we both started with having to lose about the same amount of weight. If you want a weight loss buddy, just let me know! I wish you much success!
