1. Don't worry, I'm an RN and we've seen a little of everything! It didn't bother your nurse at all, believe me. It's truly not a big deal!

Laying on stomach

I'm 3 weeks out and I have no problem sleeping on my stomach. I did have to sleep on my side for the first week but it gradually got better.
3. Benefiber works wonders. 2 tsp daily in a glass of juice (i used diet cranberry) stir and drink. It dissolves and you don't even know it's there. Better than having to take a laxative!

Tingling Problem

How much water are you drinking? You may be dehydrated? Also turning on the sink faucet while attempting to go often helps with the sound of running water. If the problem continues don't hesitate to call your Doc. Again, drink, drink, drink!

2 Weeks Banded No Losing

My starting BMI is similar to yours. I was banded 3 weeks ago. I didn't have a pre-op plan. When I went in for my first post-op visit I had only lost 4 lbs. My Doc said that was normal and 4lbs. for me was like 20lbs. for someone who had a lot of weight to lose. My Doc set a goal for me of 5lbs. a month. Of course I would like to lose more and have set my personal goal at 8lbs a month. I now have lost a total 9lbs. I upped my exercise but always get a minimum of 1000 calories and 60 grams of protein. My Doc said, Protein, protein, and few carbs. Good luck.

Anyone never had a fill?

My Doc put a small amount of saline in at the time of banding. I am 3 weeks out and am not hungry. I had a visit this week and he said I may never need more but if I get hungry not to hesitate and come in for a fill immediately. Everyone is different. I am very short and used to be petite. I hope to be petite in the future!

Not eating much

Most important thing is to remain hydrated. If you can't sip water frequently try ice chips. If your fridge dispenses crushed ice, that is great. Otherwise have you husband crush some ice in the blender. Take a few chips every 15 minutes or so until you can drink water. Good luck.

Good luck! You will go great! url=http://www.myfitnesspal.com/weight-loss-ticker] Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Nutrition Facts For Foods
9. My doc said no bread of any type forever! I'm 3 weeks post op and am now on regular food. I've had a couple episodes of "stuck". Talk about pain. It happened when I ate too fast and didn't chew enough. Needless to say I am now very careful! (FYI) My nurse said to drink pineapple juice if something is stuck, I carry a small can (single serving) in my purse for emergencies. url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/w8iUqAS/]

4 Week Post Op Liquid Diet.....

Every doctor's after surgery protocol is different. My surgery was 6/9 and I'm on regular food already. If you are really struggling I would call my doctor and tell them you can't stay on liquids any longer. That you need to eat something and see what they say. That said, there may be a very specific reason he has you on liquids. Have you tried Protein drinks? I drink the Premier brand from costco. It has 30 grams of protein per serving and holds me for several hours. Also, I don't think soft scrambled eggs will hurt your band. I don't know about the grits. But like I said, there may be a specific reason he has you on all liquids. Never hesitate to call your doc and let them know what's going on. url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/w8iUqAS/]

5DAYS!!!!

I had both the lapband and hernia repair 3 weeks ago. It wasn't a big deal for me. I had one incision near my belly button and one little puncture higher up. I know some doctors make as many as 5 incisions but my doctor only does one. My doc took pictures of the hernia repair and placed a small clamp to repair the hernia that will remain in place forever. Again you might be different depending on your hernia and your doc. Remember no lifting after surgery is very important especially with the hernia repair. That is the frustrating part for me as I live on a ranch and have horses and other critters to take care of. Asking for help is not my style but I am determined to make this work and not have complications. Good luck and keep us posted. I am very glad I had this done, no regrets!!!

Feelin blah :0(

Be gentle on yourself. You're not perfect and this journey won't be perfect either. 2 lbs is not the end of the world and you will have up and downs. Some people recommend only weighing once a week. 1/2 of an ice cream cone is not that big of deal. Just get back on the "bandwagon". On your exercise, just say I'm going to walk 10 minutes. I bet if you get started you will feel like doing more. A little exercise will help with the doldrums too. Remember this is a marathon not a sprint. And you aren't just dieting you are changing the way you eat forever. We all need a little reward once in awhile. I think a little ice cream is the perfect reward for all your hard work!
13. Don't hesitate to call your doctor for ANY reason. That's why they're there. Most doctors want to know if you're having problems. Most active bleeding is bright red not black, have you taken any Iron? That can make your stools look black. But call your doctor, no question is too "dumb". The feeling in your throat is probably from the breathing tube put in during surgery for anesthesia. Warm liquids such as tea will help. But let your doctor know about that too. I'm 3 weeks post op, it does get better!!! Keep us posted on how you're doing.

When are you full?

I have been banded since June 9th. I am very lucky and have not been hungry at all. I work hard to get in all my Protein requirements every day. My question is: "How do tell when you are full?" I usually stop eating after I've eaten 1/2 cup or so. Sometimes I feel pain in my left shoulder and I always stop eating when I feel the pain. I say my surgeon yesterday and he said I may never need a fill since I have no hunger. Anyone never needing a fill.

pain relief

Some drainage at your port site is normal. Bright red blood probably isn't normal. I had drainage for several days. FYI all pain meds slow the gut down so may actually contribute to the gas pain rather than help. It just takes time to get the gas out, walking helps.

How are the June post-op folks doing!?

I was banded June 9th. I was uncomfortable for a couple of days but now I'm doing great! I can eat most things If I chew, chew, chew! I've had on episode of STUCKness! Talk about pain. It was a good lesson. I don't have as much weight to lose as some people because I got on the bandwagon (LOL) early. I knew where I was headed as I was out of control! I am now walking an hour each day and feeling great. **** luck.

1 Week Out...

I believe you will have to eat more to continue your weight loss. Try eating more frequently even if it's just a few bites. One meal a day is not good. I'm 3 weeks out and I saw my surgeon yesterday. He emphasized that it is VERY important to get in Protein. He recommended at least 2 Protein drinks a day. He wasn't as concerned about calories, just protein. I drink the Premier Protein drinks from costco. They have 30 grams of protein per single serving box. 2 drinks and I have my minimum protein for the day. It's 160 calories with 5 grams of carbs. If you can't eat at least drink a Protein Drink. I'm not hungry either but force myself to eat several times a day.

Stuck!

Last night I had my first episode of getting something stuck. I ate a small piece of chicken. It may not have been small enough or I ate too fast. I have never had such pain. It wouldn't go up and it wouldn't go down. I had this feeling of panic and was having trouble breathing. I read not to drink anything during an episode like this. But finally after about 20 minutes of incredible pain, I drank a small amount of water. It seemed to help. The chicken did seem to move and the pain was less. I didn't sleep very well as I had a persistent ache in my shoulder and chest. This morning I feel better but still sore. I would like to hear other people's experience with this. I am 3 weeks post op and just adding things slowly. Could I have caused any damage? I plan on drinking only liquids today.
20. I was banded June 9th and have only lost 6lbs. I didn't have a pre-op diet. My Dr. said ONLY eat 3 meals a day and no snacks. That is so hard to do. Hence I'm failing at the only three meals a day. I am already frustrated. I'm going to try your 6 meals a day advice and see how that works. I very petite and only 5'2". I don't have as much to lose as some people because I asked for helped before I hit 200 lbs. I have tried every diet know to man but continued to gain. Thank you for the advice and congratulations.

Purebred Longhaired German Shepherd

What a small world. I have 3 Kerry Blue Terriers, Duffy, Katie and Bridget. They are absolutely wonderful dogs. I walk them daily and get lots of exercise. Where do you live? I live in TX.

Surgery in 7 hours, can't sleep

You will do great! I remember not sleeping the night before too and wishing I had asked the DR. for a sleeping pill. You will catch up although it was a week post-op before I was comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. Congratulations this is the beginning and you will never have to hide your weight again (I fully understand that one)!

removal of the lapband

I agree with elcee. I think there is something else going on. Also make sure your dr. understands the lapband. I find a lot of people, including physicians, don't understand the lapband and how it works. I would definitely consult a lapband surgeon before doing anything. You certainly don't want to go backwards after all your hard work!
