  1. Hi All! Well, 1 year this week! I attached some before and after shots. I can't believe how far I've come. This year has been an awesome, hard, tearful, joyful journey. I would not change a thing! Go me!
  2. Hi all, So I am 7 months post op and have lost a total of 54 lbs. I work out with a trainer 3 times a week, in the gym two other days that week and am satisfied with my eating. Meaning that I think I am about in my green zone. I only eat three small meals a day and the hunger is mostly gone! I just feel that at 7months post op I would have had more weight loss. I am thrilled with losing 54 lbs and have never lost this much weight before but I seriously thought the weight would come off faster. I feel liked I have worked off every pound at the gym and using my lap band to control my portion sizes. What do you all think? I am just being bitter? It just seems like all these people are posting that they lost 80-90+ lbs in six months and that is just not panning out for me. Thanks for your help/advice.
  3. Hi All, I was banded three months ago and had my third fill yesterday. I have lost 26 lbs but can't shake the feeling that the weight loss is so slow!! I feel like I should be further along. Has anyone else experienced this?
  4. Thanks ya'll! This info really helped!
  5. Hi all, I am contemplating joining Curves or a real gym. Any advice? Does Curves work? I am kind of intimidated to go to a real gym. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.
  6. Hi all, Yesterday I had my first fill and my surgeon put in 1cc. I have a 10cc band. I have been reading here that some surgeon's are putting in 4cc or 3cc's the first fill. Is my surgeon going really slow? Is 1cc normal? Should I be asking for more? I felt really full yesterday but by evening time I was able to get down a shake. I felt full but was still able to drink the entire thing. Thoughts?
  7. I had my first fill yesterday as well! I got 1cc and I felt so full pretty much the whole day but then in the evening I was hungry and was able to get down a smoothie for dinner. This morning I woke up not feeling that hungry and I am going to be on mushies so well see how today goes. I am hoping that I am one of those magical people that is in my green zone at only one fill!! Here's hoping!
  8. Instead of doing your own fills, you should try to find an RN that will do it for you. At my mom's surgeon's office, his RN holds "fill" parties and charges only like $75 bucks a pop to be filled. This wold be a safer way to go than to fill and unfill yourself. I know RN's that do this around the country. It is a cheaper route then having to go to the surgeon's office. Also you can make sure that the needles and saline that you are using are safe and the right ones!
  9. Feeling the same way as you. I was banded on July 20th and am down 10 or 11 lbs because that pound keeps coming and going!! I am able to eat a big amount as well and cannot get to the Dr.'s office fast enough to get my first fill. I also get nervous because I have herd that most of the weight comes off in the first year and 1 month has just gone by......I goes the good news is that I have not eaten at one fast food place since my surgery but I thought when I stopped that the lbs would fall off. WRONG!!
  10. I have a bad head cold since about 4 days ago and I am in the coughing stage of the cold. I am freaked that all this coughing is going to shake my lap band loose and pop all the stitches!! I am 11 days post-op am I crazy?
  11. I know everyone is going to jump down my throat but I am going to share my experience so far. I am 11 days post op and I began eating mushies and some solids by day 5. I talked to my surgeon and she explained that it really is just not trying to throw up because those could rip the stitches. She said I can eat as tolerated. I have been eating so much less in portion sizes than pre-surgery but this morning I was able to have toast and eggs. I was starving on liquids and I still had a huge interest in food by the 3rd day post-op and liquids were not cutting it. My best advice is talk to the doctor because I did and was so surprised at what she told me. I am down 12lbs and I am in a far better mood being able to eat again!!!
  12. Hi All, I am five days post op and I am so hungry. All I can think about it food. I am really trying my protein but I just want a real meal so bad!!! Does this hunger ever end?
  13. I was banded on Wed the 20th and my advice is just know that you are going to probably have a really bad 48hrs and then wake up feeling much better. My surgery went fine but I had loads of nausea after for about 4hrs and then just mega soreness at the incision sites. I was able to walk around with pain in the first two days but when I woke up on Friday, I felt like myself again! Now it's Sunday and I am pretty much back to myself. Yesterday I got up from the sofa and just popped up and forgot I had surgery. So long story short, just tell yourself its ok to have some bad days and it really does get better!!!! Good luck and you can do it!!!!
  14. I was banded on the 20th and wanted to ask if and when I would be able to lay on my side that the port is on. It is still really sore and hurts to lay on me side. Any tips? Also I saw in previous posts the term PB'ing....what does that mean?
  15. Me too! I am only on day 3 post op and I am starving! I never thought a scrambled egg or tuna sounded so good. I am mourning the food today also. If this was a regular Sat I would be thinking about dinner or going out to dinner. I miss dinner!
  16. I never in my life thought mushies sound so good!!! Today is day 3 from being banded and I already woke up thinking about scrambled eggs. They sound so good . Off to have a shake instead. Sheesh!
  17. I was banded on Wed also!!! I am also hungry! Tonight when my family ate dinner, I thought I was going to rip the food out of their mouths. I cannot wait for mushies to begin either! I am right there with you sister.
  18. Hi all, I was banded 3 days ago and today I feeling so much better. The first two days were rough! I have not had an pain meds today and was able to take a shower. I don't feel hungry at all but for lunch today my husband made mini pizza's for him and my son and I wanted to eat the entire tray!!! I wonder if my mind will ever catch up to my stomach?
  19. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had their band with this procedure? I am being banded in 4 days with the micro lap-band procedure and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on it. Thanks! http://doctorsofweightloss.com/2011/06/dr-emma-patterson-presents-first-micro-lap-band-video/ http://doctorsofweightloss.com/2011/03/first-micro-lap-band-brings-increased-patient-privacy/
  20. Hi All, I am being banded in 6 days (YES!) and have a post-op question/observation. I have been reading this message board for awhile now and I see tons of posts that people are eating a bit of rice or Pasta, or mac and cheese or whatever the "bad foods" are and people who are getting down on themselves for eating for example tomato Soup with cheese or refried Beans and cheese......but my questions and comment is, that isn't the portion so much less then what everyone was eating that just by sheer volume of food weight loss will occur? I am confused. I have been overweight pretty much my whole life and I am 100% a volume eater. I would rather have a huge portion of dinner food rather than a piece of chocolate cake or potato chips. My husband is thin and we pretty much have healthy foods in the house it is just that I could and do eat enough for about 3 to 4 people before I feel full! So that's why I am hoping the band works for me, to control my portions and hopefully have a full feeling. The posts about what people are eating after banding, even the "bad foods" seem like a helluva lot less food then I am eating now! Does this make sense? Am I on the right track? Thanks for your advice!
  21. Hi All, I need some help. I am a stay at home mom with an 18month old. If I have my surgery on a Wed, how soon do you think I will be up and around and able to care for my son? My husband works on Fri, Sat, and Sundays. Should he take that week off? Thanks so much in advance for your help!
