  1. So I was in the surgical waiting room at Mercy Fairfield waiting to be taken back for my EGD, when 2 very obese people come out from the "prep & recover area" with 2 large McD's bags & drinks and proceed to sit in the waiting area and eat. All the while, I had not eaten since 5pm yesterday because of the EGD before my weight loss surgery July 12. Irony...

  2. I may have other *good* news next week. I am hoping so at least....

  3. Wow, it's Thursday. Tomorrow is my EGD and Monday is Pre-op Teaching. Surgery less than 3 weeks away. I can't believe it is so close.

  4. So on my drive today, I got thinking about how much more research I want to do and in the different places I need to do it in. Then I thought about how much I will enjoy it. Then I realized that I will end up enjoying it even more because I will no longer be this heavy when I do the research next year!

  5. My train leaves at 9:45 am, I'll arrive in Providence about 10:40 or so. Then I'm driving back to State College, PA for another stay at the Hampton Inn there before driving the rest of the way back to Cinci on Monday. Tuesday is my appointment with the shrink about my surgery on July 12. Busy couple of days ahead...

  6. Do I really have to go back to "reality" next week? I wanna stay and keep researching!

  7. Just 2 days left for research. :( I'm running out of time. I need another week at New England Historic Genealogical Society! There's still way too many things on my "to do" list! Time to make some cuts I suppose... We have the "closing" banquet tonight - I'm tempted to skip it and keep researching!

  8. Another late night - I finished a microfilm at 10pm and decided to wait until tomorrow to start a new one. Then I talked for 35 minutes with Julie - the genealogist on the 4th floor. Amazing how LITTLE genealogy we actually talked about. :)

  9. At any given moment you have the power to say: this is NOT how the story is going to end ¨°º¤ø„¸¸„ø¤º°¨Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ¨

  10. I finally called it quits at 10:35pm at New England Historic Genealogical Society. Got a bit done today. Thanks to Gary Boyd Roberts, I have made progress on my Dutch ancestors - dicovering some German mixed in with them. Tomorrow, I will try out my wand scanner to make some copies and will hopefully return to the microfilms...

  11. aaaacccckkkk - I've been "Garried" with the promise of more yet tonight! But, it has lead me to more info on my Dutch ancestors!

  12. I was at NEHGS until about 10:45 PM yesterday. They normally close at 5pm, but were open until 9pm just for us. A couple of the genealogists stayed though later than that giving us some extra time. I wasn't the last to leave though. And I got through a fair bit of research - there's still a ton to do.

  13. Still at NEHGS one hour after closing (extended hours were supposed to end at 9pm) and getting extra one-on-one time with a professional genealogist! Woo Hoo!!!

  14. I now remember why I hate living in the city - it never sleeps! There is always loud activity in the alley behind the hotel (where my room is). I have the blinds turned so it blocks most of the light at night, but when daylight comes at 4:30 am - my room lights up big time. Sigh...

  15. Spent the afternoon transcribing death records of New Hampshire for Stiles. I really hope there are not that many more as I already have about 3 pages worth.

  16. It had been so warm when I left Cinci and I knew Boston was also warm, so I didn't bring my coat. Now, the local weather in Boston was saying it's in the low 50's - the next two mornings will be in the 40's. Highs only in the 60's. Good grief...

  17. Having dinner at Uno bar. Legal seafood was too far of a walk.

  18. Made it to Amtrak station in Providence. Fist time both of my GPS systems failed. Good thing I could print directions at the hotel before I left.

  19. Made it to Seekonk, MA where I am staying the night at Johnson & Wales Inn. Tomorrow on to Boston and New England Historic Genealogical Society!

  20. Arrived at State College, PA and checked in at hotel. Now to relax a bit before dinner.

  21. Almost ready for the trip to New England Historic Genealogical Society for their "Come Home" event. I just have a 12 hour work day tomorrow and then packing and will be hitting the road. I already have cut up a few veggies to take with me to eat on the road so I won't be tempted to stop at fast food places. That's a first for me!

  22. So I have a 15 hour drive coming up this next weekend from Cinci to Seekonk, MA. I need to be in MA on Saturday night. I'm thinking about leaving on Friday afternoon and driving at least part of the distance Friday night. Anyone know of a good place to stay between Cinci and MA (probably near the OH/PA border or in PA)

  23. I was hungry for hamburger helper, but wanted a healthier version of it, so I thought I would make my own. I ended up making a sweet goulash. How the heck did that happen?

  24. GasBuddy said: Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Connecticut now have prices that are over a dime higher than that of California. Now that's bad...

  25. 10pm and it's still 82 degrees in Cinci. Thank goodness for air conditioning!
