Anyone done protein/carbs for Eggface's recipes?

I just used myfitnesspal to calculate it. I used slightly different ingredients than eggface. Here's everything that I used and the calculations based on this version: 8 oz of Ricotta cheese - I used Meijer Low-fat Ricotta 1/2 cup grated Parmesan - I used Meijer 1/3 less fat Parmesean 1 large Egg, beaten - I used Egg Beaters Southwestern Style - 1/4 cup 1 teaspoon Italian Seasoning salt & pepper to taste - I omitted the salt 1/2 cup Marinara Sauce - I used Ragu Sweet Tomato Basil 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella Cheese - I used Sargento part skim cheese. I used a mini-loaf pan (although, I should have used 2 - some spillage of the tomato sauce) to bake it. This yielded 4 servings of 1/2 cup each. I used that serving size because that's what I can eat at this point. Per serving: 148 calories, 6 grams of Carbs, 8 grams of Fat and 17 grams of Protein.

Puree foods

What's light puree? When I was on puree foods - I could have pretty much anything that could be put into a blender and made into a puree. I had Soups, tuna salad, chicken salad, crab salad, egg salad, scrambled egg, etc.

    liquid diet.....is it cheating if???

You really should check with your surgeon and/or dietician. They have their guidelines for a reason.

    Support Group

I was required to attend 1 support group before they would schedule my surgery and I think 6 more after surgery. However, I really enjoy going to them. They are so informative and inspirational.

    Returning to work?

Since it sounds like your job is mostly desk work, probably very good chance that you can return quicker than 2 weeks. I was "back to work" a week later since I was able to sit at my desk with my computer (that's the vast majority of my job). After surgery, I had no pain or nausea, and spent just one night in the hospital. When I left the hospital, I never did fill the prescription for the pain medication because I never needed it.
  7. I hope the CPAP helps you. It did not help me - I tried for a year - with different masks, etc and frankly I was more tired sleeping with the machine than I was without it. So, after a year of struggling with it, I stopped using it. I know many people it has helped, but it just did not help me.

    caffeine withdrawal??

You may be able to take Tylenol for the headache - just don't take any NSAIDS. Check with your surgeon though to make sure. Also, make sure you get lots of water in - that will help some (at least it did for me). I stopped drinking my caffeine on May 18 - well before my surgery so I wouldn't have to experience withdrawls at the same time.

    Chili on full liquid

Mine was at the same time. Some however, have it at different times - depends on the surgeon/dietician.

    Hello All!

Jenni, I was sleeved by Dr. Northup 3 weeks ago. You're right, he and his staff are the best! I hope to meet you at a support group meeting soon.

Where did you get your sleeve?

Dr. C. Joe Northup at Mercy Fairfield did my surgery. It's just outside of Cincinnati. He and his staff are AWESOME! I highly recommend him. I've had no complications and they have been very good about addressing any concerns I have had.

    Endo Question - Sedation?

I was knocked out - went to sleep about 9:30, woke up at 10 - after the procedure was done and was wide awake for the rest of the day.
  14. I have been using Realizemysucess.com - it was recommended by my surgeon and they have access to it, so I don't have to print out my food diary. They also have a pretty good recipe database which is available after surgery and has serving sizes automatically set for 4 ounces which is nice. I could access it on my smartphone if I wanted to.

    Chili on full liquid

I'm just 3 weeks out and just tried chili the other day while I was still on pureed foods. It went down well, but I couldn't eat too much of it due in part to the spiciness of it (and it was a little thicker than I had been eating).

    DEFECTIVE SLEEVE?????

Everyone loses differently. If you were "on the lighter side" before surgery, then you won't lose as fast as those who are on the "heavier side". Don't compare yourself to others when it comes to weight loss. I also have not had any problems eating the appropriate amounts of liquids - they go down very easy. However, more solid things that are pureed, and now soft foods (that I started today) do not go down as easily and it's harder to eat the appropriate portion because of the restriction.

  19. Tuesday will be 3 weeks after my surgery. I've had itching around the incisions, but since most of the "scabs" have come off, the itching has subsided. The one incision on the left (the largest one - it's the one they took my stomach out of) still had a bit of scab left in the center - and on one edge. The scab in the center was partially loose, but still attached, so I have been leaving it alone. Today, I got a pain - kinda like a needle being stuck into that incision - right where the scab in the middle was. So, I lightly rubbed over it (that has sometimes helped when I get itching or slight pains). Well, part of the scab in the middle came off, and then it started bleeding. It didn't bleed a whole lot - I was able to stop it fairly quickly and it was only a large drop and then a couple of smaller drops. I have since washed the whole area with anti-biotic soap (dial) and have put some neosporin and a band-aid on that particular incision. All of the other incisions are healing well. Should I be worried that it started bleeding this long after surgery?

    Should I be concerned?

Well, it was getting red around it, so I called the surgeon today. The PA had me come in (the surgeon is out of town right now) and she took a look at it. On one side, the knot of the stitches was poking through, so she trimmed it. She said that it didn't look infected "yet" but it was definitely irritated and could develop into an infection, so she gave me a prescription for an antibiotic for one week just to make sure I won't get an infection.

    protien powder flavor

I would recommend not stocking up on anything before surgery. After your surgery your tastes will change. Before surgery I really enjoyed Bariatric Advantage powders - now after my surgery there's a few that I can't stand because they are too sweet. Try getting some samples for after the surgery so you haven't spent a lot of money on something you won't like. There's a lot of places that you can get samples from.
