  1. I have always had that "problem". I have never liked to hear others eat - even when I am eating with them. It just really irritates me. I chalk it up as one of my pet peeves. It's also probably why I don't like to eat in restaurants or around others - I really prefer to eat all by myself.
  2. Arrived at State College, PA and checked in at hotel. Now to relax a bit before dinner.

Got a date and good news!

Thank you everyone. I came to the conclusion that there must be something significant about the 12th. Four years ago, I had back surgery on May 12. Now, I am to have the VSG on July 12. The genealogy trip that I am on - there are 12 participants. There's been a couple of other instances of 12 coming up in my life. I think that will be my new "lucky" number. LOL
  4. I just got off the phone with the scheduler - my surgery will be July 12!!!!! The pre-op teaching will now be June 27 instead of the regular followup appt that I had scheduled that day. Now for the really good news - it's not going to cost me as much as I thought! Originally they told me it would be 17K, but she just told me it would be 15,300 instead (plus the suppliments/vitamins that I have to buy from them - another $150. YAY!!!! The downside: I have a family reunion that I will be attending in Maryland on July 8 and 9. I won't be able to eat the dinner with the family since I'll be on a 2 week pre-op diet at that time. Oh well, I guess it will give me good practice for life with the sleeve.
  5. Congrats! That is awesome news.

    A first for me

First day down and no fast food! I did have dinner at Olive Garden, but it was right next door to the hotel and I was wanting something other than the veggies I packed after snacking on them all day. Still have some left for tomorrow, so this plan is working great. Genealogy research is a passion of mine. It sounds really strange, but the intense research (like I will be doing next week) is VERY relaxing to me. It has the same effect as a day at the spa. Yup, I'm a strange one.... LOL

    2 Weeks post op

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on getting your sleeve. I would contact your doctor and he should prescribe Iron for you. That should help with the tiredness.

Got a date and good news!

Thanks everyone. It just hit me how fast this is happening. I went to the initial seminar on April 6, had my first appointment with the doc on May 18 and now will have surgery on July 12 (just over 4 weeks away)! Yup, the emotional roller coaster has begun... LOL
  12. Hope all went well with your surgery and you are recovering well!

    New here with questions...HELP!

I would still pursue it. Sounds like the doc that you spoke with doesn't know about the surgeries and is trying to scare you out of it. You've done research so you know the risks. Sure, there is a risk of death - but it happens very rarely. There's also a risk of getting hit by a vehicle and dying from that - but that doesn't prevent you from walking down the street or driving does it? Sorry, I'm not familiar with the military policies on this, but I would really get to another doctor instead of the one you spoke to.

  15. I just did a quick Google search for "vegetarian high protein" without the quotes and one of the first links was this one: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm It looks to have some good ideas on it. Hope it's helpful.

Do People Read the Board Or Search??

I'm pretty decent when it comes to searching other websites, but I have a tough time with this one. One thing that I found somewhat helpful is to search only for a single word - and not a phrase. Seems when I search for a phrase I get zilch. But frankly, the search feature isn't that great.

  22. Almost ready for the trip to New England Historic Genealogical Society for their "Come Home" event. I just have a 12 hour work day tomorrow and then packing and will be hitting the road. I already have cut up a few veggies to take with me to eat on the road so I won't be tempted to stop at fast food places. That's a first for me!

    Acid-yuck!

Have you tried going back to liquids? I might try that to see if the symptoms subside. If they do, it just might be that your new tummy isn't quite ready for solids yet.
