    Good luck July 12 sleevers!

I was surprised that I didn't have to do a bowel prep. I'm not complaining mind you, just surprised.

    Farewell Meal

Mine was LaRosa's Ravioli, Penne Chicken Alfredo, Spaghetti & Meatballs. Not all at the same time, but spread over a few days. I really loved LaRosa's - but no more.
  5. Well, I'm having my surgery tomorrow, so I can't speak to the "after", but I do know that everyone experiences it a little differently. That said, virtually everyone that I have seen post on here has said that it was worth it in the long run - even when they had difficulties right after surgery. It's normal for us to be nervous about this. It's also normal right after the surgery to go through a period of "WTH did I do?" and of "Why did I do this to myself?" Again, it's normal and I wouldn't worry about it too much. Of course this time tomorrow, I might be singing a different tune. LOL
  6. Glad you are doing well. Thanks for the update!

  9. My surgery was originally scheduled for 10:30 tomorrow (with arrival at 9am). I just received a call a few minutes ago saying that my surgery time had been moved up to 9:15 am and I need to be there at 7:45 am! :cheer2: YAY!!!!! Yup, I'm excited. Then the person I spoke with asked if I had my blood work done because she didn't see it there. I told her that most of it was done on May 27 and faxed in in early June and the surgeon told me that I wouldn't need anything else. But I had also went in last Tuesday because they called about it and the only thing they drew was the blood typing. She said that she would check on it, but they may need to draw more blood tomorrow morning before surgery. Wow, I really hope that doesn't screw things up now. I don't think my nerves could take anything else....
  10. I just received a phone call that my surgery time has been moved up by an hour and fifteen minutes. Now, I am to be at the hospital at 7:45 am with surgery at 9:15 am tomorrow. Woo Hoo!!! But, the lady said, did you do your blood work? I told her I went in last Tuesday and the only bloodwork they drew was blood typing. Everything else was done on May 27 and the surgeon had told me that he wouldn't need anything else. So now, I may have to do even more blood work. Sigh... Clear liquids today - not happy about that - it's already screwing with my head at 8am....

New time & potentially a new problem

Chewing gum has never been an option for me. I tried it 3 or 4 different times when I was a kid, and I always swallowed it after a couple of minutes! I went to work and puttered around, then I did my grocery shopping for the next few weeks (canned meats, veggies, etc) - except for the dairy which I will still have to go each week for. Tonight I have a computer to fix for someone, so I'm just "chilling" at the moment and sipping away on some broth, sf Jello and Water. When I was at the store I did get some Isopure alpine punch (the only flavor they had), so that's in the fridge to cool and I'll drink one of those tonight to get some Protein in (which I know will help with the hunger). Admittedly, I'm sure the hunger is more head hunger than actual hunger because I want to "chew" my food, not drink it.

    Time moved up!

Thanks. Yeah, I need to have blood work tomorrow before surgery because it was more than 30 days since they did the complete workup. Funny, they never told me that I would need to do it AGAIN. Oh well. At least it can be done in the morning before surgery and won't post-pone it.

New time & potentially a new problem

I'm trying to stay busy - but man am I "hungry"! This all liquid diet really stinks. If they need blood, they'll do it tomorrow apparently as I haven't gotten another call. Leaving work now to go grocery shopping for the next week. Then I need to head over to someone's house to work on their computer. I hope that won't keep me too late....
  14. Tomorrow at 9:15 I will be having my surgery.

    July 19th surgery date

Congrats on the date! You should be fine. I'm planning on returning August 1 - which is 1 day shy of 3 weeks too. Some people have gone back to work after just 5 days. I think it just depends on the person.

Are you ready July 11th-15th Sleevers??

Surgery is Tuesday and I'm starting to "freak out" about it. LOL Tomorrow all day is Clear liquids - no food. I plan tomorrow to stop at the store and "stock up" on stuff for after the surgery - I only have a couple of things for it right now, so I wanted to get a couple more things. Tuesday I have to be at the hospital at 9am and will have surgery at 10:30.
  19. Clear liquid diet = liquids that you can see through like broth, Water, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, crystal light, etc. Liquid diet = liquids that you can't see through like milk, yogurt, etc.
  20. Good luck to today's sleevers. Please update when you can.

One Week Out - Random Observations

Thanks for the thoughts. I plan on stopping to the store tomorrow to "stock up" for after the hospital. 2 days of clear liquids then full liquids/blenderized foods for 2.5 weeks. Should be "fun".
  23. Back home from the Stiles Family of America Reunion. It was a lot of fun - I wish more people would come though. Many people come a couple of days early or stay a couple of days later and make a real vacation out of it. Thank you Sigrid Stiles and her husband Bill for hosting it this year!

    The Straw....

The PA told us during our pre-op teaching that if we wanted to use a straw, we could as it does help some people, while others it doesn't. They don't have a particular recommendation on it.
