Congrats! That is awesome. Good job! Good luck on Monday.

Have you tried something like hotwire.com? You might be able to find something that way.

So for lunch today, I decided to have some bean & ham Soup made by Healthy Choice and pureed it. I also thought that I would up the Protein content by adding some unflavored Protein powder to it. I did this yesterday and it was fine. Unfortunately, the brand I added today made it awfully sweet - too sweet really. I had several packets of samples, that's why I used different brands (I had finished off the one brand yesterday). I hate to waste food. How can I make the now too sweet soup not so sweet? Any suggestions? I'm on full liquids/pureed foods until Tuesday.

Yeah, if the vinegar doesn't work, I'm tossing it. But I wanted to try to "salvage" it first.

Fairfield is just north of Cincinnati. www.mercyhealthyweight.com is the website for Dr. Northup.

SIZE 34 BOUGIE
Nancy Rivers replied to TheSweetesThing84's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon also used a 34 bougie and oversewed the staple line. -
Thanks for the suggestions. A couple of people on Facebook also suggested vinegar - so I think I will try that tomorrow after I get to the store. The soup is already pretty salty (I am rather sensitive to it growing up with a mother who refused to use salt to cook with), so I'm reluctant to add more salt (or non-salt) to it.

Hope you are doing better now. My dietician reminded me again today at my followup appointment to not eat these things. -
Made a mistake trying to add some protein powder to a soup to up the protein count - it turned it too SWEET to actually eat (for me anyway). Now I need to figure out how to fix it so it won't be sweet. Any ideas?

I used Dr. Northup in Fairfield - he's excellent. I've heard that Dr. Curry is good too.

HOw much should we eat one month post op?
Nancy Rivers replied to juzmejnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 2 weeks out and can eat between 2 and 4 ounces of food depending on the food. My dietician and surgeon both have told me to eat 5 or 6 times a day and I am. It's not too much food. Your stomach at this stage can only hold about 4 ounces at a time, so you have to eat more often to get the nutrients in. And yes after about 3 hours I get the "hungry" feeling and I know it's time to eat again. The hard part for me is fitting in all the water, but I'm making it work. -
Protein shakes and drinks info for a Newbie

I love the nectar brand of Protein powder. Some say it's too sweet, but I don't think it is. They have samples available from Nashuanutrition.com and many other places. It has 23 g of protein per serving, zero carbs. For Vitamins & Calcium, I'm currently using Bariatric Advantage - although it's kinda chalky. I have tried the Bariatric fusion brand and like those much better and will be ordering those once my other supply is depleted. I think they have samples but I'm not sure. -

Well...a minor setback

Get yourself a rolling bag/suitcase and pack just the one suitcase - that way it is easier to handle. Also tell the airline that you will need assistance boarding & disembarking from the plane. They will have a wheelchair ready for you and will wheel you to where you need to go. When they do so, they will also help you with your bag. Can you have someone pick you up from the airport? That would be best - then they can handle the bag for you as well. If not, make arrangements with a taxicab or a "riding service" of some sort - they should also be able to handle the bag for you until you get home. You can do it - It just takes a bit of planning is all and you have the time to do the planning. -
Glad things are going better for you. It is difficult to learn to sip instead of gulp, but it will happen. Things will get better every day.
