  3. Hi! I am 54 year old male in NWPA and am in need of a Mentor either in the area or someone online to giude me and bounce ideas off of and to have another person to have some accountability with. I was banded May 20 2011 At that time I had gone form 292 lbs to 282 lbs in pre band regimen. Since banding am at 268lbs losing 14 lbs in the 11 weeks since the banding. Am at a point where some old eating behaviors are coming back and my discipline is slipping- by that I mean logging food, exercise...working the routine.. I am having relief from High BP and Elevated Blood Sugar from the current loss but gotta keep going. If you are a male of similar situation and understanding shoot me an email so we can talk about establishing a mentor relationship. Thanks for your consideration Mike
  4. Hey Jennifer~ Aw cut her some slack.....many of our friends don't know how to handle this change in us so I give them the benefit of the doubt and keep trying to understand how they saw me ans what that all meant to them...you are finding out...man are you finding out!! I you can give that big smile of yours and remind her you can go out and you are always gonna be hot! I am realizing I spent so much time thinking about the effect of my weight on myself never even giving one thought to my weight in the minds of others. Keep in mind she was honest to you cause she must trust you so keep that trust in mind and always feel free tovent in here ...it is a safe place to do that...my turn is comin! All my best Mike
  5. Hey Tomorrow at 530am I have to be at the Cleveland Clinic for my procedure! Whew never thought this day would come...this really is a life changing experience! Mike4140
  6. Hey are you ready? Tomorrow is the day! I have all these tests today and then up and adam it is it! WOW! TTYL Mike
  7. Yinete I am a week ahead of you but wlil keep you up on thing...like day 3, 4, 5 of liquid diet is the worst just get thru Mike
  8. Teapot Of course remember I am a man so I tend to mask everything with anger and eating to mask other feelings. I have been in search of a therapist who can address the anger, compulsive eating and self hatred that has built up over the years. You are ahead of the game if you are thinking about it cause like they say this band is just a tool and when the food is gone and I am stripped away of my familiar props some stuff is gonna bubble to the surface. I had been googling compulsive eating therapists in my area and then calling to see what their take is and how I feel toward them. And I hear there are bariatric surgery support groups too...maybe it is a mixture of the two tha helps work it all thru... My take on it... Mike p.s. so have you been banded yet.?
  9. YEah you are in roughest time of the pre op...just go hour by hour and of course distract yourself :-) Mike
  10. Hey! KLOVE ANother 5/20 banding! We are doin it to it that day! Yeah the liquid is rough...did you do one week of it or two. I really do think I am coming to accept it all - I mean the eating less....this is the beginning I am realizing not just a temporary thing and that realization is helping. I like the wheat germ idea. I notice I skipped the vit C and Iron a couple days and felt weak as all get out..nutrition is big along with this liquid as well. Okay man good to have you along on the ride...I will be thinkin about you on Fri. Keep it up man you are right it will be worth it... Mike
  11. It really does seem like there is a grieving process with regard to letting go of our curent relationship with food. Bingeing is denial haha! I think it takes so long to go hru the process to get the band so we have time to fully grieve the loss of our relationship to food..until we get to the point where acceptance is the answer to all our problems..so let youself grieve as long as i takes Mike

  13. Hi David Thanks so much for your detailed description of your first 8 months post op. I am in to be banded this TH. Your ticker is exactly like the one I picked!! Haha! I hope to ask you many things as a resource after the banding.. Am grateful for your feedback and experiences. Mike
  14. Hi Jennifer So this is the week!! WHEW! Are you ready? Is funny as this pre op diet is old hat now...I go my usual decaf coffee this morn and could not drink it all and then had a little reflux from it so I think my stomach is shrinking...I am also at 7 lbs lost as of Fri but decided to weigh again tom morn - monday.. I have seen in here some concern about gum when the band is in but not during pre op so I use it when I need it. So may drop that when I am banded. I am getting banded in Cleveland - will be nice to have someone progressing after the surgery at same tinme to talk to...so thanks for being so talkative. Enjoy your last sunday before banding...new hope is on the way next week Mike
  15. Hi Sherry Me too! Like Jennifer I am getting banded the day after you. Is coming soon...I am sure my stomach has shrunk from this pre op diet cause I cant drink my usual size decaf coffee any more.. Truly we do no tknow all that is going to happen but we have looked into it and made a decision and now wait to adjust to the rest. The great outcomes outweight the bad..so I am still excited
  16. WHat was the reason no solid food..nausea?
