  1. They would have covered the nutritionist for me IF there was one here on my plan. I am doing the 6 month diet (finish Oct 1!) so I only needed one visit. I hear ya on cost though...we hit our family ded. of $10k in June! The silver lining of that is that everything is 100% now. I am sooo hoping they approve this for me and I can get in before the end of the year! We are doing TONS of medical stuff right now because it is 100%...dermatologist, allergist, etc. fun, fun, fun!

    Psych Evals

Had mine yesterday. Was pretty painless. =) Basically we talked about finding other outlets instead of food and the need for at least 5 things (hobbies) to help with this. Also having something for the oral motor need (ie, sugar free candy, a straw, etc to chew around when needed). I found it pretty interesting and had a bit of an aha moment. I have spent the last 16+ years working for my children/family and have lost "me". I finally have time now to focus a little on me and I need to figure out what "I" like now. Then there was the MMPI test. Pretty simple. Just answer T/F to a ton of questions. =) good luck!

    Aetna weight history

thanks....I hope they take it. sigh. Btw, it is a personal plan...not through the employer.
  4. Well, I had my pulmonary appointment today. I spent 1 hr in the waiting room...then 1 hr in the room waiting for the doc! I was sooo frustrated! It didn't help things at all that I had my 6 and 3 yr olds with me. (dh is out of town last minute and this doc was near dd's allergist and she needed shots for the week). So...they started really losing it at about 2 hrs...I stuck my head out and asked if the doc would come in anytime soon. He came right in...spent 10 min with me. Wants to do a chest x-ray and some kind of sleep blood oxygen test (not sleep study). No follow up (as long as all is normal). To make it worse...at the 1 hr mark my oldest (16 yrs) called and said he was locked out with ds4 (8 yrs)...it was ONLY 97 today. :cursing: (cool for this time of year..will be 108 later in the week). He ended up climbing up on the patio roof and getting in an upstairs window. ugh. I can't believe I forgot to leave a door unlocked or one of the downstairs windows. Anyhow, frustrating that they were running soooo late! If I wasn't trying to hard to have everything ready for Aetna by the end of the month I would have rescheduled. sigh. Thanks for listening. LOL:001_rolleyes:

    Aetna weight history

Michelle - What if you did not go into the doc in '09? For '08 I have my gyn appt, nothing for '09 (was thinking of taking my gym record taken by the trainer there monthly for 3-4 months and maybe a picture or two from that time). I have plenty for '10. Do you think this is sufficient?? don't mean to take over the thread but it relates. =)
  6. I haven't been sleeved yet....but I have had an OnQ with 2 of my c/sections. I think it helped hide the initial pain but when it came out is was an eye opener for sure. Hang in there.

    Help please, lack of history

hmm. I have the same issue. I have 2008 and 2010 but NO 2009. I am going to the gym and asking for the record they have from me during 2009 (I was weighed monthly for 4 months there). I am hoping that and 1-2 pictures will work ok. I have 1 dr. visit in 2008 showing my weight....I hope it works.
  8. I have not had surgery yet...BUT I have done low carb for extended periods. =) this is a great salad and I eat it on lettuce leaves. Asian chicken salad 4 boiled and chopped chicken breasts 1/2 cup red bell pepper, diced 1/4 cup scallions (green onion), sliced 2 tbsp real mayonnaise 2 tbsp soy sauce 1 tbsp sesame oil makes 3 cups Another trick I use for my meatball sauce (sweet and sour) is to add splenda with about 1/2 tsp blackstrap molasses in place of the brown sugar. Not quite as good but still is wonderful. =) For some more ideas (of course you may have to cut some fat from the recipes or change them a little) go to Active Low-Carber Forums - Atkins Diet & Low Carb Support Message Boards This is a great site and recipes are in the Kitchen section. I do not usually cook separate from my family...tonight we had tacos. I used the same meat for me and made a taco salad instead of tacos for me. Many times I make things and only eat it a little different. Good luck! Hopefully I will be joining you and be "sleeved" sometime before the beginning of the year. =) I am almost done with the 6 mo diet, etc. I meet with the nutritionist tomorrow, the pulmonologist on Monday, and the Psychologist on Wed. Then I have to get some records for last year. Then we will see what Aetna says. =) Good luck!

    NSAIDS Ok?

My surgeon told me that because I need to take them for my TMJ that I should have the sleeve...
  10. I am hoping to not self pay... I am currently going through all the hoops...but I am lucky (IF I get approved). My ins pays 100% of the surgery (after I hit my $5k deductible...which I hit with treating my TMJ and having an uterine ablation done this year..moles removed, etc). I have decided that this is the year for medical things for our family since we hit our family deductible of $10k in June. (dd needed sinues surgery, allergy testing, etc). So....we are slammed with dr. appts right now trying to get everything taken care of. =) I am HOPING they approve the sleeve for me. My BMI is 50. (I hit that requirement but I don't have any comorbities...yet.) If I am denied we will probably look into Mexico and pay out of pocket.

    Plantar Fascaitis?

I think I have this. ugh. My heel hurts so bad by the end of the day (when I have done a lot of walking or been on my feet) and in the morning. It has been this way for about 4 1/2 months now. It is a little better since I have the sketchers shape ups...but it still hurts. It is really bad when I stand for a long time on our tile floor without shoes. (bad I know....imagine canning for 8 hrs barefoot on tile..ugh) I am going to try some of these ideas on here. I am thinking of the podiatrist.
  12. Hi. I am seriously considering the sleeve. I am on month 2 of the 6 month diet required by my Ins. and I have a consult scheduled with a surgeon. So, several things have me interested in the sleeve. 1. No malabsorbtion issues (my mother has issues now from wls) 2. great track record of success. 3. I have heard you can still take NSAIDS after this surgery. (it is a no-no for bypass). If you don't know what these are...they are anti-inflamatories. (sp?) I take these on a fairly regular basis right now for my TMJ. I also would like the option because what is I end up with bad arthritis when I am older? (my mother has terrible arthritis and has had her knee replaced twice now) So, is it true you can take these medications after the sleeve? (assuming it has healed of course). Thanks!

    Aetna is covering VSG

avilda - did you call them and ask? I was told at the seminar that Aetna always requires 6 months. I have an individual ppo plan so some things are handled differently.
