Hi! I went back on the pill at 6 weeks post op. My surgeon told me to wait that long so as not to risk blood clots. I had NO problems swallowing the tiny little pill, even though bigger pills would make me feel sick. I had to be careful not to have too big a swig of Water at that point so that it wouldn't hurt but that was about it. I don't know if it's because of going off the pill prior to surgery and staying off it, but I also didn't have a period at ALL til about 8-10 weeks post op. Had one regular cycle and now on my 2nd cycle it is lasting foreeeeeeever. It's been like 5 weeks. Annoying. Hope I get re-accustomed to the pill soon!

Everybody is so different. That's the one challenge to doing this as a couple - you have your partner to compare to. On our side it's the opposite - I'm losing faster than my husband. He isn't doing anything wrong that we can see... he exercises less than I do... but his inches seem to be changing more. Tell her to ask herself, when's the last time she was able to lose 32 lbs in 8 weeks? How happy would she be about that, if she weren't comparing herself to you? Hang in there and it will get better!! As for stalling, when I stalled around by 8 week point, I added in a Protein Drink every morning and that really helped me.

Everyone goes through stalls at different times - your body's gotta do what it's gotta do - so try not to worry! Just keep doing your thing! As far as the small chili.... I hate to tell you this but I can't finish it at 4 months post-op. I wouldn't be concerned though - I think the answer to that is that you are taking 30 mins to finish it. I was told to finish my meals by 15 mins max. If you wait longer, you begin to digest, and therefore can fit more in. Try stopping at 15 mins. It's ok to get hungry more often, I eat every 2-3 hours, 5-6 times a day usually, and that's what my surgeon recommended. I don't know if any of this helps, just thought I'd throw it out there!

The restlessness is good because moving around as much as possible will help you feel better faster. By a week a felt pretty good and by 2 weeks I pretty much forgot I had surgery. You will get there!

Whoooo hoooo!! I can really relate to your feeling. Every time I lost weight, I stopped at 240. Once I managed 238. Today I am 229 and it feels so amazing being below my previous low weight. Makes you feel like this is it :001_tongue:  Way to go!!

Krista, I remember having pain in my chest too when I took deep breaths, mine was from my drain tube though. But even after having it removed you have have pain from where it was inside.

I know and I'm hoping it's really achievable... I just don't know when my loss will slow way down and how much. But I'm gonna keep workin for it!!!!
-
Well I wouldn't say get used to it... in a week or two it will be much better

Yes, The World According to Eggface is an awesome blog. Her "bites" recipes are especially awesome.
As far as cookbooks, I have found diabetic cookbooks to be the best choice because they are high Protein, low carb, and pretty decent on fat and calories. They always include the nutrition info also, which most recipe books don't (unless they are for dieters). There are also specific post weight loss surgery cookbooks out there.
I just searched Amazon and read reviews... I also found one diabetic cookbook in the discounted section at B&N that I like. If you are really interested I'll grab all the books out of my cupboard and give you the titles.

Thanks for sharing your story! I have never had a 1 in front of my weight since um... middle school!! I was easily 220 when I began high school. SO. It seems unobtainable... but I know I am on my way! I am now at 233 (started at 310 and had my surgery 5-20-10). My surgeon wants me to hit 199 by Jan 1st. I totally think I can do that! What a great way it would be to ring in the new year, right!! Not to mention it will be 1-1-11... a day full of 1's. That would be pretty special. :huh0: Although the odds of hitting the timing exactly are pretty small LOL. So if it happens early, hey I'll take it!!

For me by about 35 lbs lost I had way more heat tolerance. Ever since then I am cold even in 70 degrees. When it's 85-90 degrees, I find it only slightly uncomfortable, and sometimes not bad at all.
