    Keeping my calories down

Oh also, Starbucks has these snack plates that are really awesome. They are all adequate choices for us and I get 2-3 meals out of one. I wrote about those on my blog too.

    Keeping my calories down

Same here Lisa, I too was told to avoid lettuce til 3 months. I am really into convenience foods also. Hot dogs are fine now and again but 390 cals for one meal is pretty high if you are doing it almost daily. A lot of times I just have a lite string cheese and a slice of deli turkey. Another easy one for me is a wheat thins flatbread cracker, spread some cream cheese, and put a slice of cheese and a slice of turkey on it. Hormel white chicken chili is delicious. Tyson chicken nuggets, I can eat 3 of them. Tuna or chicken salad put onto a flatbread cracker. I make up tuna salad every week and I eat that pretty much once a day every day, I love it and it's very high protein. Shrimp cocktail, talk about fast. 6 cold shrimp and some cocktail sauce. I will tell you that so far I've done very little cooking and everything has been fast and easy. Check out my blog and click the category "things I've been eating" and you'll see some ideas. Health and Happiness Also, if you use sugar free pudding for your snack it has very few calories, and if you add a little protein powder to it, then you can get some extra protein too. Hope this helps!!

    3 Month Update

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this. You have really touched me. I am at 2 1/2 months so was excited to read a 3 month update. I am at almost 60 lbs lost right now and hope to be at about 70 lost when I hit my 3 months on Aug 20th but we shall see I think the fact you have been able to overcome emotional eating is incredible.... that is exactly what this is all about. I have only had one instance of nearly eating emotionally since surgery but usually it is the farthest thing from my mind. I love this new freedom! I am so sorry for the trauma you have gone through. Those things are extremely difficult... but I can relate so much to how you said that it showed you that you wouldnt revert to old behaviors. In 2008 my dad had a heart attack and was unconscious for 8 days and not expected to survive. At that time I had broken two addictive behaviors - nail biting and excessive gum chewing - and I was so thrilled that I made it through that experience without reverting back. I couldn't believe I made it through that and still had long fingernails. I did however, turn to food and my weight got even worse following his heart attack. Even though it should have made me realize how unhealthy I also was, and do something about my weight, instead I hid behind emotional eating. I am so happy that now this seems to be changing... have been working on it through therapy for about 6 months prior to surgery too so that was extremely helpful. Please keep us updated as you go along... I just loved your post.
  5. It's good that you are beginning to realize this. I was lucky enough to start facing my emotional eating through therapy about 6 months BEFORE having surgery so I haven't really felt this loss... I went through that mourning process way before surgery and I feel so much freedom and at this point i LOVE being able to eat so little and be satisfied. I dont' miss pigging out. I love not feeling stuffed and sick. Just keep working through these feelings and you will get there! I had ONE almost-emotional eating experience post op but managed to recognize and avoid it and haven't had anything like that since. Also I'm so sorry to hear about your wife
  6. INCREDIBLE!! Girl you really inspire me and give me hope! I came from size 28 and it's so hard to imagine being a 10. I'm a 22 now.

    Hormel Turkey Meatloaf?

I had it! It wasn't my personal taste as it was on the sweeter side... but as far as consistency in that stage, it went down well.
  8. I haven't kept very good track about exactly when the sizes have changed but I am 2 1/2 months post op and my pants size has gone from 28 to 22. My tops have gone from 22/24 to 18/20 and some 14/16's. I was very excited about the clothing exchange thread, but, people don't seem to use it very much at all. I have been selling most of my big stuff in yard sales, no one on here seemed to need it, I guess I started bigger than a lot of people and most people were looking for smaller sizes than what I had to offer. Let me know what sizes you might need, I will keep getting rid of stuff. Right now I'm in 22 pants for example and would be happy to pass them on when I'm done with them... message me if you need anything and I'll do what I can!

  11. Hey sweetie and thank you! I don't feel like I'm melting but I know it is a good pace! I have carried the weight my whole life but yes I'm 27 so I'm sure that does help. I haven't been tracking the past couple weeks but when I was, my carbs were anywhere from 35grms-60grms a day. I haven't really changed what I'm eating so that's probably where it's at. I honestly don't think lack of carbs is a huge deal, but having ENOUGH protein is. I was really slow going for a few weeks and then I started adding a protein shake back in and poof 6 lbs in 8 days. I think it is helping a lot. Gave me a little more energy too.

    8 Week Stats

I'm at 8 weeks tomorrow. I went with my hubby to his appointment today for 6 weeks, so I got weighed too. I have lost 48 pounds :-D Hubby at 6 weeks has lost 37. We're both feeling great! My BMI has gone down 7 full points in 8 weeks. My official 2 months is still a week away so with any luck I'll drop those 2 lbs to make a nice even 50 lb loss for my first 2 months :confused1: I will have official update photos and measurements at that time! Also ~ someone wants to do a news story about us! I guess they do stories on my surgeon's patients from time to time and they inquired about us since we are a couple who did this together, and got the sleeve which is still so rare. We agreed and I gave my phone number so hopefully I will hear soon about the details. We might get a little TV spot! Most importantly, everyone there today was very receptive to all of our opinions about how the program can be improved for sleevers. The director of the hospital program, and the nutritionist teaching the class today both spend time with us taking notes because they are going through a huge revision process right now since they are starting to get more sleeve patients and they know the program needs to be improved. Hopefully our suggestions will help those who come after us.
  16. I love the new photo you added!! I would love to add you on Facebook if you are open to it :)
